Objectives. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of the oral hygiene education using the newly designed clinical pathway improving the oral hygiene capability of patients with fixed orthodontic appliance to manage oral hygiene. Methods. The study was conducted on patients beginning orthodontic therapy with fixed orthodontic appliance in Department of Orthodontics, P University Hospital. We applied the newly designed critical pathway on test group (each twenty male/female patients in their teens and twenties) and regular oral hygiene education on control group (each twenty male/female patients in their teens and twenties) and evaluated their capability of oral hygiene management by plaque index and gingival bleeding index. We also evaluated it by age, gender, and period of attaching orthodontic appliance. Independnet t-test and ANOVA were used for statistical analysis. Results. The plaque indices of the test group were lower than those of the control group one, two, three month after bonding the brackets. There were no significant differences in the gingival bleeding indices between test and control group one, two, three month after bonding the brackets. At one month after bonding the brackets, the plaque indices decreased greatly, but 3 months later, the plaque indices became similar to those before orthodontic treatment. Conclusions. Education of oral hygiene management with critical pathway is more effective than the traditional method for the reduction of dental plaque. Education is necessary every 3 months to maintain the oral hygiene abilities continuously.

N/A Chitosan fiber spun through circular nozzle was immersed into alginate solution to enhance mechanical properties of the fiber for suture application. The tensile strength of the chitosan fiber increased with an increase of molecular weight and concentration of the chitosan. The dry tenacity of chitosan fiber (cps 15.7) was enhanced by treatment with alginate solution from 0.56 g/d to 1.71 g/d due to the formation of polymeric electrolyte complex between chitosan as polycation and alginate as polyanion. The optimum condition of treatment concentration and time of alginate to enhance mechanical properties of chitosan fiber was 0.5 wt% and 12 hrs, respectively. The morphology of the chitosan fiber after treatment with alginate showed smoother than that of chitosan fiber only.

To investigate the effects of internal radiation of various intensity on the test crop(flax), seeds of four levels of activity(15.5×10 exp (-4) μc/grain, 9.O×10 exp (-2) μc/grain, 2.2×10 exp (0) μc/grain and 3.8×10 exp (1) μc/grain) which had been obtained by immersing them into various concentrations of P-32 original solution (total activity: 90 mc, To: 3/21) for 24 hours at room temperature, were germinated, transplanted later into pots, and the rate of germination and the successive growth were observed, and the inorganic conents of the plant top were analyzed. The results are as follows: 1. At the early stage of germination, the plants manifested themselves both inhibitory and promotive effects at higher and lower activity levels respectively, compared those of the control. These difference of growth on account of different levels of activity appeared, however, to be gradually narrowed in the course of time after germination, except at the highest activity. 2. Two weeks after transplanting, the plants of the lowest activity showed more vigorous growth than those of control. The plants belonging to the other activity levels on the other hand, tended to be less growing, the higher the activity. However, this growth gap between treatments seemed to be progressively closed one month after transplanting. 3. Most of the leaves and stems of the plants belonging to the highest activity level (3.8×10 exp (1) μc/grain) were withered during the early stage of growth, and this damage did not recover. 4. Practically no difference of growth was observed among treatments(excluding that of highest activity) one and half months after transplanting. 5. The fluorescence tended to be more delayed than the control, as the activity decreased. 6. There was a tendency that the number of pods harvested were larger in the plants treated with P-32 than that of the control. 7. The proportion of fiber in the plants at harvest appeared to be larger at lower activity and smaller at higher P-32 concentration than that of control 8. As for the inorganic contents of the plant top harvested the following tendency was observed: (1) Nitrogen content was highest at the highest activity level at which the poorest growth ensued. (2) There was no clear difference of phosphorus content among treatments. (3) The contents of potassium and magnesium were higher than control at the medium levels of activity. (4) Calcium content of all treated blocks was found to be more than that of control.

본 연구는 내항해운 선원 인력의 부족 문제를 진단하고, 이를 해결하기 위한 선원 양성 및관리방안에 대하여 제시하고자 하였다. 우리나라 내항해운 업체에 대한 설문조사를 통해 내항해운 선원 인력에 대한 양적, 질적 측면의 수요를 파악하고, 선원 양성 및 관리상의 문제점을 진단하고, 이의 해결방안을 제시 하였다. 205개의 내항해운업체를 대상으로 선원 부족과 이에 대한 양적 수요와 선원의 요구조건 그리고 선원근무형태를 설문조사하여 인력 양성 및 관리상의 문제점을 도출하고, 이에 대한 해결방안을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 이러한 상황에서 내항해운 선원 수요와 양성 및 관리 방안에 관한 선행연구와 현황자료 그리고 산업체의 인력수요에 대한 실태조사를 통해 내항해운 산업계의 실제적인 선원 양성 및 관리 방안을 제시하였다는데 연구의 의의가 있다. Purpose : This study investigate the quantitative and qualitative demand for crew members in coastal shipping industry through the survey on coastal transportation companies and identifies the issues and resolutions in crew member training and management. This study diagnosed the issue of the lack of crew members by targeting 205 coastal transportation businesses. The lacking number of crew members was evident to have reduced the number of crew members per ship, which potentially leads to the issue of failure to supply proper number of crew members for coastal ship operation and management. Deficiency of crew members led to the failure of proper replacement and supplement of crew members. In order to resolve the issue of training and management of crew members in coastal transportation, first, it is vital to expand the labor force supply by providing coastal transportation education opportunities for the unemployed, the socially vulnerable, the poor, the North Korean defectors and foreign crew. Also, aid plans such as long-boarding pension payment, wage tax exemption, priority supply of national housing and special college admission process for the children of crew members should be provided to improve the appeal of coastal crew working conditions.

A new control scheme is proposed for a bilateral teleoperation system for microsurgical operations. The main objective of the control scheme is to enhance kinesthetic perception of the operator. First, we classify kinesthetic perception in teleoperation, based on psychophysics, into three: detectable region, sensitivity of detection, and discriminable region. A new bilateral controller using impedance-shaping method is, then, proposed. The proposed controller can increase the kinesthetic perception by magnifying the transmitted impedance to the operator. Finally, performance of the proposed controller is verified and compared with previous bilateral controllers such as two-channel position-position (PP), two-channel force-position (FP), and transparency-optimized four-channel controller.
