As the electric power market environments are being changed, suitable data for expansions should be subjected to stockholders. And the public responses are requested for transmission system expansion. The necessity of transmission system expansion can be easily assessed via the benefit/cost evaluations. Because the benefit/cost evaluation of the transmission system expansions required variety elements, which can be depended on electric power market simulation software. On this paper, a method is illustrated using the PPOOL developed by PPC and PSS/E developed by PTI.

The reliability evaluation methods for the bulk power system habe been studied by several electric utilities. The evaluation methods based on the probability theory and the computer packages are being developed or already practicalized. But without correct probabilistic data, accurate result couldn't be expected. In this point, the construction of database is needed. Some of probabilistic data for evaluation of bulk power system are shown in this paper.

The enhancement of system security is one of the most important objectives of UPFC operation. To describe the system security, the index related to line flows and bus voltages are used. For the enhancement of security, the operation point of UPFC is set to minimize the index. This paper proposes the minimization algorithm using the Marquardt method. Moreover, the coefficients minimizing iteration number will be derived. For verification of the proposed operation scheme, numerical simulations have been performed on power system in Kwanju area, Korea with a UPFC.

A new technique using search method based on fuzzy multi-criteria function is proposed for generator maintenance scheduling. Minimization of probabilistic production cost, maximization of system reliability level and air pollution are considered for fuzzy multi-criteria function. To obtain an optimal solution for generator maintenance scheduling under fuzzy environment, fuzzy multi-criteria relaxation method(fuzzy search method) is used. The practicality and effectiveness of the proposed approach are demonstrated by the simulation results of the real size model system.
