        Field evaluation on the synergistic attractiveness of 2‐(1‐undecyloxy)‐1‐ethanol and ipsenol to Monochamus saltuarius

        To develop an optimal attractant for Monochamus saltuarius (Gebler) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), the synergistic effects of a few potential attractants (ethanol and α‐pinene as host‐plant volatiles, and ipsenol and ipsdienol as bark beetle pheromones) were tested in a pine forest combined with 2‐(1‐undecyloxy)‐1‐ethanol (monochamol), the aggregation pheromone of Monochamus species, for two consecutive years, 2014 and 2015. Total number of catches was 65 and 33 in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Ethanol or ethanol + monochamol (a base blend) were not attractive to M. saltuarius with no difference from the control. Addition of α‐pinene and ipsdienol to the base blend did not significantly increase catches. However, ipsenol was significantly synergistic to the base blend in attracting M. saltuarius in 2014, and the blend (ipsenol + base blend) attracted meaningfully higher numbers of M. saltuarius in 2015. Our study illustrates the potential for monochamol and ipsenol baits for monitoring and trapping of M. saltuarius in the field.

        《竹簡老子》,《帛書老子》및《河上公注本老子》의 '居'와 '處'에 대한 語學的 考察

        一九七三年從湖南省長沙馬王堆的漢代墓杖中出土了思於帛書上的甲ㆍ乙兩種<老子>ㆍ約二十年后, 形門市博物館在湖北省型門市沙洋區四方鄕郭店村發掘了命名爲郭店一號的戰國礎幕, 基中出土了寫於竹間上的甲ㆍ乙ㆍ丙三種<老子>. 這種新出上的<老子>和現存的<老子>間有?多不同之處.基中'居'字和'處'字的出現情況極爲不均衡.現存<老子>里含有'居'的文章出現十一次, 含有'處'的出現十五次. 然而馬王堆<老子>里含有'處'的文章只出現兩次而已, 基他都用居.筆者關於這介問題曾發表過文章(1996)來指出了以'處'來代替居的現象可能有以下三種原因. 一:兩介字的古字形?相似.('居': ? '處': ?) 二:兩介字的上古音也?相似.('居': ? '處': ?) 三:兩介字的함의也?相似. 當時筆者認爲如果將來可以得到比馬王堆帛書<老子>更古的本子, 娜本子里'處'字應該出現得更少或者有不出現的可能. 一九九八年, <郭店楚墓竹間>的公刊給了筆者考査上述結論的機會.<郭店楚墓竹間>中的<老子>里含有居的文章出現了八次, 含有'處'的一次也沒出現.因爲郭店<老子>里缺文比較多, 所以?難確定筆者下的結論是否正確.但筆者經過這次考査發現'居'ㆍ'處'的交替現象是因形ㆍ音ㆍ義三介要素相互作用而導致的.且認爲其中字形的類似性對'居'ㆍ'處'的交替現象影響最深. 此論文就是證明筆者觀点的論倨.郭点<老子>里 '?'字出現過一次, 此字又見於 <說文解字>.筆者認爲, '?'字是表示'居'和'處'的中間階段的字形.'?'字的存在可以證明'居'和 '處'兩介字的親密關系, 以及秒寫過程中會引起錯誤的可能.

        Effects of persimmon tannin on survival and reproduction of Halyomorpha halys (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae)

        Halyomorpha halys (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) occurs in sweet persimmon orchards from late July to early September and its damage level is negligible before mid‐July. It rarely appears in persimmon orchards after mid‐September, but is easily found in soybean fields. From the phenological observation of H. halys, it is assumed that seasonal migration of H. halys to sweet persimmon orchards may be related to the content of soluble tannin in sweet persimmon fruits. The feeding preference of H. halys was evaluated on sweet and astringent persimmon fruits, and the effects of persimmon fruits and purified persimmon tannin were tested on the survival of H. halys. Numbers of visiting bugs and feeding spots on the fruits were significantly higher on sweet persimmon than those on astringent persimmon. There was no significant difference in survivorships of H. halys fed sweet persimmon and soybean. However, the number of eggs laid by sweet persimmon fed adult females was significantly lower than those fed soybean. The higher concentration of persimmon tannin caused higher mortality of H. halys. Male and female H. halys fed with 3% persimmon tannin showed the lowest survival. Longevities of male H. halys fed with 0, 0.01, 0.1 and 1% persimmon tannin were 14.9, 12.7, 14.5 and 16.3 days, respectively. However, males fed with 3% tannin lived only 6.4 days. The longevities of female H. halys were similar to those of male (10.1, 14.4, 13.8, 12.0 and 6.1 days for 0, 0.01, 0.1, 1 and 3% tannin concentration, respectively). These results suggest that H. halys invades sweet persimmon orchards during late July and early September when more suitable foods, e.g. soybean, are in short supply and sweet persimmon fruits become suitable for feeding (e.g. lower tannin content).

        톱다리개미허리노린재 페로몬, (E)-2-hexenyl (E)-2-hexenoate과(E)-2-hexenyl (Z)-3-hexenoate의 합성

        톱다리개미허리노린재의 페로몬 성분인 (E)-2-hexenyl (E)-2-hexenoate (1) 과 (E)-2-hexenyl (Z)-3-hexenoate (2)의 합성에 있어 Steglich 에스테르화 반응의 최적 조건을 검토하였다. (E)-2-헥센산 또는 (Z)-3-헥센산에대하여 1-1.5 당량의 디사이클로카보다이이미드 (DCC), 1.5-2.0 당량의 (E)-2-헥센놀과 0.1 당량의 4-디메틸아미노피리딘(DMAP)과 반응하였을 때, 각각 76-78% 와 87-91%의 수율로 1과 2를 얻었다. We investigated optimal condition for synthesis of (E)-2-hexenyl (E)-2-hexenoate (1) and (E)-2-hexenyl (Z)-3-hexenoate (2), the pheromone components of Riptortus pedestris, by Steglich esterification. The reaction with 1.1-1.5 equivalent of dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC), 1.5-2.0 equivalent of (E)-2-hexenol, and 0.1 equivalent 4-dimethylaminopyrinde (DMAP) to (E)-2-hexenoic acid in toluene or (Z)-3-hexenoic acid in dichloromethane led 1 and 2 in 76-78% and 87-91% yield, respectively.

        단감 과수원에서 밤알락명나방의 발생소장과 성페로몬샘 성분의 유인력

        경남과 전남지역의 단감원에서 밤알락명나방의 발생소장과 성페로몬샘의 성분별 및 트랩 종류별 유인력을 조사하였다. 2014년부터 2016년까지 발생소장을 조사한 결과, 밤알락명나방은 년 3회 발생하는 것으로 조사되었다. 각 세대 성충의 발생시기는 월동세대는 4월 상순-5월 하순, 제1세대는 6월 상순-7월 하순, 제2세대는 8월 상순-10월 중순이었다. 성페로몬샘 성분별 유인력은 (Z9,E12)-tetradeca-9,12-dien-1-ol (Z9, E12-14OH) 단독 루어가 (Z)-tetradec-9-en-1-ol (Z9-14OH) 단독 루어보다 유인력이 뛰어났으며, 두 물질을 9:1로 혼합한 루어와 차이가 없었다. 깔대기 트랩과 흰색 및 붉은색 트랩을 비교해 본 결과 트랩 종류 간에는 유인수의 차이가 없었다. Seasonal occurrence of persimmon bark borer moth, Euzophera batangensis, and attractiveness of its sex pheromone gland components and trap types were studied at sweet (non-astringent) persimmon orchards of two southern provinces of Gyeongsangnam-do and Jeollanam-do, Korea, from 2014 to 2016. E. batangensis occurred three times a year. Occurrences of the moths of the over-wintered, the $1^{st}$ and the $2^{nd}$ generations were early April to late May, early June to late July, and early August to mid October, respectively. The (Z9,E12)-tetradeca-9,12-dien-1-ol (Z9,E12-14OH) was more attractive than (Z)-tetradec-9-en-1-ol (Z9-14OH). The Z9,E12-14OH was equally attractive to the 9:1 binary mixture of Z9,E12-14OH and Z9-14OH to the male moths. The three trap types of funnel, white and red delta traps had no effect on the attractiveness of the components.

        Female sex pheromone components of the box tree pyralid,Glyphodes perspectalis, in Korea: Field test and development of film-type lure

        The box tree pyralid, Glyphodes perspectalis, is the most destructive pest of the box tree in Korea andwas recently introduced into Europe. The previously known as EAG active components of this moth, (Z)-11-hexadecenal (Z11-16:Ald), (E)-11-hexadecenal (E11-16:Ald), and (Z)-11-hexadecenol (Z11-16:OH) have been detected from the extracts of female abdomen. The ratios of these three compounds identified in female moth were 5.2:1:0.2 in 2010 and 6.5:1:0.2 in 2011. During field bioassays, it was found that the male moths were not attracted to Z11-16:Ald or E11-16:Ald when used alone; however, they were attracted to a mixture of the above. The most effective ratios of Z11-16:Ald to E11-16:Ald were 5:1 and 7:1. A small amount of Z11-16:OH inhibited male moth attraction in field bioassays. Further, a uni-trap was found to be more effective in catching the moth than delta and wing traps were. In field bioassays using 2 different types of lures, significantly more male G. perspectalis were caught to film-type lures (50.5 ± 4.4/trap) than those to rubber septum lures (35.8 ± 5.2/trap).

        A trap baited with multiple pheromones attracts sympatric hemipteran pests of sweet persimmon

        Sympatric hemipterans such as Riptortus pedestris Thunberg (Hemiptera: Alydidae), Plautia stali Scott (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), and Halyomorpha halys Stål (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) are reported as economic pests of persimmon fruits in Korea and Japan. Multi-attractiveness of the aggregation pheromones (AP) of R. pedestris and P. stali mounted on a single sticky trap was evaluated for the sympatric hemipteran pests of persimmon fruit. Four trap types were prepared; traps mounted with R. pedestris AP alone (lure R), P. stali AP alone (lure P), R. pedestris and P. stali AP mixed in a septum (lure R + P), and traps with two parallel lures (lure R/P). R. pedestris was equally captured in traps carrying lures R + P and R/P. P. stali and Gymnosoma rotundatum (Diptera: Tachinidae), a parasitoid of P. stali, were attracted to the traps included P. stali AP lures; P, R + P, and R/P. All traps carrying lure P attracted H. halys and Glaucias subpunctatus (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), a pest of Japanese cedar and cypress, with no significant difference from control. This study shows that a single trap baited with pheromones of R. pedestris and P. stali together,mixed, or set in parallel, is effective to attract sympatric hemipteran pests of sweet persimmon, R. pedestris, P. stali, G. subpunctatus, and H. halys, in addition to G. rotundatum. Attracting multispecies simultaneously could be a viable option in managing these sympatric pest species.
