The virtual manufacturing technique was applied to a forming of the the vibration damping oil pan. Experiments necessary for the computation such as the tensile test and the formability test were also performed. It was shown that the forming of an oil pan can be improved by controlling process parameters virtually inside the computer before the actual die tryout is performed. From the virtual die tryout, it was suggested that the two-step forming process of the oil pan may be reduced to a single step.
The air flow distribution from register is influenced by the register guide vane shape. More diffused air flow improves demisting & defrosting performance and maintains comfort more rapidly.
In the study, experimental and numerical investigation of the effects of six different register types was carried out. The numerical analysis. modelled upon the turbulence ― model. has been applied to the air flow field. The results show that the register guide vane shape should be considered important design parameter.
With the increasing demands for fast, effective, and reliable mold design in automotive casting products, the Computer Aided Engineering(CAE) plays an important role in reducing cost and development time of a product and acheiving high quality products in a competitive market. Through the CAE application, the casting processes such as solidification and filling can be simulated for predicting the microstructure and shrinkage defects in the products. In this paper, the subject of study is a rear cylinder in the automotive brake system. Through the numerical simulations carried out using the MAGMAsoft, the optimum riser and neck dimensions influencing on the soundness of Ductile Cast Iron(DCI) castings are obtained. The new design based on optimum dimensions reduces the riser volume up to 30% in comparison with the current design.
