As increasing the consumer’s needs for safety system, the tendency of an increasing number of country that legislate mandatory regulation for ESC equipment. In Europe and North America countries, all vehicles are already sold equipped with ESC system. After a few years, vehicles without ESC won’t be sold in many countries and will meet the regulation requirements for certification test. However as an increasing number of country that require to equip ESC system, a number of certification test by OEM are increasing. Also vehicle has many variant in same model because OEMs develop the vehicle to reflect consumer’s various need s in each country. Because of this, ECE R13, regulation for braking in Europe, allows homologation to be undertaken by test-supported simulation. If vehicle has been physically tested, the compliance of versions or variants of that same vehicle type can be demonstrated by computer simulation. This paper is evaluated vehicle model compare with real vehicle for simulation-based ESC regulation test and compliance test.

Vehicle parameters affect the dynamic characteristics of the vehicle. Generally, the vehicle parameters are fixed. However, the parameters may be changed by the options of vehicle and tuning even if the vehicle has been manufactured on the same platform. This paper shows how to analyze ESP performance by the driving simulation test at extreme condition and by changing the vehicle parameters. ESP system was developed using Carsim and Matlab/Simulink. The simulation result are to be presented and discussed in this paper.

This paper presents a effectiveness of shock absorber condition on vehicle handling performance including ESC(Electric Stability Control) system. ESC is very robustness system and assure the performance without wavering in small change. However it is depend on how well tuned ESC system. To analysis effectiveness of shock absorber, made two different condition of shock absorber assuming that it was worn. One thing is normal condition shock absorber and second is removed nitrogen gas in gas chamber. Shock absorbers were measured damping force for piston distance and velocity by damping machine and compared for damping force characteristic. Than these are applied to two vehicle that are old and present generation vehicle and compared performance on ESC regulation test. Finally, this paper is showed the important to consider about various vehicle and component condition when ESC development.

The pre-crash safety systems are being actively studied in the automotive industries. The performance evaluation of the system on the test road is very limited due to danger, and so the hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) method is widely adopted instead. In this research, a radar sensor emulator has been developed for use in real-time application. In this paper, a radar sensor emulator has been developed for use in real-time application. They take the position information about obstacles in the virtual environment and send out electrical sensor signals via CAN communication. Radar sensor emulator collects data on the CAN bus and transfer data to ACC ECU. These emulators were made as stand-alone modules on their own microcontroller. Their performance was evaluated on the pre-crash safety HILS system that was built in this study.

Recently EBCM are common standard equipment on vehicles for vehicle dynamic control. Accordingly customers are provided many benefits of safety and convenience. Hill Start Assist system is one of additional functions that assist to driver on hill road. During the development process, there are required much work-hour that is caused by space limit. However, HIL (Hardware-In-the Loop) has to reduce development and validation time for dynamics controls systems. This paper is introduced the HSA system and described a method of evaluation using HIL simulator. The simulation results have been evaluated through HIL simulator on the virtual roads include various slopes and confirmed to compare with physical test.

ESC(Electric Stability Control) that is one of Chassis Control System is recently popularized function of vehicle safety system to control vehicle motion by brake and engine torque. One of major factors on ESC system is vehicle reference model that is reflected vehicle motion on stable situation. Vehicle control system’s performance depends greatly on the vehicle reference model. Vehicle reference model is related by variable factor such as suspension, mass, dimension, steering, tire and etc. As the vehicle reference model, it sometimes cause over-control or unintended intervention issues. In this paper, the research focused on relationship between tire characteristic and vehicle reference model via statistic analysis. Tire width, aspect ratio, diameter, lateral force, aligning moment and rolling resistence moment are selected by Tire characteristic factors and they are measured by 17 different tires. Vehicle reference model is evaluated by vehicle characteristic speed. The present work suggests the regression model for estimating vehicle characteristic speed to estimate vehicle reference model using tire factors. Finally it expects to estimate efficiency of ESC performance by tire changing.

Recently, a few of safety function is more active interaction in dangerous situation to prevent accident. HBB(Hydraulic Brake Boost) is one of additional function of EBCM(Electronic Brake Control Module) to compensate brake performance on lack of vacuum condition in brake booster. When the vacuum of brake booster is not enough due to mechanical fault, repetitive pedal apply, lack of engine power and etc., HBB system support to have enough brake performance. Also in the suddenly acceleration accident situation, it was several issued on mass media, HBB will be help to compensate brake performance a lack of vacuum in booster due to engine overload. In vehicle, engine supplied the vacuum to brake booster. However in the full throttle situation, all of engine capability use to increase vehicle acceleration. Then the vacuum of brake booster was lack and vehicle couldn’t have enough brake performance. In the paper, HBB system was evaluated on several vacuum condition. It was so dangerous test on lack of vacuum condition on real vehicle test. For that reason, HIL(Hardware Inthe-Loop) simulation was used to evaluated to avoid potential accident. Also it was easy to control the vacuum of brake boost in HIL simulator. The level of vacuum was seperated 3 level (normal, low, no vacuum) to evaluate brake performance by comparison HBB system was applied and not applied.

Recently, almost of automotive company focus to improve simulation capability. Indeed, simulation is very useful method to evaluate and estimate vehicle performance. Because it is best way to save cost and time via computer simulation instead of physical test in vehicle development process. Although simulations had many benefits, simulations are used in only limited areas of vehicle development. Almost of vehicle dynamics simulation are executed objective tests that are evaluated vehicle performance using specific values, it doesn’t need special road for objective test that is tested in flat road. This paper is aimed to extend availability of simulation in vehicle dynamics. Although many test of vehicle dynamics evaluations are tested on public road, they didn"t executed simulation on public roads. If they are able to execute simulation instead of physical test on public road, it will be able to simulate more number of test than physical. However, for simulation on public road, it needs to road profile same as public road. This paper proposes method of virtual road build for pre-work to evaluate public road in simulation environment. Virtual road is measured by RT4100 series that include GPS and Gyro sensor, process of virtual road build verified to construct having various condition roads.
