Vol.60 No.2
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to synthesize systematic reviews and meta analyses of the use and reporting of evaluation frameworks for health promotion programs. Methods: A systematic search was performed using three d atabases (PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus ). Three authors independently reviewed the titles and abstracts of the identified stud ies, and relevant data were extracted according to the inclusion criteria. The research findings were synthesized descriptively. Results: Ten studies were included. Seven of these studies reviewed the application of a specific framework for various health promotion programs, while the remaining three analyzed the use of different evaluation frameworks for specific health promotion programs. The RE AIM framework was most frequently applied in intervention studies, including those related to physical activity , and was predominantly used predominantly. Conclusion: Given the continued publication of studies on the issues and directions of applying the RE-AIM framework according to cumulative usage, future research should conduct a systematic evaluation based on such studies.
c-Myc Stimulates Cell Invasion by Inhibiting FBX8 Function

c-Myc is a cellular onco-protein and a transcriptional acti-vator important for cell growth, cell division, and tumori-genesis. Despite all that is known of its function, the me-chanism of how c-Myc contributes to tumorigenesis is unclear. To gain insight into the mechanism through which c-Myc protein exerts its oncogenic activity, we performed large-scale, tandem repeat affinity purification and identi-fied the F box only protein 8 (FBX8), an F-box and Sec7 domain-containing protein, as a novel Myc-binding protein. The c-Myc/FBX8 interaction was mediated by the c-Myc box II (MBII) region. We also confirmed that Myc protein overexpression in 293T cells affected FBX8 cellular trans-location and led to recovery from FBX8-mediated inhibi-tion of ADP-ribosylation factor 6 (ARF6) function during cell invasion. Together, these results suggest that FBX8 is a novel c-Myc binding protein and that c-Myc induces cell invasive activity through the inhibition of FBX8 effects on ARF6 function during cell invasion.

We already had reported that Bcl-w promotes invasion or migration in gastric cancer cells and glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) by activating matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) via specificity protein 1 (Sp1) or -cateinin, respectively. High expression of Bcl-w also has been reported in GBM which is the most common malignant brain tumor and exhibits aggressive and invasive behavior. These reports propose that Bcl-w-induced signaling is strongly associated with aggressive characteristic of GBM. We demonstrated that Sp1 protein or mRNA expression is induced by Bcl-w using Western blotting or RT-PCR, respectively, and markedly elevated in high-grade glioma specimens compared with low-grade glioma tissues using tissue array. However, relationship between Bcl-w-related signaling and aggressive characteristic of GBM is poorly characterized. This study suggested that Bcl-w-induced Sp1 activation promoted expression of glioma stem-like cell markers, such as Musashi, Nanog, Oct4 and sox-2, as well as neurosphere formation and invasiveness, using western blotting, neurosphere formation assay, or inva-sion assay, culminating in their aggressive behavior. There- fore, Bcl-w-induced Sp1 activation is proposed as a putative marker for aggressiveness of GBM.

Lysophosphatidylcholine (lysoPC) induces vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation and migration, which has been proposed to initiate the intimal thickening in coronary atherosclerotic lesions. Berberine is an alkaloid in Berberis aquifolium and many other plants. Recently, it has been shown to have beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system, such as anti-hyperglycemic and cholesterol-lowering activity. In this study, we investigated its effects on lysoPCinduced VSMC proliferation and migration. Berberine inhibited lysoPC-induced DNA synthesis and cell proliferation in VSMCs, as well as migration of the lysoPC-stimulated VSMCs. It also inhibited the activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERKs) and reduced transcription factor AP-1 activity and the lysoPC-induced increases in intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS). These results indicate that the inhibitory effects of berberine on lysoPC-stimulated VSMC proliferation and migration are attributable to inhibition of ROS generation and hence of activation of the ERK1/2 pathway. This suggests that berberine has potential in the prevention of atherosclerosis and restenosis.
