Objectives : This report intended to estimate effect taken by using acupuncture, herbal medication on the patient with Pyogenic Spondylitis Methods : From 17 December, 2003 to 30 August, 2004. The patient received TDP, Infra-Red and Acupuncture therapy. Results : After being hospitalized for 8 months, the patient's Motor Grade, VAS, ODI, Nurick's grading system were improved each from III to IV+, from 5 to 4, from 21.25 to 17.5, from Gr. IV to Gr. II. Conclusion : We considered that oriental treatment has an useful effect on Pyogenic spondylitis patient's treatment and recovery.

Many existing reinforced concrete (RC) frame structures that had designed and constructed in Korea before 1997 do not meet the current seismic design requirements set forth by the Korea Building Code and have an inadequate safety assessment. For those structures constructed with insufficient strength and ductility, the required stiffness was also not provided. The frames of these structures have been designed to resist only gravity loads or gravity and moderate lateral loads and do not have proper reinforcement details needed to ensure ductile behavior. In this study, to improve the seismic capacity of masonry walls, hexagonal blocks were developed and the influence of masonry infilled wall on the seismic performance of RC frames that were designed in accordance with current code provisions were investigated. Four 1/2 scale, single story, single bay, frame specimens were tested. The parameters included that the strength of infilled walls using hexagonal blocks with respect to that of the reinforcemet and lateral load history were investigated. The experimental results were shown that infilled wall could significantly improve the performance of RC frames. The lateral loads developed by the infilled frame specimen were higher than that of the bare frame. It also were indicated that reinforced hexagonal block infilled walls could be potentially used to improve the performance of existing nonductile frames.

Objective: The purpose of this case study is to show a case of ulcer due to buerger's disease improved by conservative acupuncture therapy. Methods : The patient was treated from 29 December, 2003 to 12 April, 2004. The patient received TDP, Infra-Red and Acupuncture therapy. Results: We evaluated through visual analog scale(VAS) and picture of patient's hand. Conclusion: We suggest to treat ulcer resulting from buerger's disease with Acupuncture therapy as a conservative therapy and would like to research acupuncture treatment plan for the further treatment.

Objective: This study is to explore the various aspects of the fatigue perceived by patients with Bell's palsy Method: 33 patients who were diagnosed as Bell's palsy were sequentially interviewed and examined Results: The results were as follows 1. The mean average fatigue score of subjects was $1.79{\pm}0.41$ : the physical fatigue revealed the highest value with a mean of $1.84{\pm}0.50$, followed by neurosensory fatigue with a mean of $1.77{\pm}0.42$, psychological fatigue with a mean score of $1.76{\pm}0.54$. 2. With the respect to the general characteristics of subjects, there were statistically significant differences in the patients' fatigue perception by age and the amount of sleeping time. Conclusions: We needed the further study about the relation between fatigue and Bell's palsy

비위허로 변증하여 비화음을 투여한 다발성 말초신경병증 1례

Objectives : This study is to report a case that polyneuropathy can be caused by deficiency syndrome of spleen and stomach. Methods : The patient had eaten almost nothing and felt nausea for four months, so we diagnosed his case as deficiency syndrome of spleen and stomach in the point of oriental medicine, and prescribed Beewha-eum(Bihe-yin) for him with acupuncture, physical therapy and dosage of western medicine for a certain period. And we adopted several scales to estimate the progress of his symptoms. Results : Soon after taking herbal medication with other treatments, the patient could recover an appetite and was able to eat without nausea. Besides recovering an appetite, other symptoms such as weakness and paresthesia of both legs were also improved. Conclusions : In this case, we assume that Beewha-eum(Bihe-yin) play an important role in improvement of his polyneuorpathy. The Beewha-eum(Bihe-yin) is one of herb medications that correct deficiency syndrome of spleen and stomach. In the view of oriental medicine, spleen and stomach control the limbs. So in this case recovered stomach and spleen by Beewhaeum( Bihe-yin) improved the weakness and paresthesia of both legs. Therefore we can use Beewha-eum(Bihe-yin) for treating polyneuropathy caused by deficiency syndrome of spleen and stomach.

In this study, to improve the seismic performance of masonry walls, hexagonal blocks were developed and the influence of masonry infilled walls on the seismic performance of reinforced concrete(RC) frames that were designed in accordance with current code provisions are investigated. Two 1/2 scale, single story, single bay, frame specimens were tested. The parameters investigated included that the strength of infill panels with respect to that of the lateral load history.
