In order to measure the implementation effect of the behavior-based energy efficiency program, the energy reduction must be accurately calculated by calculating the customer baseline load.

Feasibility studies are performed to determine the suitability of a novel simple synthesis technique for fabricating a new Ti alloy with improved strength and ductility, while exhibiting lower cell toxicity. Through consolidating pure Ti powders under a C atmosphere at elevated temperatures, a bulk form of the Ti alloy, in which a quantifiable amount of C is dissolved, is synthesized. While the alloy is free from toxic elements such as Al and V, the strength and ductility of the developed alloy are comparable to, or better than, those of its commercial Ti-6Al-4V alloy counterpart. In this study, the method to design the alloy, its synthesis, and the resultant properties are reported.
분말야금법을 이용한 알루미늄 발포금속의 제조에 관한 연구

In this study the effects of some factors on foaming property were investigated in powder compact foaming process. First of all, production of metal foam strongly depends on the green density of precursor and when the density is low, expansion is low or does not occur by leak of hydrogen gas and/or internal oxidation due to inflow of oxygen. The foaming of precursor starts when its temperature arrives at melting point of Al and in viewpoints of expansion ratio, pore size distribution and morphology, the optimum foamed structure is obtained when the foaming process is finished at melting end point. The structure is also affected by heating rate depending on setting temperature of furnace and the most suitable temperature in this work was 800℃ higher about 150℃ than Al melting temperature. It is suggested that foaming agent content is desirable to be below 1 wt.%.
다양한 형상을 갖는 알루미늄 발포금속 충진 튜브의 에너지 흡수능

In this study various types of Al foam filled tubes were fabricated using foam of A1-12wt%Si by powder metallurgical process. Their energy absorbing efficiencies were investigated with compression test, focusing on the structure and bonding effects between tube and foam. The results show that the energy absorption is affected by structure of Al foam filled tube. Among fully foam filled tube, partially foam filled tube and Al hollow tube with the same weight, fully foam filled tube seems to have superior potential for industrial application to energy absorption parts. Also energy absorption efficiency is increased by interaction between tube and foam and especially, bonding between tube and metallic foam gives rise to increase the energy absorption efficiency up to above 1.2 times. This results from the arrest of folding of tube by metallic foam and the change of stress mode from uni-axial to multi-axial during compression. (Received September 30, 2004)
