In helicopter blade design, it is essential to get the accurate dynamic characteristics of the composite helicopter rotor blades including natural frequencies and mode shapes, which determine the susceptibility of the rotor system to aeroelastic instability and large vibratory response. In this study, the dynamic characteristics of helicopter rotor blades are investigated with various composite material twisted cross sections, ply angles, and rotation speed.
On predicting epileptic seizures from intracranial electroencephalography

This study investigates the sensitivity andspecificity of predicting epileptic seizures from intracranialelectroencephalography (iEEG). A monitoring system isstudied to generate an alarm upon detecting a precursor ofan epileptic seizure. The iEEG traces of ten patients sufferingfrom medically intractable epilepsy were used tobuild a prediction model. From the iEEG recording of eachpatient, power spectral densities were calculated and classifiedusing support vector machines. The prediction resultsvaried across patients. For seven patients, seizures werepredicted with 100% sensitivity without any false alarms. One patient showed good sensitivity but lower specificity,and the other two patients showed lower sensitivity andspecificity. Predictive analytics based on the spectral featureof iEEG performs well for some patients but not all. This result highlights the need for patient-specific predictionmodels and algorithms.
Semantics of Before and After in Korean

This paper aims to provide a formal account of morphological selection of Korean before and after clauses in terms of semantics. Being tenseless however marked with different morphemes, Korean before and after clauses shed a new light on the discussions of selectional requirements of before and after clauses. I will show that before and after in Korean exhibit the schism based on the presence of Earliest operator of the type <i,t>,t> only in after clauses, which is in nature a pronoun. This will be confirmed with various tests including the distribution of mod-insertion rule (cf. Kitagawa and Ross 1982, An 2014 among others) in the relevant data. As a result, the complement of {Earliest, After} has to be relativized to provide a correct syntactic/semantic composition in after clauses. In contrast to Korean after, Korean before doesn’t involve such pronominal element therefore it does not require the relativization of the embedded clause.

Modern helicopter rotor blades with non-homogeneous cross section composed of anisotropic material rquire highly sophisticated structural analysis. Variation in cross section geometry makes this task of analysis more complicated. Since rotor blades generally are much longer than their lateral dimensions, one-dimensional models seem feasible, at least from a computational point of view. Therefore determination of the principal coordinate system is very important to remove the structural coupling for one-dimensional beam modelling. In this study, shear center, and principal direction. The method will be verified by comparing the results with confirmed experimental results.

이 논문은 자연 지능의 지식 및 지혜 습득의 본질을 더 잘 반영하는 인공 지능의 구현을 모색한다. 일반적으로 알려진 것처럼, 현재의 인공 지능은 이미지 데이터뿐만 아니라 텍스트 데이터, 즉 코퍼스를 활용하여 데이터와 정보를 학습하고 축적한다. 결과적으로, 현재의 인공 지능은 자연 지능과 유사하게 생각하는지에 관하여 부족한 점 혹은 문제점 등이 종종 지적되곤 한다. 우리가 이 논문에서 제안하는 것은 새로운 형태의 인공 지능이 사람, 특히 어린 아이들이 세계에 대한 지식과 지혜를 획득해 가는 습득 과정을 모방하고 혹은 이보다 효과적인 방법을 취하여야 한다는 점이다. 이상적인 측면에서, 본고가 제안하는 것은 예를 들어, 대화 혹은 문답 형식으로 생각의 교류를 이루는 소위 소크라테스의 문답형 변증법을 구현하는 것이다. 이를 통하여, 인공 지능이 스스로 발전하면서 그리고 자기의 앎을 성찰하면서 데이터나 정보뿐만 아니라 지식과 지혜를 습득해 나아가는 것이다. 인공지능이 지식과 지혜에 대해 사람과 같은 능력을 정말로 도달할 수 있는지의 가능성에 관하여 최근 새롭게 도입되는 지식 및 지혜를 습득하는 모델로서 ‘설명 가능한’ 인공지능(X-able AI) 그리고 의미 파서(Semantic Parser)를 재검토하면서 추가 논의를 진행하였다. This paper proposes a more reality-reflecting implementation of artificial intelligence (AI). The current form of AI generally learns or accumulates data or information on the basis of corpora or textual data on top of image data. Thus, the net result is that it has many things to be desired in human-like performance. We suggest that the learning procedure for the new form of AI needs to simulate or emulate the human or children’s learning trajectory of acquiring knowledge, and furthermore, wisdom about the world. Ideally, the suggested learning procedure implements, for example, the so-called Socratic method using dialogues or question-answer exchanges, thus the self-developing and introspective AI acquiring not just data and information but also knowledge and wisdom. As a newly advanced knowledge-acquiring model, Explainable-AI and Semantic Parsing are reviewed and discussed in regard to the potential to truly attain the human-like ability in knowledge and wisdom.
