Confucian didactics had been well practiced among gentlmen in the buraucratic society of Lee dynasty. The most highly learned, respected, dignified gentlemen with their administrative jobs stood as the ruling class of a cast in the stable society of agriculture. These gentlemen pursued their loyalty toward King, and filial duty to their ancestor, and domination at their household. Value of men's life is evaluated through restraining or controlling in themselues and manage well in their household, they subdued their country into peace. As the gentlemen owned enormous part of lands, they did not have to work as a bread winner for their family, they rather refined their intelligence in study of Chinese characters and kept on themselves faithfully in following Confucion principles. Their refined intelligence and knowledge are utilized in seeking. justifiable way of man's actions rather than their own individual comforts or luxuaries. In the era of the perished country from the last king of Sun Zong to the reign of Japanese rule, a gentleman of a country town, Toyung, found no place to live outside world of his men's society. The herbdoctor Kim in his study room could not look forward to some future life. He had to confront his present existence all its dark and terrifying forms. At his household, Herbdoctor Kim still remains absolutely dignified figurehead. Outside world, he is powerless as a baby. What is the value of the intelligent man's existence? He was unable to find justifiable way of motivation on his action when his past belief of value is not accepted at his society under Japanese rule. What is the value of his life when no longer there exists his traditional belief? Others than Confucians pursued retaining their lands or prosperity of wealth in a way of compromise with Japanese administrators, men or women with their modern education obtained their belief in Western God; Christianity. Since Confucion principle has not led Lee dynasty's traditional gentlemen into any religious solution, and one 5 own comfort or luxury could not be the gentlemen's ultimate aim of their existence, Herbdoctor kim and Mr. Chai in "Earth" had remained in little action of motivation, and in existencialism. Conventional way of realistic attitude is beyond their world. Other men with their physical violence ran into rioting as terrorists against Japanese police or pro-Japanese administrators. However, the traditional intellectuals never beleived in any physical power of violence. Author Mrs. Kungri Park tried to establish image of our traditional intellectuals in both novels, "Herbdoctor Kim's daughters' and "Earth". In Christian cultural society, men's vast problem of modern existence is compared to the world in a picture of Hell where is full of men...living in fear and hopeless self-contradictory hungers. In Christian metaphysics, men try to learn from God how to be happy, which is the firm religions solution. Traditional Christianity has given Western intellectuals self-knowledge as an approach to God. In the twentieth cntury, modern intellectuals could not be satisfied with their solution of Christian metaphysics alone. Protestant ethics are widely criticized. Extencialism has influenced or dominated in modern novels, especially in high brow literature. T.S. Eliot has seen the modern society as Waste land, however, he has indicated us that this modern society of destructive world can be converted in the new order of religious solution. Andre Gide has shown us man's religious doubt by the death of Alisa in "Strait is Gate". Earnest Hemingway tried to stick in strife of masculine beauty in man's action or motivation. Nor­man Maylor has seeked destruction of masculinity of man's existence in the mosern society. Saul Bellow is not gentile. His inner strife in his soul can not be solved in Christian God whom Juda has betrayed. Since he is Jewish and living in Christian cultural society, his extencial struggle for peace is very much alike our modern traditional jn Korea.

성별에 따른 영어사용상의 차이·차별에 대한 연구

The purpose of this study is to help Korean learners of English to use non-sexist English by raising their consciousness about gender differences and discriminations in use of English. An investigation is made of the gender differences and discriminations in use of English from the following perspectives. There is a widespread belief that women talk more than men, yet research findings consistently contradict this. Men have been shown to talk more than women is such settings as staff meetings and television panel discussions. The myth of the talkative woman prevails mainly in a male-dominant society: while men have the right to talk, women are expected to remain silent, as an English proverb says that "silence is the best ornament of a woman." Men and women have different interactional styles. Men tend to dominate conversation by interrupting women's turn to talk while women are more supportive by inserting minimal responses. This conversational management is one way in which power relations may be worked out. The last is gender differences in conversational styles. These differences come mostly from differences of socio-psychological traits between men and women. Men's concern with power and independence produces men's competitive style of discourse while women's emphasis on intimacy and connection produces cooperative style of discourse. The potential miscommunication can arise directly from the different overall styles of men's and women's conversations. In order to prevent a breakdown in communication caused by different conversational styles between men and women, some solutions are suggested in this study.

은행산업 집중화와 위험추구 행위에 대한 실증분석

본 연구는 1995-2008년의 패널자료를 이용하여 국내은행산업 집중화가 은행의 위험추구행위에 영향을 미치는지에 대한 실증분석을 수행하였으며 새로운 실증결과를 제시하였다. 실증분석결과는 다음과 같이 요약된다. 첫째, 은행산업 집중화는 위험추구행위에 영향을 미치나 그 효과는 비선형인 것으로 나타났다. 예대비율을 위험지표로 사용한 분석결과에서는 기존연구와 마찬가지로 시장집중화가 위험추구에 미치는 효과가 체증적으로 나타난 반면, 고정이하여신비율, 중소기업대출비율, 대손상각률, 무수익여신비율 등의 다른 위험지표를 사용한 분석에서는 일관되게 시장집중화가 체감적으로 위험추구에 영향을 미친다는 새로운 결과를 얻었다. 둘째, 시장집중화 뿐 아니라 개별은행의 대형화도 위험추구에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 개별은행의 대형화의 효과에 대한 증거는 시장집중화에 비해 상대적으로 약하게 나타났다. 이는 개별은행의 대형화는 주로 시장 독점력의 확보를 통해 위험추구에 영향을 미친다는 것을 암시한다. 우리나라 은행산업의 시장집중화는 2001년 50%를 초과하였으며 2008년 71.6%를 기록했다. 본 연구의 결과는 최근의 시장집중화의 진전은 위험추구를 감소시켰다는 것을 의미하며, 따라서 금융 감독 당국은 시장안정화 보다는 대형은행의 독과점이윤 추구행위에 대한 적절한 규제에 정책적 중점을 두어야 한다는 것을 시사한다.

A Study of Cross-Gender Conversational Styles Reflected in Love Actually

The aim of this study is to help learners to be aware of cross-gender conversational style differences and ultimately to assist them to have better communication by looking into dialogues in a movie. Evidence is revealed from the movie Love Actually (Curtis, 2003) to establish that the conversational style of women and men differs, and show how it differs and discuss why women and men talk differently. Studying dialogues in movies is an effective way to help students to learn about cross-gender conversational styles, because they provide authentic contexts with abundant examples of real conversations. It is not easy to implement the findings of the study in an ESL environment, in which the primary goal is language acquisition. However, language is a part of culture, and it is necessary to educate students about the culture as a whole so that they might better understand the part language plays in it. Gender differences in communication are part of culture. ESL teachers are encouraged to make their students aware of differing conversational styles between men and women. Through a deeper awareness, students can better understand the nuances and subtleties of English conversation.

Hormonal Changes of the Brain-Dead Organ Donors: A 3-Year Experience

Background: Success of transplantation is critically dependent upon the quality of the donor organ and optimal management. Recently, hormonal replacement therapy has been reported to result in rapid recovery of cardiac function and enable significantly more organs to be transplanted, while some other studies show conflicting results. The aim of this study is to comprehensively evaluate changes in basal circulating hormonal levels of the brain-dead organ donors. Methods: We reviewed the records of all brain-dead patients between January, 2004, and June, 2007. Hemodynamic variables, plasma hormone levels were recorded at following time points: admission to the ICU (T1, baseline), 30 minutes (min) after first apnea test (T2), 30 min after second apnea test (T3), before operation for harvesting (T4). Hormonal measurements included cortisol, adrenocorticotrophic hormone, triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine, free thyroxine, thyroid-stimulating hormone, growth hormone, and testosterone. Results: Nineteen patients were included in this study. Comparisons of hemodynamic parameters and hormonal levels to baseline values revealed no significant changes throughout the study period. When the patients were divided into 2 groups according to the requirement of norepinephrine (either>0.05 or ≤0.05μg/kg/min), patients requiring >0.05μg/kg/min of norepinephrine had T3 level below the normal range at significantly more time points of measurement (7 vs. 0). Conclusions: In this comprehensive assessment of hormonal levels in brain-dead organ donors, we could not observe any significant changes during the ICU stay. Replacement therapy of T3 may be considered in patients requiring >0.05μg/kg/min of norepinephrine.

Use of an American TV Drama Glee for Moral and Emotional Lessons

It is often heard that lately, among the young generation, there is a growing tendency to be generally individualistic, immoral, materialistic, selfish and competitive. How can they change? This study strongly argues that the use of a TV drama, one form of film, is a useful tool for developing a deeper understanding of moral and emotional lessons due to its impact on viewers, or students of all ages. This study aims to investigate what moral and emotional benefits there are in using an English TV drama Glee (Murphy & Falchuk, 2009) as a teaching medium in the language classroom. For this end, this study encourages students to learn the moral and emotional lessons through specific use of Glee episodes. The specific moral lessons the students will learn are Future career: Do what you really want to do; Don’t be the bully; Understand others’ identity (sexual orientation); Equal opportunity can exist: Diversity, Minority Issues; Appearance - Self-Esteem / Self Image; Physically Challenged; Teen Pregnancy & Celibacy; and Honesty (Lying). Each lesson section includes the storyline of the episode, related dialogue, students’ responses and teacher’s comments on the issues.

Male chauvinism has been domineering through our cultural history. Men's assumption on women had been the weaker sex who are handicapped by having biological inferioritis (menstration, pregnancy, lactation, stamina, pelvic stricture, plysical make up, and menopause). Throughout our recorded history, female was excluded from society, however, in literature both in poetry and novels, women were described as well as men. Furthermore women expressed themselves as a poetess and authoress. Job discrimination against women has been widely complained by women, yet women's profession in writing was the oldest one. "Tales of Ghenzy" by Lady murasaki was written first through the history of novels. Cultural determination on women was tenderness, kindness, concern ; protestant ethic and confucious principles on women demanded sexual marality. Until Feminists and woman writers expressed, complained and protested against descrimination, however, those were yet subordinative acclaim. Sulvia Plaths Her creation was fundamentally different from our traditional conception, her self-identification in poetry and novel was initiation of females independence that no male writer could imitate.

핵심어 검출을 위한 단일 끝점 DTW알고리즘

본 논문에서는 핵심어 검출 시스템을 실시간 적용이 가능한 하드웨어로 구현하기 위해 연산량이 적고 구조가 간단한 단일 끝점 DTW 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 일반적 DTW가 양쪽 끝점을 요구하는데 비하여 단지 한쪽 끝점만 필요하므로 이용하기에 편리하며, 국부 검색의 연속이 전역 경로를 이루게 되므로 매우 적은 연산량을 가진다. 그리고, 제안한 단일 끝점 DTW가 보다 나은 성능을 지니도록 하기 위해 새로운 경사 가중치와 거리 측정법을 가지도록 하였다. 이외에도, 단일 끝점 DTW는 특징벡터 정규화를 적용하여 특징벡터 각각의 차원에서 데이터들이 같은 표준편차를 가지게 하며 모든 프레임이 같은 에너지를 가지도록 정규화 되었다 또한, 주어진 학습 패턴들에 클러스터링을 적용한 후, 각 클러스터 내에서 평균을 계산하여 구한 패턴을 해당 핵심어를 대표하는 여러 개의 기준패턴으로 삼았다. 이러한 기준패턴들과 입력 음성의 특징벡터가 이미 정해진 문턱값 보다 작은 거리 내에 있을 때 핵심어는 검출된다. 제안된 알고리즘을 고립단어 음성인식과 핵심어 검출 실험에 적용하여 다른 방법을 이용한 결과보다 성능이 뛰어남을 확인하였다. In order to implement a real time hardware for keyword spotting, we propose a Single-End-Point DTW(SEP-DTW) algorithm which is simple and less complex for computation. The SEP-DTW algorithm only needs a single end point which enables efficient applications, and it has a small wont of computations because the global search area is divided into successive local search areas. Also, we adopt new local constraints and a new distance measure for a better performance of the SEP-DTW algorithm. Besides, we make a normalization of feature same vectors so that they have the same variance in each frequency bin, and each frame has the same energy levels. To construct several reference patterns for each keyword, we use a clustering algorithm for all training patterns, and mean vectors in every cluster are taken as reference patterns. In order to detect a key word for input streams of speech, we measure the distances between reference patterns and input pattern, and we make a decision whether the distances are smaller than a pre-defined threshold value. With isolated speech recognition and keyword spotting experiments, we verify that the proposed algorithm has a better performance than other methods.

企業體에서의 年俸制 導入에 따른 法律問題에 관한 硏究

年俸制는 90年代 初 몇몇 기업에서 도입하기 시작한 이래로 業種과 企業規模와는 상관없이 거의 전 기업에 확산되고 있다. 年俸制를 도입하는 것이 반드시 生産性 向上에 도움을 주는 것은 아니지만 이러한 시대적 흐름 속에서 우리 企業들은 대부분 年俸制를 도입할 것으로 예상된다. 그런데 이미 살펴본 바와 같이 年俸制가 제대로 정착되려면 勤勞基準法을 비롯한 각종 법령들이 정비되어야 할 필요가 있다. 우리의 勤勞環境이 勤勞基準法 制定 당시에 비하여 월등히 좋아졌고 또한 다양한 형태의 勤勞契約이 사실상 존재하는 현실을 고려하여 勤勞基準法이 개정될 필요가 있다. 미국의 예에서 보듯이 時間外勤務手當을 적용 받지 않아도 되는 勤勞者와 적용을 받는 勤勞者로 나누는 것이 필요하며, 國民年金을 비롯한 각종 社會保障制度가 어느 정도는 갖추어졌으므로 勞動部長官은 退職金 制度를 雇傭保驗法에 정한 바대로 勞使兩者의 입장을 고려하여 탄력적으로 개정하여야 한다. 私見으로는 退職金 制度를 任意規定으로 轉換하는 것이 바람직한 것으로 여겨진다. 이렇게 변경하더라도 就業規則의 不利益한 變更은 앞에서 살펴본 바와 같이 勤勞者의 集團的 意思決定 方式에 의한 同意를 얻어야만 有效한 변경이 되므로 勤勞者가 不利益을 받을 가능성이 적어 보이기 때문이다. 또한 通常賃金과 平均賃金으로 이원화되어 있는 基準賃金을 단일 基準賃金으로 再設定할 필요가 있다. 나아가 醫療保險을 비롯한 각종 社會保障保險의 保險料 算定基準이 되는 金額을 單一化할 필요가 있으며. 勤勞者와 관련이 있는 '勤勞者의 賃金, 報酬. 所得, 收入' 등의 개념에 관한 有權解釋을 勞動部의 有權解釋으로 일원화하고 保險料는 保險料率로써 가감할 수 있도록 하는 것이 각종 社會保障保險의 管理를 더욱 용이하게 할 수 있는 방법이 된다. 예컨대 私立學校 敎職員의 年金管理 方式을 적용하여 時間外勤務手當의 규정을 적용 받지 아니하는 勤勞者의 경우에는 실제로 그가 얼마의 年俸을 받든지 管理公團에서 勤勞者의 經歷 등을 기준으로 산정한 등급을 적용하는 방식을 도입한다면 退職金 및 社會保障保險의 保險料와 관련된 문제는 해소되리라고 생각된다.
