The authors have experienced a case of general anesthesia for a premature baby of congenital esophageal atresia with tracheo-esophgeal fistula, and postoperative atelectasis at right lung field. Removal of secretions, and expansion of collapsed lung intermittently durinng surgical manipulation were thought to be necessary for the prevention of post-operative lung complications. Postural drainage with intermittent positive pressure breathing, and keeping the patient in incubator with oxygen and humidity after anesthesia was recommended. Anesthetics which irritate the respiratory tract and increase secretion must be avoided. Selection of proper sized endotracheal tube has been stressed to prevent traumatic intubation.

Most of spinning faults which influence the yarn quality are caused by drafting parts where by, in most cases, periodical draft variations may be produced. These periodical variations, mainly caused by eccentric roller, can hve a less inflnence on u % of the yarn, but greater on appearance of the finished fabric. The periodical variations are to be clasified according to their lengths, ie, short term, medium term, and long term variations. 1) Short term variations Even a small additional periodical variation cause more intensive accumulations of extreme thick and thin spots lying beside each other in the finished fabric. In most cases, these accumulaions produce a poor overall picture (moire effect) 2) Medium term variations In the finished product, medium term variations are recognizable only under certain conditions. 3) Long term variations. Mostly, these cause strong bars across the finished fabric (bar effect). Long term variations are recognizable at any wave length.

In this paper, the sizing process has been evaluated in terms of quality control. Because of the fundmental differences on the characteristics of both the spun yarn and the filament yarn, the evaluation of those of sized yarn was needed. One of the most importances of quality control in the sizing process will be the process of managing size pick up. Because of changes in concentration and viscosity of paste, yarn speed and squeeze pressure, the exact and better control of these factors are essential to maintain the size pick up. To evaluate the sized yarn, the emphasis had been in the area of tensile strength, elongation, resistance to abrasion and hairiness in the previous period, but today the importanc lies rather on the size application quality, which is combination of size penetration and encapsulation, in the process of size control. For instance, hairiness and resistance to abrasion are related with the encapsulation, and at the same time the tensile strength and elongation are related with the penetration.

Corriedale wool fiber were treated with aqueous sodium bisulfite (NaHSO₃) and followed by the treatment with aqueous alkali(NaOH). The number of crimps per unit length (n/inch) of extended fiber without stretching and the crimp ratio i.e., b-a/a×100, were measured. The following conclusions may be drawn from the results of this work; (1) The number of crimps of wool fiber was increased with the increase of alkali concentration and treating time. (2) The crimp ratio was increased remarkably intreatment of 0.4% NaOH Sol. and 40Min.

Wool fibers and wool yarns were treated with aqueous sodium bisulfite (NaHSO₃) and followed by the treatment with aqueous alkali (NaOH), to investigate strength and elongation. Treatment condition; NaHSO₃‥‥‥30min, 0.05M Conc., NaOH ‥‥‥40min., Various Conc., The following conclusions were drawn from the results of this work; (1) The strength of wool fibers were decreased with the increased of NaOH concentration and treating time. (2) The elongation of wool fibers showed maximum value at the treatment of 0.3% NaOH Sol. (3) The strength and elongation of wool yarn showed maximum value at the treat ment of 0.2% and 0.4 NaOH Sol.

In order to investigate the performance of high production card, some experiments were carried out on the fiber transfer rate, neps in the web and irregularity of card sliver with the various factor such as; density of metallic card clothing on the doffer, speed of cylinder, setting of flat and doffer, speed of doffer, weight of sliver, and micronaire value of cotton. As the results, the following conclusions were obtained; The density of metallic card clothing on the doffer and its speed were the most prominent factors on the fiber transfer rate. Large fiber transfer rate produced the cloudy web and it was thought that large fiber transfer rate brought less back doubling effect on the cylinder. When the speeds of cylinder were not increased. Within the range of present experiment, fiber transfer rate was not changed in accordance with the change of micronaire value.
