Background: We sought to evaluate the role of tumor associated macrophages (TAMs) on the promotion of coal tar pitch extract (CTPE)-induced tumorigenesis of human bronchial epithelial cells (BEAS-2B) and tumor metastasis in nude mice, and related mechanisms. Materials and Methods: BEAS-2B cells were first treated with 2.4 mg/mL CTPE for 72 hours. After removal of CTPE, the cells were continuously cultured and passaged using trypsin-EDTA. THP-1 cells were used as macrophage-like cells. BEAS-2B cells under different conditions (n=6/group) were injected into the back necks of nude mice, and alterations of tumor xenograft growth, indicative of tumorigenicity, and tumor metastasis were determined. Pathological changes (tumor nests and microvascular lesions) of HE-stained tumor tissues were also evaluated. The expression of AP-1(c-Jun) in xenografts and metastatic tumors was determined using immunohistochemistry. Results: Tumor size and weight in nude mice transplanted with the mixture of CTPE-induced passage 30 BEAS-2B and THP-1 cells (2:1) were increased compared to those from the CTPE-treated BEAS-2B cells at passage 30 alone at different observation time points. Tumor metastasis to lymph nodes and liver was only detected after transplantation of a mixture the two kinds of cells. The numbers of tumor nests and microvascular lesions, and the expression levels of AP-1 (c-Jun) in tumors from the mixture of two kinds of cells were increased apparently in contrast to those in tumor from the CTPE-treated BEAS-2B cells of passage 30 alone. In addition, there was positive correlation between AP-1 (c-Jun) expression level and the number of microvascular lesions, or between AP-1 (c-Jun) expression level and tumor metastasis in these two groups. Conclusions: TAMs not only facilitate tumorigenesis transformation of CTPE-induced BEAS-2B cells, but also promote tumor growth, angiogenesis and metastasis in nude mice in vivo, which may be mediated by AP-1.
Security Analysis of Speech Perceptual Hashing Authentication Algorithm
Zhang Qiu-yu,Ren Zhan-wei,Xing Peng-fei,Huang Yi-bo,Yu Shuang 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.10 No.1
Speech perceptual hashing authentication algorithm is an efficient method for content integrity authentication and identity authentication. But the algorithm becomes transparent under the principle of Kerckhoffs which makes the algorithm unsafe. In this paper, the algorithm is encrypted under the principle of Kerckhoffs to protect the security of the algorithm. Then the specific link that won’t affect the performance of the algorithm is identified through the experiments. Next, this paper analyzes the security of the encrypted algorithm based on the concept of Shannon unicity distance. The unicity distance is figured out finally based on the experiments. That is to say, the algorithm loses its security even though the algorithm has been encrypted. Under this circumstances, the most important thing is to continue keeping the safety of the algorithm. Therefore, this paper proposed an efficient random secret key method to guarantee the safety of the algorithm after the unicity distance is figured out.
Credibilitic Multiperiod Mean Semivariance Portfolio Selection with Transaction Costs
Peng Zhang,Bi-Yu Peng 대한산업공학회 2018 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.17 No.3
This paper proposes a credibilitic multiperiod mean-simivariance portfolio selection model with transaction costs, borrowing constraints, threshold constraints and cardinality constraints. In this model, the return rate of asset and the risk are quantified by credibilitic expected value and credibilitic semivariance, respectively. Threshold constraints limit the amount of capital to be invested in each stock and prevent very small investments in any stock. Based on credibilitic theories, the model is transformed into a mix integer dynamic optimization problem with path dependence. The proposed model is approximated to dynamic programming model. A novel discrete iteration method is designed to obtain the optimal portfolio strategy, and is proved linearly convergent. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the behavior of the proposed model and the designed algorithm using real data from the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
GaAsBi Quantum Dots for 1.55 μm Laser Diode
Mingxuan Zhang,Liyao Zhang,Zhongyue Zhang,Peng Yu,Shuang Yao 대한금속·재료학회 2021 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.17 No.2
Bi incorporations can reduce the bandgap of GaAs1-xBix. With a Bi content of 10.5%, GaAsBi is predicted to emit light at1.55 μm. However, high Bi incorporation is difficult for material growth and deteriorates the optical property of GaAsBi. In this work, a GaAsBi quantum dot (QD)/InAlAs structure on InP platform is proposed to fabricate 1.55 μm laser diodes. Strain distributions and band structures are calculated with different Bi contents and QD sizes using finite element method. High Bi contents and large QD sizes are beneficial for achieving long wavelengths. GaAsBi QD/InAlAs structures with alow Bi content of 5.6% and proper QD sizes, such as a diameter of 30 nm and a height of 6 nm, can emit light at 1.55 μm. The proposed structure can be realized by migration enhanced epitaxy and droplet epitaxy and provides a feasible way forfabricating GaAsBi based 1.55 μm laser diodes applied in fiber-optic communications.
Asymmetrical SPWM‑based control scheme for BESS‑integrated UPQC with hybrid connected configuration
Zhenqiang Zhang,Jianjun Zhao,Shen Liu,Hongbo Wang,Nan Wang,Peng Zhang,Yue Yu,Peng Xu 전력전자학회 2022 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.22 No.10
The unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) integrated with the battery energy storage system not only mitigates the power quality problems on the grid side and load side but also supplies active power to the load or the grid. The wide voltage variation of the battery and the high efficiency of the whole system can be achieved with the hybrid connected configuration, i.e., the battery is connected simultaneously to the series and shunt converters of the UPQC directly and indirectly through the dc–dc converter. However, the control and modulation strategies are the major challenges for this configuration. This study proposes a control scheme based on asymmetrical sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) to realize high-efficiency active power delivery, thereby addressing the issue above. The mechanism of the modulation scheme to regulate active power is revealed, and the voltage variation of the battery is considered. The modified SPWM strategy features easy implementation and a low computation burden. The effectiveness of the system with the proposed control and modulation schemes is verified by both simulation and experimental results.

When overexposed to ultraviolet B (UVB) irradiation, skin can cause a series of abnormal reactions, suchas excessive pigmentation and solar elastosis. In order to better treat the skin after overexposed to UVB,we designed a dissolving microneedles (MNs) loading hydrophilic ascorbic acid and hydrophobic vitaminA palmitate to achieve codelivery. Here, we confirmed that MNs had enough mechanical strength toinsert the skin and two drugs were delivered subcutaneously in sequence in vitro. In white guinea pigs, surface observation and histological observation results confirmed that two drugs by MNs transdermaldelivery were better than topical administration in the treatment of UVB-damaged skin. The MNs providea method of loading different drugs into the needles and advance the development of transdermal drugdelivery.

The present systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to assess any association between breastfeeding and the risk of ovarian cancer. A systematic search of published studies was performed in PUBMED and EMBASE and by reviewing reference lists from retrieved articles through March 2013. Data extraction was conducted independently by two authors. Pooled relative risk ratios were calculated using random-effect models. Totals of 5 cohort studies and 35 case-control studies including 17,139 women with ovarian cancer showed a 30% reduced risk of ovarian cancer when comparing the women who had breastfed with those who had never breastfed (pooled RR = 0.70, 95% CI: 0.64-0.76; p = 0.00), with significant heterogeneity in the studies (p = 0.00; I2 = 76.29%). A significant decreasd in risk of epithelial ovarian cancer was also observed (pooled RR = 0.68, 95% CI: 0.61-0.76). When the participants were restricted to only parous women, there was a slightly attenuated but still significant risk reduction of ovarian cancer (pooled RR = 0.76, 95% CI: 0.69-0.83). For total breastfeeding duration, the pooled RRs in the < 6 months, 6-12 months and > 12 months of breastfeeding subgroups were 0.85 (95% CI: 0.77-0.93), 0.73 (95% CI: 0.65-0.82) and 0.64 (95%CI: 0.56-0.73), respectively. Meta-regression of total breastfeeding duration indicated an increasing linear trend of risk reduction of ovarian cancer with the increasing total breastfeeding duration (p = 0.00). Breastfeeding was inversely associated with the risk of ovarian cancer, especially long-term breastfeeding duration that demonstrated a stronger protective effect.

Background The pathological mechanism of intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is an unanswered question that we are committed to exploring. A20 is an anti-inflammatory protein of nucleus pulposus (NP) cells and plays a protective role in intervertebral disc degeneration. Objective This study aims to investigate the molecular mechanism by which A20 attenuates disc degeneration. Methods The proteins of interest were measured by immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, ELISA assay, and immunohistochemical technique to conduct related experiments. Immunofluorescence assays and mitochondrial membrane potential (JC-1) were used to assess mitophagy and mitochondrial fitness, respectively. Results Here, we demonstrated that A20 promoted mitophagy, attenuated pyroptosis, and inhibited the degradation of the extracellular matrix, consequently significantly ameliorating disc degeneration. Mechanistically, A20 reduces pyroptosis and further suppresses cellular mTOR activity. On the one hand, A20-induced mTOR inhibition triggers BNIP3-mediated mitophagy to ensure mitochondrial fitness under LPS stimulation, as a result of mitigating mitochondrial dysfunction induced by LPS. On the other hand, A20-induced mTOR inhibition reduces the loss of mitochondrial membrane potential and the generation of Mitochondrial ROS. Conclusion The study revealed that A20 promotes BNIP3-mediated mitophagy by suppressing mTOR pathway activation against LPS-induced pyroptosis.
