This study quantitatively analyzed how the color appearances of fabrics and papers of different surface characteristics and a wide range of colors change under CIE illuminants, namely A, F11, F2, and D65 with correlated color temperatures of 2856 K, 4000 K, 4230 K, and 6504 K, respectively. Results found that textured fabrics had larger ranges of color appearance changes due to illuminants than non-textured papers, indicating that lighting might be more important for textile products in the purchasing environment.

The study investigated the differences between perceived and instrumentally measured colors of woven fabrics inwhich different colored yarns are woven together such that they are perceived as solid colors. Cyan, magenta, and yellowyarns were woven together to produce 63 fabrics in a wide range of colors, the values of which were measuredspectrophotometrically. The measured colors were generated as solid color images on a calibrated cathode ray tube (CRT)monitor. Then the fabrics were scanned and their scanned images were displayed beside their corresponding solid colorimages on the CRT monitor to evaluate the visual color difference between them. The results showed that the individual yarncolors and their interlacement on the fabric surface influenced the overall color appearance. Although the woven and solidcolors in each pair had identical CIELAB color values, the perceived color difference was as large as 5.68 ΔE*ab,10 onaverage. Fabrics composed of various colors of yarn were found to have larger visual color differences from their measuredcolors than those composed of single colors of yarn. The visual color difference varied according to texture, but texturestrength, which has been widely reported as a strong parametric factor in visual color difference evaluation, was not shown tohave had a consistent effect. This study also examined how the overall color attributes, including the lightness, chroma, andhue, of fabrics affected the visual color difference and developed a predictive model of those effects.
Colorimetric Properties and Color Sensibility of Naturally Colored Organic Cotton Fabrics
Chae, Youngjoo,Cho, Gilsoo 한국섬유공학회 2012 FIBERS AND POLYMERS Vol.13 No.9
This study was done to propose color conditions and fabrics that satisfy the particular sensibilities of consumers and producers through an analysis of color sensibility factors for an environmentally-friendly material, i.e., naturally colored organic cotton (NaCOC) fabrics. Toward that end, the colorimetric properties of eight NaCOC fabrics were measured, and the fabrics' subjective color sensibilities were evaluated. In addition, based on the relationship between the colorimetric properties and subjective color sensibilities, the prediction models for color sensibilities of NaCOC fabrics were developed. According to the established models, hard-soft, cool-warm, deep-pale, vague-distinct, plain-showy, and subdued-vivid sensibilities can be predicted by some variables of colorimetric properties such as $L^*$, $a^*$, $C^*$, and h. As another ultimate goal of this study, suitable NaCOC fabrics to evoke certain sensibilities were proposed by multidimensional scaling method. The proposed fabrics and color sensibility factors are believed to offer an important guideline for those who design clothing products made of NaCOC.

This research investigated the effect of individual yarn colors on the perception of overall colors of yarn-dyed woven fabrics. The way the colors of yarn-dyed woven fabrics are perceived is known as visual color mixing: when the different colored yarns juxtaposed on the fabric surface are observed from some distance away, they are visually mixed in our eyes and perceived as a solid color. However, we can still see individual yarn colors that make the fabrics look obviously different from actual solid colors. To quantify this visual color mixing effect, twenty-one sateen fabrics were produced in a wide range of colors using cyan, magenta, and yellow yarns, and the colors were measured instrumentally. The obtained colorimetric values were converted into solid color images on a CRT monitor. Then, the physical fabrics were scanned, and the scanned images were displayed on the monitor with solid color images in pairs for visual color difference evaluation. The woven and solid colors in each pair were of physically identical color; however, the visual color difference was as large as 4.81 ΔE*ab on average. A visual color difference model was proposed by considering this parametric effect of individual yarn colors.

Objective: The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the pre- and postsurgical bone densities at alveolar and extra-alveolar sites following twojaw orthognathic surgery. Methods: The sample consisted of 10 patients (mean age, 23.2 years; range, 18.0–27.8 years; 8 males, 2 females) who underwent two-jaw orthognathic surgery. A three-dimensional imaging program (Invivo 5) was used with multidetector computed tomography images taken preand postoperatively (obtained 32.3 ± 6.0 days before surgery and 5.8 ± 2.6 days after surgery, respectively) for the measurement of bone densities at the following sites: (1) alveolar bone in the maxilla and mandible, (2) extra-alveolar sites, such as the top of the head, menton (Me), condyle, and the fourth cervical vertebrae (C4). Results: When pre- and postsurgical bone densities were compared, an overall tendency of decrease in bone density was noted. Statistically significant reductions were observed in the densities of cancellous bone at several areas of the maxillary alveolar bone; cortical and cancellous bone in most areas of the mandibular alveolar bone; cortical bone in Me; and cancellous bone in C4. There was no statistically significant difference in bone density in relation to the depth of the alveolar bone. In a comparison of the bone densities between groups with and without genioplasty, there was almost no statistically significant difference. Conclusions: Accelerated tooth movement following orthognathic surgery may be confirmed with reduced bone density. In addition, this study could offer insights into bone metabolism changes following orthognathic surgery, providing direction for further investigations in this field.
Exploring the Natural Pigment Absorption Property of Reduced Graphene Oxide (rGO) on Textiles
( Sungwoo Moon ),( Youngjoo Chae ) 한국감성과학회 2021 추계학술대회 Vol.2021 No.0
This study quantitatively analyzed the color shifts of fabric dyed with different concentrations of reduced graphene oxide (rGO), mixed with natural dyes in different hues. Results showed that mixing different concentrations of rGO in natural dyeing can produce various colors of fabrics in terms of all the lightness, chroma, and hue. It was also found that the lightness of fabrics increased while the chroma decreased with the increment of the concentration of rGO, confirming rGO’s natural pigment absorption property.
