Tool wear monitoring based on an improved convolutional neural network

        Jia-Wei Zhao,Shi-Jie Guo,Lin Ma,Hao-Qiang Kong,Nan Zhang 대한기계학회 2023 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.37 No.4

Tool condition is the key factor affecting the quality and efficiency of precision cutting of parts. As tool wear is inevitable during machining, tool wear status during machining must be regularly monitored. This study proposes a combined convolutional neural network and support vector machine (SVM) approach for tool wear status monitoring. First, 1D cutting force data are wavelet-transformed and converted into 2D spectrogram. Second, the leakyReLU activation function is adopted to enhance network robustness. Third, an SVM classifier is used to replace the traditional Softmax function to improve the model generalization capability. Finally, the cutting force signal of the tool used for the machining of the aero-engine integral blisk is verified. The accuracy of the constructed network model can reach 98.28 %. Moreover, the proposed model has a simple structure, requires a small number of parameters, and has good robustness and reliability.

Association of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in Exon 6 Region of BMPRIB Gene with Litter Size Traits in Sheep

        Jia, Cunling,Li, Ning,Zhao, Xingbo,Zhu, Xiaoping,Jia, Zhihai Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2005 Animal Bioscience Vol.18 No.10

The objective of this study was to investigate polymorphisms of BMPRIB (bone morphogenetic protein type IB receptor) gene and its effect on litter size traits in sheep. Three populations including 101 Small Tailed Han sheep, 79 Poll Dorset and 81 hybrids (Poll Dorset${\times}$Small Tailed Han sheep) were used to detect the polymorphisms in exon 6 region of sheep BMPRIB gene. A fragment of approximately 190bp was amplified by one pair of primers, the polymorphism was revealed from the analysis of three populations by the technique of PCR -SSCP, and a mutation from A to G at 746 of the coding region was confirmed by sequencing in several individual. Statistical results indicated the distribution of allele B (with a A$\longrightarrow$G mutation) and A (without mutation) or genotype AA, AB and BB frequencies differed in three populations. BB genotype (44.55%) and B allele (66.34%) frequencies of Small Tailed Han sheep were higher than those of the others. Analysis of variance showed that the polymorphism of BMPRIB gene was associated with positive effect on litter size traits. The means of genotype BB and AB were about 1.04 and 0.74 more than genotype AA for litter size (p<0.05). Analysis of BMPRIB genotype effects on litter size in three populations indicates the existence of genotype BB or B allele increases the litter size. It suggested that the polymorphism in exon 6 (at 746 in the coding region) of sheep BMPRIB gene may be used as a marker for early selection of prolificacy in sheep.

      • Improve Efficiency and Reliability in Single-Hop WSNs with Transmit-Only Nodes

        Jia Zhao,Chunming Qiao,Sudhaakar, R. S.,Seokhoon Yoon IEEE 2013 IEEE transactions on parallel and distributed syst Vol.24 No.3

<P>Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) will play a significant role at the “edge” of the future “Internet of Things.” In particular, WSNs with transmit-only nodes are attracting more attention due to their advantages in supporting applications requiring dense and long-lasting deployment at a very low cost and energy consumption. However, the lack of receivers in transmit-only nodes renders most existing MAC protocols invalid. Based on our previous study on WSNs with pure transmit-only nodes, this work proposes a simple, yet cost effective and powerful single-hop hybrid WSN cluster architecture that contains not only transmit-only nodes but also standard nodes (with transceivers). Along with the hybrid architecture, this work also proposes a new MAC layer protocol framework called Robust Asynchronous Resource Estimation (RARE) that efficiently and reliably manages the densely deployed single-hop hybrid cluster in a self-organized fashion. Through analysis and extensive simulations, the proposed framework is shown to meet or exceed the needs of most applications in terms of the data delivery probability, QoS differentiation, system capacity, energy consumption, and reliability. To the best of our knowledge, this work is the first that brings reliable scheduling to WSNs containing both nonsynchronized transmit-only nodes and standard nodes.</P>

Tri-training algorithm based on cross entropy and K-nearest neighbors for network intrusion detection

        Jia Zhao,Song Li,Runxiu Wu,Yiying Zhang,Bo Zhang,Longzhe Han 한국인터넷정보학회 2022 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.16 No.12

To address the problem of low detection accuracy due to training noise caused by mislabeling when Tri-training for network intrusion detection (NID), we propose a Tri-training algorithm based on cross entropy and K-nearest neighbors (TCK) for network intrusion detection. The proposed algorithm uses cross-entropy to replace the classification error rate to better identify the difference between the practical and predicted distributions of the model and reduce the prediction bias of mislabeled data to unlabeled data; K-nearest neighbors are used to remove the mislabeled data and reduce the number of mislabeled data. In order to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm proposed in this paper, experiments were conducted on 12 UCI datasets and NSL-KDD network intrusion datasets, and four indexes including accuracy, recall, F-measure and precision were used for comparison. The experimental results revealed that the TCK has superior performance than the conventional Tri-training algorithms and the Tri-training algorithms using only cross-entropy or K-nearest neighbor strategy.

Irregular Bone Defect Repair Using Tissue-Engineered Periosteum in a Rabbit Model

        Zhao Lin,Zhao Junli,Yu Jia-Jia,Zhang Cangyu 한국조직공학과 재생의학회 2020 조직공학과 재생의학 Vol.17 No.5

Background: In previous studies, we succeeded in repairing a long bone defect with tissue-engineered periosteum (TEP), fabricated by incorporating rabbit mesenchymal stem cells with small intestinal submucosa. In this study, we investigated the feasibility of allogeneic irregular bone defect repair using TEP. Methods: We performed a subtotal resection of the scapula in 36 rabbits to establish a large irregular bone defect model. The rabbits were then randomly divided into three groups (n = 12 per group) and the defects were treated with TEP (Group 1), allogeneic deproteinized bone (DPB) (Group 2) or a hybrid of TEP and DPB (Group 3). At 4, 8, and 12 weeks after surgery, the rabbits were sacrificed, and the implants were harvested. X-ray radiographic and histological examinations were performed to detect bone healing. Ink-formaldehyde perfusion was introduced to qualitatively analyze vascularization in TEP engineered new bone. Results: The repair of scapular defects was diverse in all groups, shown by radiographic and histological tests. The radiographic scores in Group 1 and Group 3 were significantly higher than Group 2 at 8 and 12 weeks (p < 0.05). Histological scores further proved that Group 1 had significantly greater new bone formation compared to Group 3 (p < 0.05), while Group 2 had the lowest osteogenesis at all time-points (p < 0.001). Ink-formaldehyde perfusion revealed aboundant microvessels in TEP engineered new bone. Conclusion: We conclude that TEP is promising for the repair of large irregular bone defects. As a 3D scaffold, DPB could provide mechanical support and a shaping guide when combined with TEP. TEP engineered new bone has aboundant microvessels.

Preparation and Characterization of Surface Modified PPTA Fibers by Ultrasonic-Assisted Hydrogen Peroxide Solutions

Zhao Jia,Chunmei Duan 한국섬유공학회 2019 Fibers and polymers Vol.20 No.11

The simplest peroxide, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was used to prepare the surface modified poly(p-phenyleneterephthalaramide) (PPTA) fibers under the assistant of ultrasonic vibration. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)spectra indicated the increase of the active polar groups on the surface of the fibers. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS)analysis confirmed that more carboxyl groups and hydroxyl groups have been obtained after this treatment. Scanning electronmicroscope (SEM) showed that the surface roughness of the fibers has been improved accordingly. The interfacial propertiesof modified PPTA fiber/epoxy composites were investigated by the single fiber pull-out test (SFP). The results showed thatthe interfacial shear strength (IFSS) of PPTA/epoxy composites was remarkably improved by 42.14 % while the breakingstrength was not affected appreciably. The modified fiber presented 26.9 % higher moisture regain compared with theoriginal fiber. It proved to be an efficient method to make the surface modified PPTA fiber for the application of the advancedcomposites at a relatively low cost.

Study of Novel Threadlike Structures on the Intestinal Fascia of Dogs

        Zhao-Feng Jia,소광섭,Qiang Zhou,Bo Dong,Wen-Hui Yu 사단법인약침학회 2011 Journal of Acupuncture & Meridian Studies Vol.4 No.2

The primo-vascular system was visualized in the mesentery surrounding the small intestine of a dog using Trypan blue. This structure, which was first observed in a rat, formed a network as primo-vessel branches were joined to primo-nodes. Other characteristic features of the primo-vascular system, such as bundles of tubes with fibrous extracellular matrix in a primo-vessel and a broken-line alignment of rodshaped nuclei along the primo-vessel, were observed. Blood vessels, lymph vessels, and primo-vessels were present in the same mesentery, and they could clearly be distinguished by histological differences.
