        전력품질 향상을 위한 배전용 STATCOM 운전결과 분석

        본 논문에서는 국내 최초로 설치된 Custom Power기기인 배전용 STATCOM(STATic COMpensator)의 기기 신뢰성 확보를 위힌 기가 테스트 및 설계통 운전 분석결과를 보이고 있다. Custom Power는 유연송전시스템(FACTS : Flexible AC Transmission System)과 같이 교류전력계통을 제어함으로써 효율적이고 유연한 전력계통의 운용과 구성을 목적으로 한다. STATCOM은 Custom Power기기의 한 형태로 무효전력 보상, 전압조정, 그리고 전압 퓰리커 억제 등의 기능을 가진다. 본 논문에서는 STATCOM 시운전 결과 무효전력과 역률 보상에서 우수한 성능을 보임을 확인할 수 있다. This paper presents the test and operation results of the domestic demonstration of the reactive power compensation device called STATCOM (STATic COMpensator). The object of the paper is to describe the reliability of the unit based on the extensive operation databases. The custom power is similar in nature to the concept of FACTS(Flexibel AC Transmission System). By controlling reactive power, the technology offers utilities the opportunity for increased efficiency and their capabilities will permit transmission planners make the best use of their existing transmission resources. STATCOM is a custom power device in a way and can be used in a similar way for the dynamic compensation of power transmission systems, providing reactive power compensation, voltage regulation and mitigation of voltage flicker. It is shown that the STATCOM has clear advantages in areas such as; providing reactive power compensation and improving power factor.

        Flicker Mitigation in a Wind Farm by Controlling a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator

        The power quality of wind energy becomes more and more important in connecting wind-farms to the grid, especially weak grid. This paper presents the simulation of a wind farm of a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) and a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). Flicker mitigation is performed by using PMSG as a static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) to regulate the voltage at the point of common coupling (PCC). A benefit of the measure is that integrating two function of to control the active power flow and to reduce the voltage flicker in a wind farm. Simulation results show that controlling PMSG is an effective and economic measure in reducing the flicker during continuous operation of grid connected wind turbines regardless of short circuit capacity ratio, turbulence intensity and grid impedance angle.

        This paper proposes a strategy of flicker mitigation for doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) wind turbine systems. In the weak grid system where the grid impedance ratio is low, the reactive power compensation only cannot suppress the flicker sufficiently due to the limited power capacity of the converters or the DFIG. For the full suppression of flickers, the active power smoothening using the energy storage system (ESS) needs to be utilized together with the reactive power compensation. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by PSCAD/EMTDC simulation results for a 2[MW] DFIG wind turbine system and by experimental results for a 3[kW] wind turbine simulator.

        Visible Light Communication is one of the promising technologies for wireless communication due to the possibility to useexisting LED lightening infrastructure to transmit data. LED has the ability to turn on and off very fast enough that ourhuman eyes can’t recognize so it can be used to transmit data via visible light along with illumination. But it faces flickerproblem due to the brightness discrepancies between ‘1’ and ‘0’ bit patterns inside a data frame. Various run length limited(RLL) coding scheme like Manchester code, 4B6B, 8B10B or VPPM can be used to solve flickering problem. So we proposepseudo Manchester codding which can transmit data without modifying LED modulator and demodulator circuit as well assolve flickering problem.

        가시광통신은 기존에 설치된 LED등을 사용하기에 무선통신을 위한 방법 중의 하나이다. 본 논문은 이미지 처리 기술을 이용한 광카메라 통신(OCC: Optical Camera Communications) 기술을 제안한다.         Pulse Dual Slope Modulation for VLC

        In the field of visible light communication (VLC), light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are used for transmitting data via visible light. In this study, we analyze pulse dual slope modulation (PDSM) as a means of delivering information in VLC. PDSM involves the modulation of symmetrical slope pulses to encode binary 0s and 1s, and owing to the moderately increasing and decreasing pulse shapes that are created, this method enables more spectral efficiency than the variable pulse position modulation (VPPM) technique currently adopted in IEEE 802.15.7. In particular, PDSM allows for the avoidance of intra-frame flicker by providing idle pulses in a spectrum-efficient way. A simple detection scheme is proposed for PDSMsignals, and its bit error rate (BER) is analyzed mathematically at varying slopes to validate the process through simulation. The BER performance of PDSM detection using dual sampling is compared to the performances of PDSM and VPPM using correlation detection. It is found that, when the probability of idle pulse transmission is less than 0.08 and higher than 0, the BER of dual sampling PDSM is lower than that of PDSM using correlation detection over the entire light intensity range.
