      • Dust Collection Method Using Lubricant Impregnated Surface

        Recently, air pollution by small particulate matter become one of the most severe issue. Though various types of filters have been developed to improve dust collection efficiency, still, only the conventional solid filters with micro-pores are being used to collect dusts. Here we introduce a novel strategy to collect dusts by realizing thin non-volatile liquid coating (few hundreds nanometer) on porous media. The thin liquid layer has advantage of strong adhesion with solid dusts resulting in high dust collection efficiency by direct dust adhesion, which suggests a new way to reduce dusts significantly from air.

        디스토피아(dystopia)적 상상력과 현실 문제 인식 - 소설집 『미세먼지』를 중심으로

        본고는 디스토피아와 현실의 세계가 기후변화, 그 중 미세먼지와 관련하여 어떻게 표상되어 나타나는지 연구한 논문이다. 이를 위해 5편의 소설로 구성된, 앤솔로지 소설집 『미세먼지』를 연구 텍스트로 삼았다. 이 소설의 전반적인 특징은 첫째 미래 세상에 대한 암울하고 공포스러움을 디스토피아의 상상력으로 표상한다. ‘미세먼지 변이인간’, ‘먼지의 신’, ‘청정복 없는 N계층’, ‘건물로 이어진 세계’ 등으로 미세먼지로 인한 죽음과 공포, 잃어버린 일상을 상징화 한다. 이는 디스토피아의 세계를 생태적 상상력을 통해 형상화하고 있으며, 미세먼지로 인한 대기오염의 심각성을 직간접적으로 드러낸다. 둘째 미래 세상을 그려내지만, 디스토피아 속에서 끊임없이 현재의 문제를 서사 안에 녹여내고 있다. 가령 취업이나 국가 간 갈등, 맞벌이, 사랑에 대한 고민 등과 같은 문제는 여전히 진행형이기 때문이다. 미세먼지가 인간 소외, 고독, 외로움 등을 가속화시키고 인간들의 관계성마저도 단절시키는 요인으로 작용한다. 이는 미세먼지 문제가 미래의 문제뿐만 아니라, 현재의 문제라는 점을 끊임없이 독자들에게 감각적으로 느끼도록 한다. 셋째 디스토피아의 세계에는 비극적이고 암울한 것만이 드러나는 것이 아니라, 인간이 기본적으로 추구하는 생명, 사랑, 자유 등이 형상화되어 있다. 따라서 완전한 유토피아도, 디스토피아의 세계도 이 소설에는 없다. 즉 절대적인 유토피아도, 디스토피아의 세계도 극단적으로 표상화하지 않는다. 이는 인간의 의지에 따라 달려있다는 점을 보여준다. 이처럼 미세먼지라는 한 가지 상징화된 소재를 통해, 직간접적인 경고와 희망을 보이면서 디스토피아와 현실의 경계를 넘나들고 있다. 또한 인간의 의지에 따라, 어떤 선택을 하는가에 따라 미세먼지라는 기후위기의 현재와 미래가 달라질 수 있음을 문학적 상상력을 통해 보여준다. 이처럼 소설 문학은 생태환경 문제를 독자로 하여금 자신의 삶과 연결 지어 인식하고 느끼게 하여 자연스럽게 실천으로 나갈 수 있도록 할 것이다. 본 연구는 최근에 창작된 SF 생태환경소설을 본격적인 연구의 대상으로 삼았다는 점에 의의가 있다. 또한 생태문학 연구의 범위를 확장해 나가고 있다는 점에서도 의미가 있다. This paper studies how fine dust represents dystopia and the real world in novel works in relation to climate change. For this purpose, the anthology novel collection 『Fine Dust』, composed of five novels was used as the research text. The overall characteristics of this novel are as follows. First, it represents the gloomy and horror of the future world with the imagination of dystopia. The “fine dust mutant,” “God of Dust,” “N-tier without air purifying suits,” and “the world leading to buildings” symbolize death, fear, and lost daily life caused by fine dust. It embodies the world of dystopia through ecological imagination, and directly or indirectly reveals the seriousness of air pollution. Second, it depicts the future world, but in a dystopia, the problems of the present are constantly melted into the narrative. This is because, for example, problems such as employment, conflicts between countries, dual income, and worries about love are still ongoing. Fine dust accelerates human alienation and loneliness, and acts as a factor that cuts off human relationships. This makes readers feel sensibly that the fine dust problem is not only a problem in the future but also a problem in the present. Third, in the dystopian world, not only tragic and gloomy things are revealed, but also life, love, and freedom that humans fundamentally pursue are embodied. Therefore, there is neither a perfect utopia nor a dystopian world in this novel. In other words, neither the absolute utopia nor the dystopian world is extremely represented. This shows that it depends on the human will. Through this one symbolized material, fine dust, it crosses the border between dystopia and reality, showing direct and indirect warnings and hopes. In addition, it shows through literary imagination that the present and future of the climate crisis called fine dust can be different depending on the human will and what choices they make. In this way, novel literature will allow the reader to recognize and feel environmental problems in connection with their own lives, so that they can naturally go into practice. This study is meaningful in that it took the recently created ecological science fiction novel as the subject of full-scale research. It is also meaningful in that the scope of ecological literature research is being expanded.

        루버 집진기의 성능특성

        A large amount of wear dust generated during train operation is a major dust source in urban railway tunnels. To check possibility of a louver dust collector for the removal of dust in the railway tunnel, five louver dust collector models were designed and their performance was tested in a wind tunnel. JIS Z 8901 Class 8 dust was used as a test dust. Pressure drop and particle collection efficiency were evaluated with the face velocity ranging from 1 m/s to 4 m/s. At this low velocity range, particle collection efficiency of the louver dust collector was found to be insensitive to air velocity and design parameters. Pressure drop was under 40 Pa, and $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ collection efficiencies were approximately 50% and 30%, respectively.

        자동차 브레이크 미세먼지 포집을 위한 미니 사이클론의 난류모델에 따른 포집효율 변화

        Fine dust generated from vehicle brakes accounts for a significant amount of fine dust from non-exhaust system. Since such brake fine dust contains a large number of heavy metal components that are fatal to the human body, a device capable of collecting them needs to be developed. A mini cyclone, one of the devices that can effectively collect fine dust, has the advantage of relatively simple shape and high collection efficiency. Therefore, in this study, the collection efficiency of the mini-cyclone was numerically analyzed using CFD in order to find out whether such a mini-cyclone is suitable for collecting brake fine dust. As a result, the cut-off diameter was predicted to be about 1.5㎛, which means that the particle trapping load of the filter can be drastically reduced. Therefore, there is a possibility that the mini-cyclone can be used to collect fine dust from disc brakes.

        천연 다당류 먼지포집제를 이용한 지하철 터널 내 PM 10 제어에 대한 연구

        Objectives: Most of the PM 10 in subway stations is spread by the train-induced wind from the tunnels. Therefore, in order to improve air quality in subway stations, it is important to remove the PM 10 from the tunnels. After the installation of PSD (platform screen doors), the influence of train-induced wind and PM 10 at the platform has decreased, but is estimated to have increased in subway tunnels. This study was conducted to investigate the control of PM 10 in subway tunnels by applying a 500-fold diluted solution mixed with a humectant using a natural polymer. Methods: For this purpose, we tested the dust reduction effect in a laboratory and corrosion test and water pollution using fish and aquatic plants for the natural dust collecting agent. In the tunnel of a subway station, we used the natural dust collecting agent over 15 days. The study was carried out on PM 10 control during operation, which accounts for more than 70% of subway dust. Results: As results, the natural dust collecting agent exhibited an excellent dust control effect, and it was safe for water quality and soil. It showed the effect of controlling PM 10 in the subway tunnel by 49.5- 64.7% over 15 days. The use of the dust collecting agent for the control of PM 10 Conclusion: It is necessary to clearly explain the major portions of chemical components contained in PM 10 to figure out the characteristics of PM 10 and to develop effective reduction measures to decrease the adverse effects of PM 10 in the subway.

        자동차 비배기 미세먼지 집진기 개념설계 및 수치해석을 통한 집진기 위치 선정 연구

        Brake and tire wear emissions from vehicles are generated by friction between tire-asphalt and brake pad-disk. Although the proportion of brake and tire wear emissions among the fine dust generated in the entire automobile emission is currently low, it is expected that most of the fine dust will eventually be caused by non-exhaust sources. Despite this expectation, methods of reducing brake and tire wear emissions have not been actively studied. In the present article, a fine dust collecting system for brake and tire wear emissions is developed and tested. Feasibility tests were conducted to evaluate the overall performance of fine dust collector. Using the developed fine dust collector, an average of 67.5% of fine dust can be collected. The location of installation was decided by investigating the complex flow around a rotating wheel using the unsteady numerical analysis technique. As a result of the analysis of the flow around the wheel, the velocity of the wheel rotating counterclockwise and the flow trying to rotate in the clockwise direction compete with each other, resulting in a stagnation point where the flow speed is slowed down at a certain portion. If an electric dust collector is installed near the stagnation point, it is expected that the collection efficiency of the dust collector becomes high.

        This study was conducted batch-type process to remove chlorine for using sub-raw material of cement, dust generated from steel manufacture-collection process. According to increasing reaction time of the dust and extraction solvent, chlorine-extraction of dust was increased slowly, but concentration of Hg, Cd, Mn, Fe were increased too. At the reaction time 2hr, in case of the ratio of 1:1 in dust and extraction solvent, chlorine-extraction concentration was maximum. At the same condition, filtration and drying repeated 7 times. And polymer 30㎎/ℓ was added that chlorine concentration of dust was 850㎎/ℓ.

According to increasing ratio of the dust and extraction solvent, heavy metal-extraction of dust was increased slowly, and extracted heavy metals(Cr, Cd etc.) were under the water quality standard of effluent, except for Pb metal.

        초미세먼지 제거를 위한 전기집진 필터에 관한 연구

        In recent years, indoor air pollution has become a crucial environmental problem. Hence, the purification of indoor air is an important issue. Typical physical filters show relatively high dust collection efficiency at a dust particle size of more than 5.0 ㎛ but extremely low efficiency at an ultrafine size of less than 2.5 ㎛. In this study, an electric field filter was proposed to capture ultrafine dust with a size of less than 5.0 ㎛. Simulation results showed that the electric field filter effectively removed ultrafine dust. In addition, sufficient dust collection efficiency was obtained even with a simple plate-shaped filter without bending the Chevron filter.
