        Nursing Students’ Disaster Awareness, Disaster Preparedness, and Disaster Nursing Competency

        Purpose: This study aims to provide basic data to improve disaster nursing competency by identifying nursing students’ disaster awareness, disaster preparedness, and disaster nursing competency and confirming the relationship among them. Research design, data, and methodology: The subjects of this study were 310 students attending the Department of Nursing at E University in Gyeonggi-do, and the data was collected from April 13 to May 24, 2023. Results: Disaster awareness averaged 72.91±7.46 points, disaster preparedness averaged 2.82±2.81 points, and disaster nursing competency averaged 44.11±10.76 points. Disaster preparedness and disaster nursing competency were significantly higher in subjects with disaster nursing education experience than in those without experience. Disaster awareness showed a significant positive correlation with disaster preparedness (r=.20, p <.001), and also with disaster nursing competency (r=.37, p <.001). Disaster preparedness showed a significant positive correlation with disaster nursing competency (r=.49, p <.001). It was found that the disaster nursing competency was high when the disaster awareness (B=0.472, p<.001), and the disaster preparedness (B=1.561, p<.001) was high. Conclusions: The results show it is possible to improve students' disaster nursing competency by strengthening education on disaster awareness and disaster preparedness. Thus, specific efforts and future research are needed to develop disaster nursing education.

        소방관의 재난대비인식, 재난대비역량 및 재난교육요구에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this study was to explore the levels of disaster preparedness perception, disaster preparedness competency and disaster educational needs in firefighting officers and identify influential factors on disaster preparedness competency. The data was collected by self- report questionnaires from convenience sample of 280 fire-fighting officers from January 5 to January 30, 2017. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, factorial analysis, controlled multiple regression. The mean disaster preparedness competency score was 3.43, the mean disaster perception score was 3.63 and the mean disaster educational needs score was 4.11. Disaster preparedness competency had a statistically significant difference by grade, periods of working, experience of disaster education in workplace and experience of disaster education in other organizations. As a result of regression analysis, disaster preparedness competency accounted for 43% of the variance by disaster perception and grade. In order to improve the preparedness of a fire-fighting officers, one must first consider ways to improve disaster preparedness. It is also necessary to develop simulation training programs that include the specialized expertise and technical content of the disaster, and the consideration of local characteristics and vulnerabilities. 본 연구는 소방관의 재난대비인식, 재난대비역량과 재난교육요구 수준을 파악하고 재난대비역량에 영향을 주는 요인을 규명하기 위해 수행되었다. 자료는 소방관 280명을 편의 표집하여 2017년 1월 5일부터 1월 30일까지 자가 보고식 설문지를 이용하여 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSSWIN 23.0 프로그램을 이용하여 기술통계, t-test, ANOVA, 요인분석 및 통제회귀분석을 실시하였다. 재난대비인식 점수는 5점 만점에 3.63점, 재난대비역량은 3.43점, 재난교육요구는 4.11점으로 나타났으며, 계급이 높을수록, 근무기간이 많을수록, 근무지 및 외부재난교육훈련 경험이 있는 경우가 재난대비역량 점수가 높게 나타났다. 재난대비역량에 영향을 미치는 관련 요인은 재난대비인식과 계급인 것으로 나타났으며, 이들 변수의 설명력은 43%였다. 소방관의 재난대비역량을 향상시키기 위해서는 재난대비인식을 향상시키는 방안을 우선 고려해야 한다. 또한 재난 특유의 전문지식과 기술내용을 포함하고 지역사회 특성과 취약성을 고려한 시뮬레이션 교육프로그램 개발이 필요하다.

        재난의료지원팀 내 1급 응급구조사의 재난대비·대응역량에 관한 연구

        Purpose: This study aimed to investigate disaster preparedness competence and disaster response competence of paramedics working in emergency medical centers operating a disaster medical assistance teams. Methods: Data of 174 emergency medical technician(EMT)-paramedics were collected from July 15 to August 14, 2018 at regional and local emergency medical centers that operate disaster medical assistant team. Analysis of the data was carried out with IBM SPSS statistics 24.0 software (IBM, Armonk, NY, USA). Results: The mean disaster preparedness competence score was $3.57{\pm}0.63$ (out of five). Participants' disaster preparedness competence significantly differed according to type of emergency medical center (p<.000), disaster education experience (p<.000), and education frequency (p=.001). The mean disaster response competence score was $4.09{\pm}0.57$ (out of five). Participants' disaster response competence significantly differed according to disaster education experience (p<.000) and medical assistance experience (p=.045). Conclusion: Emergency medical technician-paramedics without disaster training should first be provided with this training. Further, it is important for EMT-paramedics to know their disaster preparedness and response capacities and strengthen their shortcomings. It is also important to develop education and training programs that properly equip EMT-paramedics with practical competencies.

        간호대학생의 재난인식과 보호동기 및 재난간호대응⋅대비역량

        목적 본 연구에서는 간호대학생의 재난인식, 보호동기 및 재난간호대응⋅대비역량을 확인하고, 재난간호대응⋅대비역량에 미치는 영향요인을 확인하였다. 방법 이를 위하여 G도와 D광역시 소재 3개 대학 4학년에 재학 중인 간호대학생 123명을 편의표집하여 구조화된 자가보고식 설문조사를 실시하였다. 자료분석은 SPSS Windows 21.0 프로그램을 활용하여 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 결과 연구대상자의 재난간호대응⋅대비역량은 재난인지, 보호동기와 유의한 양의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났고, 재난 관련 교육, 재난인지, 보호동기가 대상자의 재난간호대응⋅대비역량을 54.5% 설명하였고, 재난인지가 가장 큰 영향력을 미치는 변수로 확인되었다. 결론 간호대학생의 재난간호대응역량 및 대비역량의 향상을 위해서는 학생들의 수준에 맞는 다양한 재난 관련 교육 프로그램 개발 뿐만 아니라 재난인지를 증진시키기 위한 다양한 중재 방안의 모색이 필요하다. Objectives This study aimed to identify the disaster awareness, protection motivation, and disaster nursing preparedness/response competency of nursing students as well as the influencing factors that affect disaster nursing preparedness/response competency. Methods A total of 123 senior nursing students from two universities participated in this study. The data was analyzed using Hierarchical regression with SPSS Windows 21.0 program. Results Significant correlations between disaster awareness, protection motivation, and disaster nursing preparedness/response competency were uncovered, and disaster-related education, protection motivation, and disaster awareness were identified as factors that affected the participants’ disaster nursing preparedness/response competency. Conclusions Therefore, further research on the development of disaster-related education programs to improve nursing students’ disaster awareness and disaster nursing preparedness/response competency is needed.

        사회복지관에 근무하는 사회복지사의 재난인식과 재난위험성 인식이 재난관리역량에 미치는 영향

        이 연구는 사회복지관에 근무하는 사회복지사의 재난인식과 재난위험성 인식이 재난관리역량에 미치는 영향을 살펴보는 연구이다. 특히, 재난준비도의 매개효과에 초점을 두어 사회복지사의 재난관리 역량에 영향을 미치는 요인을 검증하고자 수행되었다. 이를 통해 사회복지관 조직 수준에서는 재난안전문화를 구축하고, 사회복지사 개인 수준에서는 재난관리역량을 강화하는 방안을 모색하는 데 연구목적이 있다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 부산광역시에 위치한 사회복지관(종합사회복지관, 장애인복지관, 노인복지관)에 근무하는 사회복지사를 대상으로 설문조사를 시행하였다. 배포된 980부의 설문지 중 회수된 896부를 검토하여 성실하게 응답한 892부를 최종 분석하였다. 자료분석은 SPSS 26과 AMOS 26을 활용하였으며, 기술통계 분석, 상관관계 분석, 구조방정식모형(측정모형, 구조모형) 분석, 부트스트래핑 방법을 사용한 매개효과 분석을 시행하였다. 주요 분석결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 사회복지사의 재난인식과 재난위험성 인식이 재난관리역량에 미치는 직접적 영향은 통계적으로 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 사회복지사의 재난인식과 재난관리역량의 관계, 사회복지사의 재난위험성 인식과 재난관리역량의 관계에서 재난준비도의 매개효과는 통계적으로 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 특히 효과분해 결과, 사회복지사의 재난관리역량을 높이는 데는 재난준비도의 간접효과가 가장 크며 그다음으로 재난위험성 인식의 직접효과가 큰 것으로 나타나 향후 재난준비도에 관한 사회복지학계의 관심이 늘어나야 함을 보여 주었다. 이상의 결과를 토대로, 사회복지관 조직 수준에서는 재난안전에 관한 가치와 인식을 더 높여 안전 최우선의 조직문화를 구현하는 방안이 모색되어야 할 것이다. 그리고 사회복지사 개인 수준에서는 각종 재난 안전교육 훈련에 적극적으로 참여함으로써 재난 발생 시 지역사회의 빠른 회복을 도모하기 위한 재난안전 전문성과 책임성을 함양하는 것이 중요할 것이다. 마지막으로, 사회복지관 조직 수준 및 사회복지사 개인 수준에서의 재난준비도를 높이는 방안을 모색하는 것이 중요함을 제언하였다. This study set out to investigate the effects of disaster cognition and disaster risk cognition on the disaster management competence of social workers working in social welfare centers and examine their disaster management competence in details by focusing on the mediation effects of disaster preparedness. The purpose of this study is to establish a disaster safety culture at the organizational level of social welfare centers and to seek ways to strengthen disaster management competence at the level of individual social workers. To this end, a survey was conducted with social workers in social welfare centers(community welfare centers, community rehabilitation centers, and senior welfare centers located in Busan. Total 980 questionnaires were distributed, and 896 ones were returned, and the data of 892 research subjects was used for the descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis, structural equation model(measurement model and structural model) analysis, and mediation effects analysis using bootstrapping. The analysis results are as follows. First, it was found that the disaster cognition and disaster risk cognition directly affected the disaster management competence. Secondly, as for the relationship between disaster cognition and disaster management competence, and between their disaster risk cognition and disaster management competence, the mediating effects of disaster preparedness was found statistically significant. In particular, as a result of effect decomposition, it was found that the indirect effect of disaster preparedness had most significant impacts on the disaster management competence, being followed by the direct effect of disaster risk cognition in the order, which suggests that the social welfare academy should increase their interest in disaster preparedness. Based on the above results, it is necessary to seek ways to realize a safety-first organizational culture by raising the value and awareness of disaster safety at the organizational level of social welfare centers. And at the level of individual social workers, it will be necessary to actively participate in various disaster safety education and training. In addition, it will be important to foster expertise and responsibility in disaster safety for the rapid recovery of local communities. Finally, it was suggested that it is important to seek ways to increase disaster preparedness at the organizational level of social welfare centers and individual social workers.

        보건소 직원의 재난대비역량에 관한 연구

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the levels of disaster preparedness competency in public health workers and identify influential factors on disaster preparedness competency. Methods: The data was collected through self-report questionnaires from a convenience sample of 281 public health workers in 2014 in Korea. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression. Results: The mean disaster preparedness competency score was 2.77 and the mean disaster educational needs score was 4.01. Disaster preparedness competency had a statistically significant difference by gender, position, experience of disaster education in workplace, and experience of BLS education. As a result of the multiple regression analysis, disaster preparedness competency accounted for 11.6% of the variance by gender, experience of disaster education in workplace, and experience of BLS education. Conclusion: The results of this study reveal that gender, strengthening education of disasters in the workplace, and education of BLS should be taken into consideration and integrated when developing an effective educational program in order to enhance disaster preparedness competency in public health workers.

        간호대학생의 자아탄력성, 재난 인식, 재난준비도가 재난간호역량에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study was to determine the self-resilience, disaster perception, disaster preparedness, disaster nursing competence, and disaster nursing competence of nursing students and to identify the influences on disaster nursing competence. The study population included 188 nursing students from four universities in J Province. Data collection was conducted from September 1, 2023 to September 30, 2023. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 25.0 program to analyze frequency, mean and standard deviation, independent samples t-test and one-way analysis of variance, and post-hoc analysis using Scheffés test. The correlation between the variables was determined by Pearsons correlation analysis, and the factors affecting disaster nursing competence were subjected to regression analysis. The results of the study showed that disaster nursing competence had a statistically significant positive correlation with self-resilience (r= .30, p< .01), disaster preparedness (r= .91, p< .01), and disaster perception(r= .42, p< .01), and the regression model was significant (F=91.21, p< .01) in the multiple regression analysis. The most significant factor affecting disaster nursing competency was disaster preparedness (β= .89), followed by self-resilience (β=- .18), with an overall explanatory power of 41%. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that disaster nursing curriculum and practical training programs should be developed to increase self-resilience, disaster perception, and disaster preparedness to strengthen disaster nursing competence among nursing students.

        간호대학생의 재난준비도, 재난간호 핵심수행능력 및 교육요구도에 대한 연구

        본 연구는 간호학생의 재난준비도와 재난간호 핵심수행능력 및 교육요구도를 파악하여 재난간호 교육과정 개발을 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 시행된 조사연구로 D 지역 간호대학 및 간호학과 4학년 252명을 대상으로 시행되었다. 연구결 과 대상자의 재난간호 수행능력은 평균 2.76이었으며, 재난간호 수행능력중 “재난상황시 문서기록절차”가 2.34, “소속기관의 재난관련지침”이 2.37로 가장 낮았다. 또한, 대상자의 재난준비도는 평균 2.14이었으며, 가장 낮은 항목은 “집에서의 재난대 피연습” 항목이었다. 대상자의 재난간호 핵심수행능력에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 재난준비도(β=.48), 재난교육요구도(β =.21), 성적(β=.26), 재난교육 여부(β=-.11)로 나타났다. 본 연구결과 간호학생의 재난준비와 재난간호 핵심수행능력은 부족한 실정으로 나타났으며 재난간호에 대한 교육이 절실히 필요하며 간호대학생을 위한 재난간호 교육과정 개발을 위한 교육내용에 대한 연구가 필요하다. This study was aimed to investigate disaster preparedness, core competencies and educational needs on disaster nursing of nursing students and to provide basic data needed for development of disaster nursing educational program. 254 nursing students enrolled in 3 college of nursing in D-city completed questionnaires. The data were collected from November 1, 2014 to November 30, 2014. The average level of core competencies on disaster nursing was 2.76 out of 5 points, which was moderate for the core competencies on disaster nursing. Disaster preparedness was 2.14 out of 5 points, suggesting that they are generally not well prepared for disaster. Factors affecting core competencies on disaster nursing were disaster preparedness, educational needs, grade, and experience of disaster education. It is necessary to develop disaster nursing educational program to reflect the needs of the field in Korea. And Nurse educator needs to develop strategies to prepare their students for disasters. Further research is needed to adequately address this issue.

        국군간호사관학교 생도의 간호역량과 군인정신이 재난대비역량에 미치는 영향

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of nursing competencies and military spirit on disaster preparedness among Korea Armed Forces Nursing Academy (KAFNA) cadets. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted from the 3rd and 4th grade KAFNA cadets. The data were collected from August 17 to 20, 2021. The structured questionnaire consisted of 106 questions about nursing competencies, military spirit, disaster preparedness, and general characteristics of participants. Results: The average score of nursing competencies, military spirit, and disaster preparedness were 3.92±0.48, 3.71±0.61 and 3.35±0.60 out of 5. Disaster preparedness was positively correlated with nursing competencies (r=.62, p<.001) and military spirit (r=.38, p<.001). There was significantly positive correlation between nursing competencies and military spirit. (r=.51, p<.001). The significant influencing factors on disaster preparedness were ‘nursing competencies’ (β=0.51, p<.001) and ‘4th grade’ (β=0.59, p<.001). Conclusion: To enhance the disaster preparedness of cadets in response to disasters, an education program for KAFNA cadets should be focused to improve the nursing competencies based on disaster nursing education.

        항공서비스 전공 대학생의 재난인식, 재난준비도 및 재난대처능력에 관한 연구

        목적 본 연구는 항공서비스 전공 대학생의 재난인식, 재난준비도 및 재난대처능력의 관계를 규명하기 위한 것이다. 방법 연구대상자는 경기도 소재 2개의 전문대학교 항공서비스 전공 대학생 266명이며, 2019년 10월 1일부터 2019년 10월 30일까지 수집된 자료를 SPSS 23.0을 통해 Cronbach s α, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe’s test, Pearson correlation coefficient로 분석하였다. 결과 일반적 특성에 따른 재난인식 정도는 재난교육경험, 지역의 발생 가능한 재난에서 유의한 차이를 나타냈다. 재난준비도 정도는 성별, 대학의 재난대비 모의훈련, 대학의 재난관리 매뉴얼, 지역의 발생 가능한 재난에서 유의한 차이가 있었다. 재난대처능력 정도는 성별, 재난교육경험, 재난교육제공자, 대학의 재난대비 모의훈련, 지역의 발생 가능한 재난에서 유의한 차이가 있었다. 사후 검정한 결과 재난교육제공자는 ‘대학’이 ‘대중매체’ ‘기타’ 보다 재난대처능력이 높게 나타났다. 상관관계의 경우 재난인식은 재난준비도(r=-.185, p=.002)와 재난대처능력(r=.408, p<.001)에서 재난준비도는 재난대처능력(r=-.290, p<.001)과 상관관계를 나타냈다. 결론 연구결과를 통해 항공 산업분야에서 예고 없이 발생하는 가변적 재난상황을 해결하기 위해 재난대처능력이 중요하며 이를 증진시키기 위한 교육방안이 요구됨을 확인하였다. Objectives The objective of this study is to examine the relations of disaster awareness, disaster preparedness, and disaster response ability of college students majoring in aviation services. Methods The research subjects were total 266 college students majoring in aviation services of two colleges in Gyeonggi-do. The data collected from October 1st 2019 to October 30th 2019 was analyzed by using the Cronbach s α, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe s test, and Pearson correlation coefficient through the SPSS 23.0. Results The degree of disaster perception showed significant differences in disaster education experience and possible regional disaster according to the general characteristics. The degree of disaster preparedness showed significant differences in gender, college disaster-coping simulation exercise, college disaster management manual, and possible regional disaster. In the results of post-test, as the disaster education provider, the ‘college’ showed the higher disaster response ability than ‘mass media’ and ‘others’. In case of correlation, the disaster awareness had correlations with disaster preparedness(r=-.185, p=.002) and disaster response ability(r=.408, p<.001) while the disaster preparedness had a correlation with disaster response ability(r=-.290, p<.001). Conclusions The results of this study verified that the disaster response ability would be important for solving such variable disaster situations that would unexpectedly happen in the aviation industrial area, so there should be education measures for enhancing the disaster response ability.
