The majority of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients have a poor prognosis with current therapies, and new approaches are urgently needed. We have developed a novel therapeutic cancer vaccine platform based on tumor cell derived autophagosomes (DRibbles) for cancer immunotherapy. We here evaluated the effectiveness of DRibbles-pulsed dendritic cell (DC) immunization to induce anti-tumor immunity in BALB/c mouse HCC and humanized HCC mouse models generated by transplantation of human HCC cells (HepG2) into BALB/c-nu mice. DRibbles were enriched from H22 or BNL cells, BALB/c-derived HCC cell lines, by inducing autophagy and blocking protein degradation. DRibbles-pulsed DC immunization induced a specific T cell response against HCC and resulted in significant inhibition of tumor growth compared to mice treated with DCs alone. Antitumor efficacy of the DCs-DRibbles vaccine was also demonstrated in a humanized HCC mouse model. The results indicated that HCC/DRibbles-pulsed DCs immunotherapy might be useful for suppressing the growth of residual tumors after primary therapy of human HCC.

This study uses cointegration analysis to examine linkages among the financial markets of Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The results are consistent with the hypotheses that long-run equilibrium relationships exist between Canadian and US. short-term interest rates and between Canadian and US. money supplies, respectively. The U.S. variables are found to have been a dominant force in the respective relationships with the Canadian variables. However, our findings do not lend support to the hypotheses of a cointegrating relationship between the short-term interest rate or the monetary base of Mexico and those of the United States or Canada. Nevertheless, we anticipate that the financial markets of Mexico will become more closely connected with those of the other two NAFTA countries in the future as NAFTA is implemented. Polymorphisms of TERT and CLPTM1L and the Risk of Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Chinese Males

Background: Telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) and cleft lip and palate trans-membrane 1 like (CLPTM1L) genes located on chromosome 5p15.33 are known to influence the susceptibility to various cancers. Here, we examined the association of TERT and CLPTM1L single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Materials and Methods: Genotyping of TERT SNP rs2736098 and CLPTM1L SNP rs401681 was performed using TaqMan allelic discrimination assays in a case-control study of 201 HCC cases and 210 controls in a Chinese male population. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated using logistic regression analyses. Results: Both the rs2736098 T allele of TERT and the rs401681 T allele of CLPTM1L were associated with a significantly increased risk of HCC (adjusted odds ratio [OR]=1.605, 95% confidence interval [CI]=1.164-2.213; adjusted OR=1.399, 95%CI=1.002-1.955, respectively). Individuals carrying both TERT and CLPTM1L risk genotypes had an even higher risk of HCC (adjusted OR=4.420, 95%CI= 2.319-8.425). The TERT rs2736098 T allele was also significantly associated with the level of the HCC clinical indicator alpha-fetoprotein (P=0.026). Conclusions: Our results show that genetic variants of TERT and CLPTM1L may contribute to HCC susceptibility in Chinese males.

Exploring catalyst materials which are advancing, recyclable and with high catalytic performances toremove persistent organic pollutants such as Quinclorac (QNC) is important. In this work, a novel Ndopedcarbon support CoFe2O4/Fe0 hybrid catalyst (CFO/Fe@C) was in situ formed by a simple coprecipitationand calcination process. Fine intergrowth crystal CoFe2O4 and Fe0 were uniformly dispersedon the N-doped porous carbon that derived from the raw material Ethylene Diamine Tetraacetic Acid(EDTA), which also provided chelating effect to prevent the agglomeration of the metals. Interestingly,the Fe0 could only be formed with the presence of cobalt, possibly due to the increased reduction propertyresulted from the particle refinement. The as-formed Fe0 could not only activate the peroxymonosulfate(PMS) but also reduce the Co3+, resulting in a synergistic impact to remarkably enhance thedegradation performance. Besides, the N-doped porous carbon can also benefit the degradation of pollutantby strengthening the electron transfer. A good degradation efficiency of QNC was obtained in CFO/Fe@C-PMS system and most of the QNC had been degraded to carbon dioxide, water and other smallmolecular organisms. The removal rate remained over 70% after four reuses and the material could beeasily recovered from the solution due to the good magnetic properties. Therefore, the as-preparedCFO/Fe@C catalyst should be an ideal catalyst for the removal of organic pollutants.

As one of the largest Chinese entrepreneurs in Indonesia, Lippo Group plays an important role in Indonesia’s economic development. In the field of real estate, Lippo Karawaci is one of the largest real estate developers in Indonesia, which has an extensive business network in Southeast Asia. It also has strong strength in the financial field, and owns banks, securities companies, insurance companies and other financial institutions. In addition, the group also has businesses in healthcare, education, retail and more. Lippo Group has brought employment opportunities and growth momentum to the local economy through its investment and expansion in Indonesia. Lippo Group is not only an important pillar of the Indonesian economy, but also committed to social responsibility and sustainable development, making positive contributions to Indonesian society. It actively participates in social public welfare undertakings, including education, medical care, disaster relief and so on. The Lippo Group plays an important role in Indonesia’s economic development, but it has been less studied in Korea and China. Therefore, this research investigates the history of the enterprise development and the relevant business fields of the enterprise. and analyzes the corporate competitiveness of Lippo Group using SWOT analysis and five forces model. The purpose of this study is to contribute academically to the study of overseas Chinese enterprises in Indonesia and Korea and to provide insights for Korean enterprises to enter Indonesia by studying Lippo Group, the largest Chinese enterprise group in Indonesia, and analyzing its characteristics in terms of its development history, business fields, and competitiveness.

Background: The purpose of this research was to assess the role of heparanase (HPSE)/syndecan1 (SDC1)/nerve growth factor (NGF) on cancer pain from melanoma. Methods: The influence of HPSE on the biological function of melanoma cells and cancer pain in a mouse model was evaluated. Immunohistochemical staining was used to analyze HPSE and SDC1. HPSE, NGF, and SDC1 were detected using western blot. Inflammatory factors were detected using ELISA assay. Results: HPSE promoted melanoma cell viability, proliferation, migration, invasion, and tumor growth, as well as cancer pain, while SST0001 treatment reversed the promoting effect of HPSE. HPSE up-regulated NGF, and NGF feedback promoted HPSE. High expression of NGF reversed the inhibitory effect of HPSE down-regulation on melanoma cell phenotype deterioration, including cell viability, proliferation, migration, and invasion. SST0001 down-regulated SDC1 expression. SDC1 reversed the inhibitory effect of SST0001 on cancer pain. Conclusions: The results showed that HPSE promoted melanoma development and cancer pain by interacting with NGF/SDC1. It provides new insights to better understand the role of HPSE in melanoma and also provides a new direction for cancer pain treatment.

This study aimed to verify the effects of estrogen on the onset and development of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and the mechanisms associated with these effects by constructing a pubescent bipedal rat model. Experiments were conducted to investigate whether scoliosis progression was prevented by a Triptorelin treatment. One hundred twenty bipedal rats were divided into female, OVX (ovariectomy), OVX + E2, Triptorelin, sham, and male groups. According to a spinal radiographic analysis, the scoliosis rates and curve severity of the female and OVX + E2 groups were higher than those in the OVX, Triptorelin, and male groups. The measurements obtained from the sagittal plane of thoracic vertebrae CT confirmed a relatively slower growth of the anterior elements and a faster growth of the posterior elements between T11 and T13 in the female and OVX + E2 groups than in the OVX and Triptorelin groups. Histomorphometry and immunohistochemistry revealed a significantly longer hypertrophic zone of the vertebral cartilage growth plates that expressed more type X collagen and less type II collagen in the OVX and Triptorelin groups than in the female and OVX + E2 groups. Ki67 immunostaining confirmed an increase in the proliferation of vertebral growth plate chondrocytes in the OVX group compared with the female and OVX + E2 groups. In conclusion, estrogen obviously increased the incidence of scoliosis and curve severity in pubescent bipedal rats. The underlying mechanism may be a loss of coupling of the endochondral ossification between the anterior and posterior columns. Osteosarcoma is a common malignant tumor of bone, but mechanisms underlying its development are still unclear. At present, it is believed that the inhibition of normal apoptotic mechanisms is one of the reasons for the development of tumors, so specific stimulation of tumor cell apoptosis can be considered as an important therapeutic method. Livin, as a member of the newly discovered inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs) family, has specifically high expression in tumor tissues and can inhibit tumor cell apoptosis through multiple ways, which can become a new target for malignant tumor treatment (including osteosarcoma) and might of great significance in the clinical diagnosis of tumors and the screening of anti-tumor agents and carcinoma treatment.
