Genetic Diversity and Structure of Cordyceps sinensis Populations from Extensive Geographical Regions in China as Revealed by Inter-Simple Sequence Repeat Markers

        Hong-Hui Liang,Zhou Cheng,Xiao-Ling Yang,Shan Li,Zu-Quan Ding,Tong-Shui Zhou,Wen-Ju Zhang,Jia-Kuan Chen 한국미생물학회 2008 The journal of microbiology Vol.46 No.5

Cordyceps sinensis is one of the most valuable medicinal caterpillar fungi native to China. However, its productivity is extremely limited and the species is becoming endangered. The genetic diversity of eighteen C. sinensis populations across its major distributing regions in China was evaluated by inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers. A total of 141 markers were produced in 180 individuals from the 18 populations, of which 99.3% were polymorphic. The low average of Shannon (0.104) and Nei index (0.07) of the 18 populations indicates that there are little genetic variations within populations. For all 18 populations, estimates of total gene diversity (HT), gene diversity within populations (HS), coefficient of genetic differentiation (GST), and gene flow (Nm) were 0.170, 0.071, 0.583, and 0.357, respectively. This pattern suggests that the genetic diversity of C. sinensis is low and most of the ISSR variations are found among populations with little gene exchange. The 18 populations are divided into five groups based on the genetic distance and the grouping pattern matches with the geographic distribution along the latitudinal gradient. The five groups show obvious difference in the GST and Nm values. Therefore, the genetic diversification of C. sinensis populations may be determined by geographic isolation and the combined effects of life history characters and the interaction with host insect species. The information illustrated by this study is useful for selecting in situ conservation sites of C. sinensis.

A novel ceramic GEM used for neutron detection

        Zhou, Jianrong,Zhou, Xiaojuan,Zhou, Jianjin,Jiang, Xingfen,Yang, Jianqing,Zhu, Lin,Yang, Wenqin,Yang, Tao,Xu, Hong,Xia, Yuanguang,Yang, Gui-an,Xie, Yuguang,Huang, Chaoqiang,Hu, Bitao,Sun, Zhijia,Chen, Korean Nuclear Society 2020 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.52 No.6

A novel ceramic Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) has been developed to meet the demand of high counting rate for the neutron detection which is an alternative to 3He-based detector at China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS). An experiment was performed to measure the neutron transmittance of ceramic-GEM and FR4-GEM at the small angle neutron scattering (SANS) instrument. The result showed the ceramic-GEM has higher transmittance and less self-scattering especially for cold neutrons. One single ceramic GEM could give a gain of 102-104 in the mixture gas of Ar and CO2 (90%:10%) and its energy resolution was about 27.7% by using 55Fe X ray of 5.9 keV. A prototype has been developed in order to investigate the performances of the ceramic GEM-based neutron detector. Several neutron beam tests, including detection efficiency, spatial resolution, two-dimensional imaging, and wavelength spectrum, were carried out at CSNS and China Mianyang Research Reactor (CMRR). The results show that the ceramic GEM-based neutron detector is a good candidate to measure the high intensity neutrons.

Analysis and validation of novel inverter and LCC‑S topology‑based WPT system

        Hong Zhou,Haitang Liu,Qijun Deng,Li Fang 전력전자학회 2022 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.22 No.3

Wireless power transfer (WPT) technology has been widely researched and employed due to its advantages when compared with conventional cable-connected power transmission in terms of convenience, flexibility, security, and so on. In common wireless power transfer systems, DC sources, such as batteries and AC–DC modules, are frequently utilized in the front end of the inverters to generate a relatively high frequency circuit driving voltage. The strategy of directly arranging inverters behind AC sources is feasible by replacing a single NMOS with a pair of back-to-back placed switches that can tolerate both forward and reverse voltage. This novel inverter structure is systematically explored from the perspectives of the time domain and the frequency domain, which demonstrates the convenience and feasibility of the proposed structure. Due to the canceling of the front-end rectifier, the complexity of the system hardware is significantly reduced. In addition, when taking the constant current output feature into account, the LCC-S topology is comprehensively investigated and properly applied. Finally, a laboratory platform is constructed and experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed structure. Furthermore, experiment results show that there is only a slight transfer efficiency decrease when compared with the commonly adopted scheme containing an extra diode rectifier at the transmitting side.

      • Hofsted's cultrual dimensions and MENs' cross-cultural management in China

        Zhou Hong,Guo Ying,Xu Dellilng 인하대학교 정석물류통상연구원 2009 인하대학교 정석물류통상연구원 학술대회 Vol.2009 No.10

The world economy has obviously changed over last five decades. Growing internationalization and involving globalization have become its distinctive features. In addition, the activities of MNEs play an important role in international business activities. The increasing influence of MNEs has proved a double-edged sword. From the theoretical perspective, the jobs of Hofstede’s Cultural Dimensions have showed the culture’s inflluence in the context of cross-cultural management function in organizations, while some approaches have concluded to realize the influence of cultural diversity on the ways of knowing, doing and learning. The paper has examined Hofstede’s Cultural Dimensions and investigated some problems related to MNEs’ cross-cultural management in Chinese cases. Based on some key discussions in academic fields, the paper would highlight more implications from Hofstede’s Cultural Dimensions to argue Chinese cases in current global background.

A new high-order response surface method for structural reliability analysis

        Hong-Shuang Li,Zhen-Zhou Lu,Hong-Wei Qiao 국제구조공학회 2010 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.34 No.6

In order to consider high-order effects on the actual limit state function, a new response surface method is proposed for structural reliability analysis by the use of high-order approximation concept in this study. Hermite polynomials are used to determine the highest orders of input random variables, and the sampling points for the determination of highest orders are located on Gaussian points of Gauss-Hermite integration. The cross terms between two random variables, only in case that their corresponding percent contributions to the total variation of limit state function are significant, will be added to the response surface function to improve the approximation accuracy. As a result, significant reduction in computational cost is achieved with this strategy. Due to the addition of cross terms, the additional sampling points, laid on two-dimensional Gaussian points off axis on the plane of two significant variables, are required to determine the coefficients of the approximated limit state function. All available sampling points are employed to construct the final response surface function. Then, Monte Carlo Simulation is carried out on the final approximation response surface function to estimate the failure probability. Due to the use of high order polynomial, the proposed method is more accurate than the traditional second-order or linear response surface method. It also provides much more efficient solutions than the available high-order response surface method with less loss in accuracy. The efficiency and the accuracy of the proposed method compared with those of various response surface methods available are illustrated by five numerical examples.

Comparative Study between ZOOMit and Conventional Intravoxel Incoherent Motion MRI for Assessing Parotid Gland Abnormalities in Patients with Early- or Mid-Stage Sjögren’s Syndrome

        Zhou Qing-Qing,Zhang Wei,Yu Yu-Sheng,Li Hong-Yan,Wei Liang,Li Xue-Song,He Zhen-Zhen,Zhang Hong 대한영상의학회 2022 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.23 No.4

Objective: To compare the reproducibility and performance of quantitative metrics between ZOOMit and conventional intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the diagnosis of early- and mid-stage Sjögren’s syndrome (SS). Materials and Methods: Twenty-two patients (mean age ± standard deviation, 52.0 ± 10.8 years; male:female, 2:20) with early- or mid-stage SS and 20 healthy controls (46.9 ± 14.6 years; male:female, 7:13) were prospectively enrolled in our study. ZOOMit IVIM and conventional IVIM MRI were performed simultaneously in all individuals using a 3T scanner. Quantitative IVIM parameters - including tissue diffusivity (D), pseudodiffusion coefficient (D*), and perfusion fraction (f) - inter- and intra-observer reproducibility in measuring these parameters, and their ability to distinguish patients with SS from healthy individuals were assessed and compared between ZOOMit IVIM and conventional IVIM methods, appropriately. MR gland nodular grade (MRG) was also examined. Results: Inter- and intra-observer reproducibility was better with ZOOMit imaging than with conventional IVIM imaging (ZOOMit vs. conventional, intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.897–0.941 vs. 0.667–0.782 for inter-observer reproducibility and 0.891–0.968 vs. 0.814–0.853 for intra-observer reproducibility). Significant differences in ZOOMit f, ZOOMit D*, conventional D*, and MRG between patients with SS and healthy individuals (all p < 0.05) were observed. ZOOMit D* outperformed conventional D* in diagnosing early- and mid-stage SS (area under receiver operating curve, 0.867 and 0.658, respectively; p = 0.002). The combination of ZOOMit D*, MRG, and ZOOMit f as a new diagnostic index for SS, increased diagnostic area under the curve to 0.961, which was higher than that of any single parameter (all p < 0.01). Conclusion: Considering its better reproducibility and performance, ZOOMit IVIM may be preferred over conventional IVIM MRI, and may subsequently improve the ability to diagnose early- and mid-stage SS.

Computational analysis of welding radial deformation of typical pressure cylindrical shell with ring stiffener

Zhou Hong,Shen Chaonan,Wang Jiangchao 대한조선학회 2022 International Journal of Naval Architecture and Oc Vol.14 No.1

We report on the evaluation of the radial deformation caused by the welding process on a typical pressure cylindrical shell with ring stiffeners. Welding experiments on butt and fillet welding were conducted beforehand, and temperature-dependent material properties were considered. The out-ofplane welding distortion and residual stress were measured using a three-coordinate measuring machine and X-ray diffraction, respectively. Effective thermal elastic plastic FE analysis based on parallel computation technology was performed to examine the mechanical behaviors. Computed results were validated by comparison with experimental measurements. Welding inherent deformations of the examined butt and fillet joints were then evaluated by integrating computed plastic strains. The elastic FE analysis, with welding inherent deformation as mechanical loading, was employed to examine the dimensional variation of the considered pressure cylindrical shell. The influence of ring stiffener on welding radial deformation was also discussed. Moreover, the application of welding sequence modification and inverse deformation was numerically examined with the proposed elastic FE analysis to reduce the welding radial deformation and enhance the fabrication accuracy.

      • Genetic Variants of CYP2D6 Gene and Cancer Risk: A HuGE Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Zhou, Li-Ping,Luan, Hong,Dong, Xi-Hua,Jin, Guo-Jiang,Man, Dong-Liang,Shang, Hong Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.7

Objective: Genetic polymorphisms in metabolic enzymes are associated with numerous cancers. A large number of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the CYP2D6 gene have been reported to associate with cancer susceptibility. However, the results are controversial. The aim of this Human Genome Epidemiology (HuGE) review and meta-analysis was to summarize the evidence for associations. Methods: Studies focusing on the relationship between CYP2D6 gene polymorphisms and susceptibility to cancer were selected from the Pubmed, Cochrane library, Embase, Web of Science, Springerlink, CNKI and CBM databases. Data were extracted by two independent reviewers and the meta-analysis was performed with Review Manager Version 5.1.6 and STATA Version 12.0 software. Odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (95%CIs) were calculated. Results: According to the inclusion criteria, forty-three studies with a total of 7,009 cancer cases and 9,646 healthy controls, were included in the meta-analysis. The results showed that there was a positive association between heterozygote (GC) of rs1135840 and cancer risk (OR=1.92, 95%CI: 1.14-3.21, P=0.01). In addition, we found that homozygote (CC) of rs1135840 might be a protective factor for cancer (OR=0.58, 95%CI: 0.34-0.97, P=0.04). Similarly, the G allele and G carrier (AG + GG) of rs16947 and heterozygote (A/del) of rs35742686 had negative associations with cancer risk (OR=0.69, 95%CI: 0.48-0.99, P=0.04; OR=0.60, 95%CI: 0.38-0.94, P=0.03; OR=0.50, 95%CI: 0.26-0.95, P=0.03; respectively). Conclusion: This meta-analysis suggests that CYP2D6 gene polymorphisms are involved in the pathogenesis of various cancers. The heterozygote (GC) of rs1135840 in CYP2D6 gene might increase the risk while the homozygote (CC) of rs1135840, G allele and G carrier (AG + GG) of rs16947 and heterozygote (A/del) of rs35742686 might be protective factors.

Hardness prediction based on microstructure evolution and residual stress evaluation during high tensile thick plate butt welding

Zhou, Hong,Zhang, Qingya,Yi, Bin,Wang, Jiangchao The Society of Naval Architects of Korea 2020 International Journal of Naval Architecture and Oc Vol.12 No.-

Two High Tensile Strength Steel (EH47) plates with thickness of 70 mm were butt-welded together by multi-pass Submerged Arc Welding (SAW), also the hardness and welding residual stress were investigated experimentally. Based on Thermal-Elastic-Plastic Finite Element (TEP FE) computation, the thermal cycles during entire welding process were obtained, and the HAZ hardness of multi-pass butt welded joint was computed by the hardenability algorithm with considering microstructure evolution. Good agreement of HAZ hardness between the measurement and computational result is observed. The evolution of each phase was drawn to clarify the influence mechanism of thermal cycle on HAZ hardness. Welding residual stress was predicted with considering mechanical response, which was dominantly determined by last cap welds through analyzing its formation process.
