Bubble formation in a step-emulsification microdevice: hydrodynamic effects in the cavity
Zhiwei Zhang,Zhongdong Wang,Fengrui Bao,Mengyu Fan,Shaokun Jiang,Chunying Zhu,Youguang Ma,Taotao Fu 한국공업화학회 2021 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.94 No.-
This study focuses on the generation of bubbles in a step-emulsification microdevice via a two-anglephotography method. It's found that the bubble generation mechanism is controlled by the interfacialtension, below a critical capillary number; while controlled by viscous force, inertial force and thedisturbance induced by the bubble swarm, above the critical capillary number. From the two-anglephotography method, a model is established for predicting the bubble size, by taking into account of thedynamic contact angle between gas-liquid interface and wall, and the hydrodynamic feedback of thecavity on bubble formation via the quantification of resistance by the volume fraction of gas in the cavity.

This study focuses on the influence of the resultant force caused by the density difference of the twophases on the droplet generation process in a step-emulsification microfluidic device. Threedimensionalvisualization is used to observe the characteristics of droplet generation. According to thedifference in droplet generation form, it can be divided into drip generation mode and suspended generationmode. In the suspended generation mode, the droplets are more inclined to the formation process ofthe expansion of the ellipsoid, whose size in the horizontal direction is larger than the vertical direction;while in the drip generation mode, the shape of the droplet is opposite. The control stage of the dropletgeneration under various operating conditions is determined. As the viscosity of the dispersed phaseincreases, the control stage of the suspended generation mode is the necking stage, and the control stageof the drip generation mode changes from the first stage of three-dimensional expansion to the neckingstage. The model of the droplet generation is proposed by combining mechanical analysis and experimentaltesting data, and the droplet size prediction formula is thereby obtained.

This paper presents the study on failure mechanism of single-layer saddle-curve reticulated shells subjected to severe earthquake. Failure mode of single-layer saddle-curve reticulated shells is illustrated with the consideration of material damage accumulation. The effects of different parameters on failure characteristics of single-layer saddle-curve reticulated shells are discussed. The influence of substructure upon failure behaviors of single-layer saddle-curve reticulated shells is particularly investigated. It is observed that dynamic strength failure is the failure mode of single-layer saddle-curve reticulated shells. The substructure has great influence on failure characteristics of single-layer saddle-curve reticulated shells subjected to the severe earthquake.
A Scalable PKI Based on P2P Network
Zhiwei Gao,Jinsheng Fan,Yufeng Jia,Li Zhang 보안공학연구지원센터 2007 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.1 No.2
Public key infrastructure (PKI) is a powerful tool for protecting information. Currently a PKI system shows a trend toward an emerging global PKI which becomes more complicated. The global PKI has to handle an enormous number of queries for cryptographic certificates which attest the authenticity of public keys. So a decentralized organization of the PKI is advantageously. Therefore we developed a specialized Peer-to-Peer-PKI model realizing efficient search and transfer of certificates and trust-recommendations. Our model based on our own rigorous binary tree algorithm and has four advantages. First, there is no any bottleneck problem when establishing a certification path or authenticating. Second, the authentication path is short with two constant logic steps. Third, in our model the entities need to mutual authenticate don’t need to inquire or download the CRL. Fourth, it’s easy to extend and suitable for large-scale network.

To enhance the structural connectivity of prefabricated steel frame systems and augment their construction effi ciency, this study introduces an innovative prefabricated joint design tailored for square steel columns and H-beams characterized by varying beam heights. This study includes both static loading tests and seismic tests performed on full-scale joints featuring two diff erent beam heights. This investigation involved a comprehensive analysis of the static and seismic performance of the joints, employing various performance metrics such as ultimate load capacities, ultimate rotation angles, hysteresis curves, skeleton curves, stiff ness degradation curves, and ductility coeffi cients, in alignment with established structural codes and standards. The results indicate that the plasticity of the H-beam is fully developed, exhibiting a relative slip phenomenon. Additionally, the joints demonstrate commendable rotational capacity, with hysteresis curves consistently manifesting an inverse S-shape and exhibiting noteworthy stiff ness degradation. Furthermore, the comparison with the unimproved joint shows that the novel joint, in addition to being easy to construct, has better ductility and energy dissipation capacity. The results of the study will provide a technical reference for further optimization and application of prefabricated beam-column joints.
The Effect of miR-361-3p Targeting TRAF6 on Apoptosis of Multiple Myeloma Cells
( Zhen Fan ),( Zhiwei Wu ),( Bo Yang ) 한국미생물생명공학회(구 한국산업미생물학회) 2021 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.31 No.2
microRNA-361-3p (miR-361-3p) is involved in the carcinogenesis of oral cancer and pancreatic catheter adenocarcinoma, and has anti-carcinogenic effects on non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, its effect on multiple myeloma (MM) is less reported. Here, we found that upregulating the expression of miR-361-3p inhibited MM cell viability and promoted MM apoptosis. We measured expressions of tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6) and miR-361-3p in MM cells and detected the viability, colony formation rate, and apoptosis of MM cells. In addition, we measured expressions of apoptosis-related genes Bcl-2, Bax, and Cleaved caspase-3 (C caspase-3). The binding site between miR-361-3p and TRAF6 was predicted by TargetScan. Our results showed that miR-361-3p was low expressed in the plasma of MM patients and cell lines, while its overexpression inhibited viability and colony formation of MM cells and increased the cell apoptosis. Furthermore, TRAF6, which was predicted to be a target gene of miR-361-3p, was highexpressed in the plasma of patients and cell lines with MM. Rescue experiments demonstrated that the effect of TRAF6 on MM cells was opposite to that of miR-361-3p. Upregulation of miR-361-3p induced apoptosis and inhibited the proliferation of MM cells through targeting TRAF6, suggesting that miR-361-3p might be a potential target for MM therapy.

The fatigue flexural behavior of corroded reinforced concrete (RC) beams was experimentally and analytically examined. Seven beams were constructed and tested, and an analytical fatigue prediction model (FPM) was proposed to assess the fatigue behavior of the corroded beams. After validating the FPM with the experimental test results, the FPM was then extended to better understand the effects of the degree of steel corrosion, the corrosion pit geometry, and the fatigue load level on the performance of corroded RC beams. The results show that the fatigue behavior of the corroded steel bars determines the fatigue behavior of the beams. Rebar corrosion has a significant detrimental effect on the fatigue performance of RC beams due to stress concentration, loss of steel cross-sectional area, and diminished bonding at the steel-concrete interface. The stress concentrations increase with increasing pit width-to-length and depth-to-diameter ratios. Differences in pit geometry and the resulting changes in stress concentrations due to corrosion should be considered when assessing fatigue performance.

The problem of robust finite-horizon l2-l∞ filtering is investigated for a class of discrete-time Markovian jump systems under denial-of-service attacks. The considered dynamic model is more appropriate, on account of polyhedral feature of time-varying transition probabilities. Denial-of-service attack that may jam or compromise the measurement packets on communication channels is assumed as a Bernoulli distributed sequence. Based on stochastic Lyapunov function approach, sufficient criteria corresponding to the error system are established for designing a finite-horizon l2-l∞ filter in the light of linear matrix inequalities. In the end, three illustrative examples are worked out to substantiate the theoretical results.

Three comprehensive acid deposition models were used to simulate the sulfur concentrations over northeast Asia over the period covering entire year of 2002, and discussed the aggregated uncertainties and discrepancies of the three models. The participating models are from the countries participating in the project of Longrange Transboundary Air Pollutants in Northeast Asia (LTP): China,Japan and Korea. The Eulerian Model-3/CMAQ (by China), Regional Air Quality Model (RAQM, by Japan), and Comprehensive Acid Deposition Model (CADM, by Korea) were employed by each country with common emissions data established by the administrative agencies of China, Japan and Korea. The episodic simulation results between 1 to 15, March 2002 are also presented, during which aircraft measurements were carried out over the Yellow sea. The episodic results show both a wide short-term variability in simulations against measurements, and maximum concentration differences of 3~5 times among the three models, requiring that further attention before confidence among the three models can be claimed for short-term simulations. However, the year-long cumulative simulations showed almost the same general features, with lower aggregated uncertainties between the three models, produced by the long term integration over northeast Asia.
Effect of BRBs on the Seismic Resistance of Single-Layer Reticulated Domes
Xudong Zhi,Feng Fan,Feng Shi,Zhiwei Yu 한국강구조학회 2013 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.13 No.1
This paper considers the seismic resistance of buckling restrained braces (BRB) in single-layer reticulated domes and their substructures. The method of tracing the full-range dynamic response is used to analyze the seismic response of dome structures with different embedded braces. Based on results relating to critical responses, such as displacement, development of plastic deformation and ultimate load, the effect of BRBs on key design parameters, including core area, yield stress, installing forms etc., is examined. The effect of a dome’s rise-span ratio on the structure is also investigated. It is concluded that BRBs between supporting columns can effectively improve a structure’s seismic performance.
