      • The Prevalence and Genotype of Human Papillomavirus from Patients with Genital Warts in Eastern Guangdong Province

        Luo, Zhao-Yun,Chen, Qiang,Yang, Hui,Lin, Min,Chen, Chan-Yu,Yang, Chun,Yang, Li-Ye Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.14

Background: Low-risk human papillomavirus (LR-HPV) infection is the main cause of genital warts. LRHPV genotypes 6 and 11 are associated with genital warts, but there have only been a few published studies about the genotype-specific prevalence of HPV in genital warts in China. The objective of our study was to assess the prevalence of HPV genotypes for clinical cases involving both men and women and to evaluate the potential benefit of a quadrivalent (genotypes 6, 11, 16, and 18) HPV vaccine in eastern Guangdong province of China. Materials and Methods: A total of 696 eligible patients with genital warts were enrolled during the period Aug 2009 through Oct 2014. Specimens were collected from genital warts, the HPV GenoArray test was used for HPV detection and genotyping, which could detect 21 HPV genotypes, including genotypes 6, 11, 16, and 18. Results: Among the 696 cases, 675 samples were successfully genotyped. The median age of patients was 32.1 years (range, 16-67 years). The most prevalent genotypes were HPV-6 (285/675, 42.2%), HPV-11 (265/675, 39.3%), HPV-52 (52/675, 7.7%), HPV-16 (51/675, 7.56%), HPV-81 (50/675, 7.40%) and HPV-58 (37/675, 5.48%). Low-risk genotypes predominated, with a prevalence of 96.59%. The cumulative prevalence of genotypes 6 and 11 was 78.7% (531/675), the cumulative prevalence of genotypes 16 and 18 was 11.6% (78/675), and the cumulative prevalence of genotypes 6, 11, 16, and 18 was 82.5% (557/675). Conclusions: Our results provide strong evidence that, in eastern Guangdong, different from Western countries, the most prevalent low risk HPV genotypes in patients with genital warts are 6, 11 and 81. The quadrivalent HPV vaccine could prevent 82.5% of genital warts in eastern Guangdong.

Performance Evaluations of Four MAF-Based PLL Algorithms for Grid-Synchronization of Three-Phase Grid-Connected PWM Inverters and DGs

        Yang Han,Mingyu Luo,Changqing Chen,Aiting Jiang,Xin Zhao,Josep M. Guerrero 전력전자학회 2016 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.16 No.5

The moving average filter (MAF) is widely utilized to improve the disturbance rejection capability of phase-locked loops (PLLs). This is of vital significance for the grid-integration and stable operation of power electronic converters to electric power systems. However, the open-loop bandwidth is drastically reduced after incorporating a MAF into the PLL structure, which makes the dynamic response sluggish. To overcome this shortcoming, some new techniques have recently been proposed to improve the transient response of MAF-based PLLs. In this paper, a comprehensive performance comparison of advanced MAF-based PLL algorithms is presented. This comparison includes HPLL, MPLC-PLL, QT1-PLL, and DMAF-PLL. Various disturbances, such as grid voltage sag, voltage flicker, harmonics distortion, phase-angle and frequency jumps, DC offsets and noise, are considered to experimentally test the dynamic performances of these PLL algorithms. Finally, an improved positive sequence extraction method for a HPLL under the frequency jumps scenario is presented to compensate for the steady-state error caused by non-frequency adaptive DSC, and a satisfactory performance has been achieved.

Metagenomics analysis of the gut microbiome in healthy and bacterial pneumonia forest musk deer

        Wei Zhao,Ziwei Ren,Yan Luo,Jianguo Cheng,Jie Wang,Yin Wang,Zexiao Yang,Xueping Yao,Zhijun Zhong,Wei Yang,Xi Wu 한국유전학회 2021 Genes & Genomics Vol.43 No.1

Background The forest musk deer (FMD, Moschus berezovskii) is an threatened species in China. Bacterial pneumonia was found to seriously restrict the development of FMD captive breeding. Historical evidence has demonstrated the relationship between immune system and intestinal Lactobacillus in FMD. Objective We sought to elucidate the diferences in the gut microbiota of healthy and bacterial pneumonia FMD. Methods The bacterial pneumonia FMD was demonstrated by bacterial and pathological diagnosis, and the gut microbiome of healthy and bacterial pneumonia FMD was sequenced and analysed. Results There are three pathogens (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Streptococcus equinus and Trueperella pyogenes) isolated from the bacterial pneumonia FMD individuals. Compared with the healthy group, the abundance of Firmicutes and Proteobacteria in the pneumonia group was changed, and a high level of Proteobacteria was found in the pneumonia group. In addition, a higher abundance of Acinetobacter (p=0.01) was observed in the population of the pneumonia group compared with the healthy group. Several potentially harmful bacteria and disease-related KEGG subsystems were only found in the gut of the bacterial pneumonia group. Analysis of KEGG revealed that many genes related to type IV secretion system, type IV pilus, lipopolysaccharide export system, HTH-type transcriptional regulator/antitoxin MqsA, and ArsR family transcriptional regulator were signifcantly enriched in the metagenome of the bacterial pneumonia FMD. Conclusion Our results demonstrated that the gut microbiome was signifcantly altered in the bacterial pneumonia group. Overall, our research improves the understanding of the potential role of the gut microbiota in the FMD bacterial pneumonia.

The Significantly Enhanced Mechanical and Tribological Performances of the Dual Plasma Nitrided and PVD Coated Ti6Al4V Alloy

        Jiaqiang Yang,Kai Le,Hui Chen,Xu Zhao,Xiaodong Xie,Yong Luo,Shusheng Xu,Weiming Liu 한국정밀공학회 2023 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.24 No.4

In this work, plasma pre-nitriding technique has been employed to enhance the bearing capacity for the TiN coating deposited on Ti6Al4V alloy by magnetron sputtering. The composition, morphology and mechanical property of the as-prepared samples were studied by the X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscope (SEM), Vickers micro-hardness tester and nanoindentater. The tribological properties are investigated using a rotary tribometer under dry sliding and oil lubrication, and the mechanism was also discussed in details. The results show that the plasma nitriding treatment produced a nitrided layer with thickness of 85 μm on the surface of Ti6Al4V alloy, which significantly enhanced the mechanical properties. Therefore, the as-prepared TiN coated sample with plasma pre-nitriding treatment exhibit more excellent mechanical properties possessing the maximum hardness values (26 GPa) and exceptional load bearing capacity (74 N) compared to single TiN-coated Ti6Al4V. Moreover, the tribological properties of sample with plasma pre-nitriding treatment was also significantly improved, which was attributed to the synergistic effect of the superior bearing performance of nitriding layer and the high hardness of TiN coating. Additionally, wear mechanisms were discussed in terms of wear track morphology after sliding test.

Free-Matrix-based integral inequality for stability analysis of uncertain T-S fuzzy systems with time-varying delay

        Wenpin Luo,Jun Yang,Xin Zhao 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2016 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.14 No.4

This paper focuses on further improved stability criteria for uncertain T-S fuzzy systems with timevaryingdelay by delay-partitioning approach and Free-Matrix-based integral inequality. A modified augmentedLyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) is established by partitioning the delay in all integral terms. Then, on thebasis of taking into account the independent upper bounds of the delay derivative in various delay intervals, somenew results on tighter bounding inequalities, such as Peng-Park’s integral inequality and the Free-Matrix-basedintegral inequality are employed to effectively reduce the enlargement in bounding the derivative of LKF, therefore, less conservative results can be expected in terms of es and LMIs. Finally, three numerical examples are includedto show that the proposed method is less conservative than existing ones.

      • Predictive Role of Glutathione-S-transferase Gene Polymorphisms in the Survival of Gastric Cancer Cases

Wang, Zhao-Yang,Zhou, Jing,Luo, Li,Huang, Ying-Long,Dong, Pei-De Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.4

Aim: We conducted a prospective study in an Chinese population to detect the association between GSTM, GSTT and GSTP gene polymorphisms and survival of gastric cancer. Methods: A prospective follow-up study with 317 gastric cancer patients was conducted between January 2003 and January 2005. GSTM1, GSTT1 and GSTP1 genotyping was performed using ABI TaqMan Gene Expression assays. Results: Of 317 patients, 5 were lost to follow-up due to migration, while the remaining 302 patients completed the study. The median follow-up time was 34.2 months (range: 2 to 60 months), during which a total of 120 (39.1%) died of gastric cancer. The GSTT1-null genotype showed a significant increased risk of death from gastric cancer, with an HR (95% CI) of 1.59 (1.04-3.58). Moreover, we found individuals carrying null-GSTM1 and null-GSTT1 had a moderate higher risk of death from gastric cancer, with an HR of 1.92 (1.05-3.65). Conclusion: This study reported the carriage of null GSTT1 and null GSTM1 might be linked to the higher death risk from gastric cancer in Chinese population.

Histone Deacetylase-3 Modification of MicroRNA-31 Promotes Cell Proliferation and Aerobic Glycolysis in Breast Cancer and Is Predictive of Poor Prognosis

        Yunfei Zhao,Jiao He,Ling Yang,Qichi Luo,Zhi Liu 한국유방암학회 2018 Journal of breast cancer Vol.21 No.2

Purpose: The incidence and mortality of breast cancer is increasing worldwide. There is a constant quest to understand the underlying molecular biology of breast cancer so as to plan better treatment options. The purpose of the current study was to characterize the expression of histone deacetylases-3 (HDAC3), a member of class I HDACs, and assess the clinical significance of HDAC3 in breast cancer. Methods: Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, immunohistochemistry, and western blot analysis were used to examine messenger RNA and protein expression levels. The relationships between HDAC3 expression and clinicopathological variables were analyzed. MTT assays were used to detect cell proliferation. Glucose-uptake, lactate, adenosine triphosphate, and lactate dehydrogenase assays were employed to detect aerobic glycolysis. Chromatin immunoprecipitation was used to detect microRNA-31 (miR-31) promoter binding. Results: Our data revealed that HDAC3 was upregulated in breast cancer tissue compared with matched para-carcinoma tissues, and high levels of HDAC3 were positively correlated with advanced TNM stage and N stage of cancer. Furthermore, overexpression of HDAC3 promoted breast cancer cellproliferation and aerobic glycolysis. The functional involvement of HDAC3 was related in part to the repression of miR-31 transcription via decreased histone H3 acetylation at lysine K9 levels of the miR-31 promoter. Survival analysis revealed that the level of HDAC3 was an independent prognostic factor for breast cancer patients. Conclusion: Our findings revealed that HDAC3 served as an oncogene that could promote cell proliferation and aerobic glycolysis and was predictive of a poor prognosis in breast cancer. HDAC3 participated in the cell proliferation of breast cancer, which may prove to be a pivotal epigenetic target against this devastating disease.

Sodium tanshinone IIA sulfonate attenuates angiotensin II-induced collagen type I expression in cardiac fibroblasts in vitro

        Le Yang,Xiao-Jing Zou,Xiang Gao,Hao Chen,Jin-Long Luo,Zhao-Hua Wang,Qian-Sheng Liang,Guang-Tian Yang 생화학분자생물학회 2009 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.41 No.7

Cardiac fibrosis occurs after pathological stimuli to the cardiovascular system. One of the most important factors that contribute to cardiac fibrosis is angiotensin II (Ang II). Accumulating studies have suggested that reactive oxygen species (ROS) plays an important role in cardiac fibrosis and sodium tanshinone IIA sulfonate (STS) possesses antioxidant action. We therefore examined whether STS depresses Ang II-induced collagen type I expression in cardiac fibroblasts. In this study, Ang II significantly enhanced collagen type I expression and collagen synthesis. Meanwhile, Ang II depressed matrix metalloproteinase- 1 (MMP-1) expression and activity. These responses were attenuated by STS. Furthermore, STS depressed the intracellular generation of ROS, NADPH oxidase activity and subunit p47phox expression. In addition, N-acetylcysteine the ROS scavenger, depressed effects of Ang II in a manner similar to STS. In conclusion, the current studies demonstrate that anti-fibrotic effects of STS are mediated by interfering with the modulation of ROS.
