足三里에 施術한 旱蓮草 藥鍼의 免疫增進과 抗癌作用에 관한 硏究

To study the effects of anti-cancer, anti-metastasis and immune response improvement of herbal-acupuncture with Eclipta prostrata diffuse herba infusion solution(ELP-HAS), we injected ELP-HAS into Chok-samni(St36) of C57BL/6 mice implanted intravenously with B16-F10 melanoma. We have reached the following conclusion through the effect on the number of CD25^+/CD4^+, CD8^+/CD3e^+, CD69^+/B220^+, NK1.1^+/CD3e^+ cells in mouse PBMCs, the effect on the pulmonary colony number, and the effect on MST(Median Survival Time) and ILS(Increase of Life Span) of C57BL/6 mice implanted intravenously with B16-F10 melanoma. The results were obtained as follows: 1. In the experiment groups treated with ELP(Eclipta prostrata) Herbal-Acupuncture, the spleen cell proliferation in Balb/c mouse was significantly increased compared with control group. 2. In the experiment groups treated with ELP(Eclipta prostrata) Herbal-Acupuncture, the percentage of CD25^+/CD4^+, CD8^+/CD3e^+, CD69^+/B220^+, NK1.1^+/CD3e^+ cells in C57Bl/6 mouse PBMCs was increased compared with control group. 3. In the experiment groups treated with ELP(Eclipta prostrata) Herbal-Acupuncture, the pulmonary colony number of C57BL/ mice implanted intravenously with B16-F10 melanoma was decreased significantly compared with control group. 4. In the experiment groups treated with ELP(Eclipta prostrata)Herbal-Acupuncture, MST(Median Survival Time) and ILS(Increase of Life Span) of C57BL/6 mice implanted intravenously with B16-F10 melanoma were increased significantly compared with control group.

Objectives: To investigate the different effects of Sa-Am acupuncture with Spleen Jung-gyuck and Spleen Seung-gyuck on the radial pulse in healthy subjects. Methods: Sixty healthy volunteers (30 males and 30 females) participated in this study. The participants were randomly divided into three groups: control (C), Sa-Am acupuncture with Spleen Jung-gyuck (SP+) and Sa-Am acupuncture with Spleen Seung-gyuck (SP-). The radial pulse was measured using a multi-step tonometry system before, and 0, 30 and 60 minutes after acupuncture. Results: The heart rate adjusted radial augmentation index (RAI/HR) and high-tensioned pulse area (W area) significantly increased in the SP- group compared to the C and SP+ groups in males. The systolic pulse period (T4) increased significantly in the SP- group compared to the C and SP+ groups in females. The RAI/HR had positive correlations with W area and T4. Conclusion: The effects of Sa-Am acupuncture with Spleen Jung-gyuck and Spleen Seung-gyuck are different. Sa-Am acupuncture with Spleen Seung-gyuck induces acute increases of radial pulse parameters related to arterial stiffness in healthy subjects.
음곡(陰谷)(KI10)에 시술한 오가피(五加皮) 약침(藥鍼)이 난소적출 생쥐의 골다공증(骨多孔症)에 미치는 영향

Objective: The purpose of this study is to observe the effects of herbal-acupuncture with Acanthopanacis cortex extract (AC-HA) at KI10 (Eumgok) on osteoporosis in ovariectomized (OVX) ddy mice. Methods: We carried out several experimental items to analyze the changes in body weight, uterine weight, uterus index, tibial Length, the ash bone weight, tibial BMD, serum ALP, serum creatinine, serum osteocalcin, serum Ca, and the Levels of Ca, P, Ca/P ratio in tibia, and we performed histological and histomorphological analysis as well. Results: Tibial BMD was significantly decreased by OVX, while significantly increased by AC-HA at KI10. Serum creatinine Level was significantly increased by OVX, while significantly decreased by AC-HA at KI10. Serum osteocalcin Level was significantly increased by OVX, while significantly decreased by AC-HA at KI10. Tibial TBV(trabecular bone volume) was significantly decreased by OVX, while significantly increased by AC-HA at KI10. AC-HA at KI10 significantly suppressed the OVX-induced increase of GPL(growth plate Length) of tibia in mice. Conclusion : These results suggest that AC-HA at KI10 has a therapeutic effect on osteoporosis in OVX mice.

Objective: This report is written to inform of the 3rd WHO Informal Consultation on Development of International Standard Acupuncture Points Locations, held in Kyoto, Japan, on October 12-14, 2004. Results: Eight experts from China, Japan and Korea, participated in this meeting, discussed the Locations and the point finding methods of 92 controversial points based on the fundamental principles established through the 1st and 2nd meetings. Through the discussion in this meeting, agreements were made on most of 92 controversial points, but 8 points(LI12, ST31, PC8, PC9, TE18, LR8, GV1, GV26) still need to be researched in the next meetings. Conclusion: A reasonable and practical International Standard of Acupuncture Point Location for acupuncture education, research and practice is expected to be accomplished in the near future.
위정격(胃正格) 및 비정격(脾正格) 자침이 맥파에 미치는 영향 비교 연구

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to find parameters to compare the effects of Sa-Am acupuncture with stomach-tonification (ST) and Sa-Am acupuncture with spleen-tonification (SP) on radial pulse. Methods : Forty healthy subjects participated in this study. Radial pulse was measured using 3 dimensional pulse imaging system (DMP-3000) before, right after, 30 minutes after, and 60 minutes after acupuncture. Results : 1. The parameters analysed in this study were changed in the same direction with different degrees by ST and SP. 2. In males, SP manipulation showed significantly increased pulse period and (T-T4)/T, and significantly decreased T1/T, T4/T, T4/(T-T4), and F1 F3 frequencies compared to ST. 3. In females, ST manipulation showed significantly increased (T-T4)/T, and significantly decreased F1~F3 frequencies compared to SP. Conclusions : The parameters analysed in this study may be used to differentiate the effects between ST and SP on radial pulse. These parameters are more strongly affected by SP than ST in males whereas more strongly affected by ST than SP in females.
음곡(KI10) 편축 약침의 LPS 유도 급성신장염 억제 효과

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Polygoni avicularis Herba Herbal-acupuncture(PaH-HA) at KI10(Umgok) on nephritis induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS) in rats. Methods: Rats were allocated into normal, control, and 3 experimental groups. The rats in the control group were intra-peritoneally injected with LPS for nephritis induction. The rats in the groups of experiment 1, experiment 2, and experiment 3 were treated with single needle prick, saline injection, and PaH-HA, respectively at KI10 three times for a week and then injected with LPS. To evaluate the effects of PaH-HA at HI10, WBC count in blood, serum CINC-1, renal TNF-α and renal MPO were measured. Results: Needle prick at KI10 suppressed the increase of WBC in blood and CINC-1 in serum of LPS-stimulated rats. Saline injection at KI10 suppressed the increase of WBC in blood. PaH-HA at KI10 suppressed the increase of WBC in blood, CINC-1 in serum, and MPO in kidney of LPS-stimulated rats. Conclusions: PaH-HA at KI10 has an anti-inflammatory effect on LPS-induced nephritis in rats and there may be a synergism between KI10(Umgok) stimulation and PaH-HA Solution.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of food intake on radial pulse amplitude. Methods: Thirty one healthy male subjects participated in this study. Radial pulse was measured using 3 dimensional pulse imaging system (DMP-3000) before, right after, 40 minutes after, 80 minutes after and 120 minutes after food intake. Results: 1. The amplitude of h1 increased significantly right after food intake compared to ``before food intake`` at all 6 measuring points. Later on, it decreased back as time passed, however, even 120 minutes later, it was still higher than ``before food intake`` 2. Pulse energy, which is calculated from pulse waves acquired with five sensors, increased after food intake as well. Conclusions: Food intake exerts an influence on radial pulse amplitude, resulting in increase of h1 and pulse energy.
CCl4로 유발된 흰쥐 간손상에 대한 삼황혈(三黃穴) 수기침자극(手技鍼刺戟)의 간기능 보호효과

Objectives: To investigate the hepatoprotective effect of manual acupuncture at Sam-hwang points on hepatotoxicity in CCl4-intoxicated rats. Methods: Rats were injected intraperitoneally with CCl4(1㎖/kg) and treated with manual acupunctrue at left Sam-hwang points 3 times a week for 10 weeks. A non-acupoint in left Gluteal area was selected as a sham point. Acupuncture was performed by an experienced acupuncture doctor using tonifying manipulation technique. To estimate the effects on hepatotoxicity, body weight and liver weight of rats were measured, and biochemical assays(ALT, AST, ALP, Total cholesterol, etc.) and blood cell analysis were performed. Results: Manual acupuncture with tonifying technique at Sam-hwang points reduced liver weight, ALT, AST, ALP activities and total cholesterol in serum significantly compared with control group. In blood cell analysis, WBC and lymphocytes were reduced but neutrophil was increased by manual acupuncture at Sam-hwang points in rats. Conclusions: Manual acupuncture with tonifying technique at Sam-hwang points has an hepatoprotective effect on CCl4-induced liver damage in rats.

Raynaud's phenomenon of occupational origin known in the 1950s as "the vibration syndrome" or "vibration induced white finger(VWF)" has, in the 1980s, been renamed "the hand-arm vibration syndrome". A medical interview is generally accepted for diagnosing Raynaud's phenomenon in workers exposed to hand-arm vibration. From the clinical and medicolegal points of view, however, objective diagnostic tests are needed. So we report a case of Raynaud's phenomenon in worker exposed to hand arm vibration diagnosed objectively by digital skin temperature and plethysmography.
