        Sulfonated multi-walled carbon nanotubes for the removal of copper (II) from aqueous solutions

        Sulfonated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (s-MWCNTs) was prepared from purified multi-walled carbon nanotubes (p-MWCNTs) by concentrated H2SO4 at elevated temperature. The structure was characterized by SEM, FTIR, Raman, XPS, and BET. It could be dispersed steadily in water at a dosage of 1.0 mg/mL for a week. The adsorption performance of s-MWCNTs toward Cu(II) was investigated including the effects of pH and ionic strength. Results indicated the adsorption was much dependent on pH but not on ionic strength. The adsorption capacity for Cu(II) was enhanced 58.9% via the sulfonation. Moreover, the adsorption mechanisms were carefully analyzed by Freundlich and D-R models.

        Acetalization of glycerol over sulfated UiO-66 under mild condition

        Sulfated metal–organic framework has attracted much attention as a versatile heterogeneous acid for itsstrong acid strength, large surface area and regular pore channels. In this work, sulfated UiO-66 (UiOSO3H-x) was prepared via the direct oxidation of 2-mercaptobenzoic acid substituted UiO-66. The structureand property of the synthesized UiO-SO3H-x were characterized via XRD, FTIR, static water contactangles, XPS, TG-DTA, N2 adsorption–desorption, SEM and TEM in detail. It was found that sulfonic acidgroups dispersed homogenously in the framework of UiO-SO3H-x. And UiO-SO3H-0.2 exhibited excellentperformance and stability for the synthesis of solketal from surplus glycerol among the tested solid acids(H3PW12O40, Amberlyst-45, HY, HBEA, HZSM-5 and ZrHP). The detected conversion of glycerol reached70.3% with a 99.8% selectivity toward solketal at 60 C, and it could maintain its initial activity in fiverecycles. The highest TOF of each acid site in UiO-SO3H-0.2 reached 676.0 h1. Moreover, it was versatilefor the acetalization of glycerol with other ketones/aldehydes.

        FAM46B inhibits cell proliferation and cell cycle progression in prostate cancer through ubiquitination of β-catenin

        FAM46B is a member of the family with sequence similarity 46. Little is known about the expression and functional role (s) of FAM46B in prostate cancer (PC). In this study, the expression of FAM46B expression in The Cancer Genome Atlas, GSE55945, and an independent hospital database was measured by bioinformatics and real-time PCR analysis. After PC cells were transfected with siRNA or a recombinant vector in the absence or presence of a β-catenin signaling inhibitor (XAV-939), the expression levels of FAM46B, C-myc, Cyclin D1, and β-catenin were measured by western blot and realtime PCR. Cell cycle progression and cell proliferation were measured by flow cytometry and the CCK-8 assay. The effects of FAM46B on tumor growth and protein expression in nude mice with PC tumor xenografts were also measured. Our results showed that FAM46B was downregulated but that β-catenin was upregulated in patients with PC. FAM46B silencing promoted cell proliferation and cell cycle progression in PC, which were abrogated by XAV-939. Moreover, FAM46B overexpression inhibited PC cell cycle progression and cell proliferation in vitro and tumor growth in vivo. FAM46B silencing promoted β-catenin protein expression through the inhibition of β-catenin ubiquitination. Our data clearly show that FAM46B inhibits cell proliferation and cell cycle progression in PC through ubiquitination of β-catenin.

        Nanoarchitectonics of tannic acid based injectable hydrogel regulate the microglial phenotype to enhance neuroplasticity for poststroke rehabilitation

        Background Stroke is the second leading cause of mortality and disability worldwide. Poststroke rehabilitation is still unsatisfactory in clinics, which brings great pain and economic burdens to stroke patients. In this study, an injectable hydrogel in which tannic acid (TA) acts as not only a building block but also a therapeutic drug, was developed for poststroke rehabilitation. Methods TA is used as a building block to form an injectable hydrogel (TA gel) with carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) by multivalent hydrogen bonds. The morphology, rheological properties, and TA release behavior of the hydrogel were characterized. The abilities of the TA gel to modulate microglial (BV2 cells) polarization and subsequently enhance the neuroplasticity of neuro cells (N2a cells) were assessed in vitro. The TA gel was injected into the cavity of stroke mice to evaluate motor function recovery, microglial polarization, and neuroplasticity in vivo. The molecular pathway through which TA modulates microglial polarization was also explored both in vitro and in vivo. Results The TA gel exhibited sustainable release behavior of TA. The TA gel can suppress the expression of CD16 and IL-1β, and upregulate the expression of CD206 and TGF-β in oxygen and glucose-deprived (OGD) BV2 cells, indicating the regulation of OGD BV2 cells to an anti-inflammatory phenotype in vitro. This finding further shows that the decrease in synaptophysin and PSD95 in OGD N2a cells is effectively recovered by anti-inflammatory BV2 cells. Furthermore, the TA gel decreased CD16/iNOS expression and increased CD206 expression in the periinfarct area of stroke mice, implying anti-inflammatory polarization of microglia in vivo. The colocalization of PSD95 and Vglut1 stains, as well as Golgi staining, showed the enhancement of neuroplasticity by the TA gel. Spontaneously, the TA gel successfully recovered the motor function of stroke mice. The western blot results in vitro and in vivo suggested that the TA gel regulated microglial polarization via the NF-κB pathway. Conclusion The TA gel serves as an effective brain injectable implant to treat stroke and shows promising potential to promote poststroke rehabilitation in the clinic.

        Peroxopolyoxotungsten-based Ionic Hybrid as a Highly Efficient Recyclable Catalyst for Epoxidation of Vegetable oil with H2O2

        A peroxopolyoxotungsten-based ionic hybrid was synthesized by anion-change of peroxopolyoxometalate (POM) PW4O24 3− with dicationic long-chain alkyl imidazolium ionic liquids. The characterization was conducted by FT-IR, TGA, 1H-NMR and CHN Elemental analyses. Its catalytic performance was evaluated by the epoxidation of soybean oil with H2O2 under solvent-free condition, including testing of organic cations influence, catalytic reusability and reaction conditions. The catalyst was proved to be a highly efficient recyclable catalyst for epoxidation of various vegetable oils with H2O2, showing high H2O2 utilization efficiency, high catalytic activity, convenient recovery and good reuse ability.

        Grid Scheduling Strategy Considering Electric Vehicles Participating in Multi-microgrid Interaction

        With the expansion of the scale of power grid and the increase of the number of microgrids, the energy interaction between microgrids using contact lines will greatly increase the computation of the superior dispatching center. Therefore, the contact lines between microgrids are cancelled, so that the microgrids can realize energy interaction through the distribution network. However, this method may lead to overload of distribution network connections while reducing the computation. Due to its good transfer characteristics, the addition of electric vehicles (EVs) can alleviate the contact line pressure and realize the load transfer of microgrids. On this basis, a grid dispatching model based on the participation of EVs in microgrid interaction is proposed. Contact lines between microgrids are replaced by EVs and 100% transmission through the distribution network. The grid load is optimized with the goal of minimizing total cost, maximizing renewable energy utilization, and maximizing profit of each integrator. In the process of model optimization, aiming at the problem that the speed factor in the particle swarm optimization algorithm cannot take into account the optimal direction and the optimal step size, the adaptive time factor is added to establish a two-layer improved particle swarm optimization algorithm, which realizes the cooperative optimization of load and electricity price. The simulation results show that the total cost and underutilization of renewable energy of IEEE33-node system are reduced by 13.79% and 67.85%, compared with the traditional interaction mode, while they are reduced by 0.425% and 6.11% in IEEE43-node system.
