<P>This study intends to improve the efficiency of the composite beam combining a slab made of steel fiber-reinforced ultrahigh performance concrete (UHPC) and a steel girder without top flange. To that goal, the experiment is conducted on 24 composite beams fabricated with varying compressive strength of UHPC, steel fiber content, stud spacing, and slab thickness to evaluate the behavior of the studs and the flexural behavior of the composite beam combining the UHPC slab and the inverted-T steel girder. The experimental results show the test members developed sufficient ductile behavior with respect to the slip limit of 6 mm stipulated in Eurocode-4 and regardless of the considered test variables. The experimental ultimate horizontal shear force is seen to be clearly larger than the static strengths of the stud predicted by Eurocode-4 and AASHTO-LRFD. Improved design formulae for the composite beam shall be derived to reflect the UHPC slab thickness.</P>

Larvae black soldier fly, Hermetia illucens, is beneficial because its larvae feed on organic materials derived from plants, animals and humans and promote the recycling of food waste and organic materials. Chymotrypsin serine protease is one of the main digestive proteases in the midgut of and is involved in various essential processes. In a previous study, a gene encoding a chymotrypsin-like protease, Hi-SP1, was cloned from the larvae of Hermetia illucens and characterized. The objective of this study was to compare the digestive enzyme activity with various enzymes such as papain, protease and α-chymotrypsin. And also, we investigated the antimicrobial activity of the Hi-SP1 against the spoilage relate bacteria. The growth of the bacteria was inhibited in nutrient broth containing the Hi-SP1.

<P>This paper presents a compact resistor-based CMOS temperature sensor intended for dense thermal monitoring. It is based on an <TEX>$RC$</TEX> poly-phase filter (PPF), whose temperature-dependent phase shift is read out by a frequency-locked loop (FLL). The PPF’s phase shift is determined by a zero-crossing (ZC) detector, allowing the rest of the FLL to be realized in an area-efficient manner. Implemented in a 65-nm CMOS technology, the sensor occupies only 7000 <TEX>$\mu \text{m}~^{\mathrm{ 2}}$</TEX>. It can operate from supply voltages as low as 0.85 V and consumes 68 <TEX>$\mu \text{W}$</TEX>. A sensor based on a PPF made from silicided p-poly resistors and metal–insulator–metal (MIM) capacitors achieves an inaccuracy of ±0.12 °C (3 <TEX>$\sigma $</TEX>) from −40 °Cto 85 °C and a resolution of 2.5 mK (rms) in a 1-ms conversion time. This corresponds to a resolution figure-of-merit (FoM) of 0.43 pJ <TEX>$\cdot \text{K}~^{\mathrm{ 2}}$</TEX>.</P>
Two to Five Channel Audio Processing based on Center Channel Extraction Algorithm

In this paper we propose an algorithm of converting two channel audio materials to five channel. An effective sound distribution to the surround channel is based on the computation of cross correlation and a non linear mapping function. An algorithm of extracting center channel using center channel estimator is proposed. A robust stereo image is obtained using center channel extraction algorithm. Informal listening tests comparing this scheme with other methods showed that proposed algorithm offer better performance than previous up-mix strategies.
