<P>This paper introduces a novel analytical model for analyzing the performance of handoff algorithms based on absolute and relative signal strength measurements. The performance is analyzed in multicell and multisector environments where cochannel interference (CCI) is present. The model presented in this paper accounts for the distinct features of intersector handoff compared with intercell handoff. Numerical results show that the performance metrics are affected by the CCI level. The occurrence condition of unnecessary handoffs in multisector systems is also presented.</P>

<P>We propose a new channel-estimation method in a multicarrier-code division multiple access system with chip interleaving. This new method works with code-multiplexed pilot channels and data-dependent pilot symbols, where the reliability of the estimated channel gain is increased by the noise averaging effect. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed method is comparable to the minimum mean-square error estimation method with less computation complexity</P>

한국어 학습자들은 한국어 모어 화자와는 달리 한국어에 대한 직관이 없다. 따라서 교실에서 어떤 표현의 쓰임에 대해 일부분만 학습하였을 때 문제가 발생한다. 한국어의 문형 ‘아/어 보다’는 한국어 학습 교실에서는 배울 수 없는 다른 의미들을 가지고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 ‘아/어 보다’의 다양한 의미기능에 대해 시제와 담화적 차원에서 분석하였다. 우선 ‘아/어 보다’의 담화기능을 경험뿐만이 아니라 시행, 가정, 완곡의 4개로 정리하였다. 그리고 이를 두 가지 기준으로 나누어 분석하였다. 시제를 기준으로 분석하였을 때, 경험과 시행을 나누는 것은 보조용언 ‘보다’의 시제라는 것을 밝혔다. 그리고 화자와 청자와의 관계로 분석하였을 때, 서로간의 관계를 상하지 않게 하기 위해서 완곡의 기능을 수행함을 밝혔다. 본 연구는 ‘아/어 보다’의 분석에 있어 기존의 연구에서와는 달리 문형으로 접근하지 않고 새로운 기준을 제시하였다는 의미가 있다. 다만 예문이 한정되어 보다 많은 사례에 대한 보완이 이루어져야 할 것이다. Korean learners do not have an intuition about Korean language, unlike Korean language learners. Therefore, problems arise when we only learn a part of the use of a certain expression in the classroom. The sentence pattern of Korean ‘a/eo boda’ has other meanings that can not be learned in the Korean language learning class. In this study, analyzed various meaning functions of ‘a/eo boda’ in terms of tense and discourse. In this study, we analyzed the various semantic functions of ’a/eo boda’ in a discourse dimension. ‘a/eo boda’ is not only experience, but also fulfill the function of enforcement, assumption, euphemism. It was divided into two criteria. When analyzed by tense, it was revealed that experience and enforcement is divided by tense. And when analyzed by the relationship between the speaker and the listener, they showed that they perform the function of euphonium so as not to damage the relationship between them. This study implies that, in contrast to the previous study, is not approaching the sentence type and presented a new standard. However, examples are limited and more cases should be supplemented.

새로운 IT 기술과 디지털 기기는 빠른 속도로 발달하며 업무 환경 및 일상생활을 비롯한 사회적 환경을 변화시키고 있다. 이러한 변화에 대해 기존의 고령자와는 달리 액티브 시니어들은 적극적으로 적응해가고 있지만 오랜 시간동안 컴퓨터를 사용하는 이들의 눈 건강에 대한 연구는 많지 않다. 본 연구에서는 청년집단과 액티브 시니어를 대상으로 컴퓨터 작업으로 인한 시각 피로도에서 차이가 있는지를 알아보고 그 결과를 바탕으로 시니어에게 적절한 컴퓨터 작업 시간에 대한 가이드라인을 제공하고자 하였다. 객관적 시각 피로도는 눈 깜박임 횟수, 눈을 깜박이지 않고 참을 수 있는 시간, 안구표면 온도를 측정하였고 주관적 눈 피로도는 설문지를 이용하였다. 실험 결과, 눈 깜박임 횟수, 안구 표면 온도, 주관적 눈 피로도는 실험전과 후에 유의한 변화를 보였다. 집단 간 차이는 모든 측정치에서 관찰되지 않았고 따라서 30여분의 컴퓨터 작업 시간은 시니어에게 적절한 것으로 판단된다. This study aimed to examine whether there was difference on visual fatigue between active seniors and young people, and to provide a guideline for appropriate computer use time for seniors. Blinking rate, maximal blinking interval, temperature of the ocular surface, visual fatigue questionnare were evaluated. The blinking rate, ocular surface temperature, visual fatigue showed significant change before and after the tasks. There was no difference between the two groups and thus, about 30-minute computer work appeared to be appropriate for seniors.
Lateral Femoral Bowing and the Location of Atypical Femoral Fractures

Purpose: Atypical femoral fractures (AFFs) occur in two distinct part, subtrochanter and diaphysis. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the lateral femoral bowing angle and the location of AFF. Materials and Methods: This study included a total of 56 cases in 45 patients who underwent surgical treatment between January 2010 and December 2015. For the diaphyseal and subtrochanteric AFFs, we evaluated the relationship between the anatomic location and lateral femoral bowing angle. Lateral femoral bowing angle was measured by two orthopaedic surgeons and average value of two calibrators was used in statistic analysis. Other variables like age, height, weight, body mass index and bone mineral density were also evaluated. We also calculated the cutoff value for the location of the fractures from the raw data. Results: The average lateral femoral bowing angle was 10.10°±3.79°(3°-19°) in diaphyseal group and 3.33°± 2.45 °(1.5°-11°) in subtrochanter group. Lateral femoral bowing angle was statistically significant in logistic regression analysis. According to the receiver operating characteristic curve, cutoff value for the location of the fracture was 5.25°. In other words, the femoral diaphyseal fractures are more frequent if the lateral femoral bowing angle is greater than 5.25° Conclusion: The lateral femoral bowing angle is associated with the location of the AFFs and the cutoff value of lateral femoral bowing angle was 5.25°.
Robust Nonlinear Control of a 6 DOF Parallel Manipulator:Task Space Approach

This paper presents a robust nonlinear controller for a 6 degree of freedom (DOF) parallel manipulator in the task space coordinates. The proposed control strategy requires information on orientations and translations in the task space unlike the joint space or link space control scheme. Although a 6 DOF sensor may provide such information in a straightforward manner, its cost calls for a more economical alternative. A novel indirect method based on the readily available length information engages as a potential candidate to replace a 6 DOF sensor. The indirect approach generates the necessary information by solving the forward kinematics and subsequently applying alpha-beta-gamma tracker. With the 6 DOF signals available, a robust nonlinear task space control (RNTC) scheme is proposed based on the Lyapunov redesign method, whose stability is rigorously proved. The performance of the proposed RNTC with the new estimation scheme is evaluated via experiments. First, the results of the estimator are compared with the rate-gyro signals, which indicates excellent agreement. Then, the RNTC with on-line estimated 6 DOF data is shown to achieve excellent control performance to sinusoidal inputs, which is superior to those of a commonly used proportional-plus-integral-plus-derivative controller with a feedforward friction compensation under joint space coordinates and the nonlinear controller under task space coordinates.<br/>
