Miniature inverted-repeat transposable elements (MITEs) are class II, non-autonomous DNA transposons that occupy a large portion of the genome, most in an inactive state. Because transposition of MITEs can have a broad impact on the structure and function of the genome, it is important to identify activated MITEs and analyze their propensity for transposition. However, to date the activity of only a few MITEs has been analyzed. In this study, MITE activation during the transformation processes in Chinese cabbage was analyzed by using next-generation sequencing. Using genome wide analysis, we found PTE-1 was activated during the transformation process. The active transposition of PTE-1 was analyzed by PCR amplification. We determined the sequence of PTE-1 by cloning the PCR products. Based on its target site duplications sequence and terminal inverted repeats structure, we inferred that the element belongs to the Tourist family. The characteristics of PTE-1, including structure and copy number, were identified by bioinformatics approaches. The results suggest that PTE-1 activation could be induced by the transformation process and reveal the first detection of activated MITE in tissue culture derived from Brassica rapa plants.

In order to use heavy metals in water for detection, a film using ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) nanoparticles was produced, and a chemoresistive sensor was produced using it to confirm the metal ion detection performance. The ITO film was produced by mixing nanoparticles and organic binders to produce paste and printing it on a PET substrate. The sensor was manufactured by forming Ag electrodes on both ends of the manufactured film, and the detection characteristics of the sensor were confirmed using five (Mn, Zn, Se, Sn, Ni) metal ion aqueous solutions. It was verified that the sensor resistance linearly increased according to the increase in the concentration of the metal ion, and that the concentration and resistance change linearly. The sensor’s performance was evaluated using the sensor’s response (ΔR), limit of detection, response time, linearity, error, and detection range.

지금까지의 가상실험실은 PC가 있는 장소에서 학습자가 실험을 할 수 있었지만 스마트폰이 빠른 속도로 보급됨에 따라 PC가 없어도 언제 어디서나 실험을 할 수 있는 가상실험실의 필요하게 되어 스마트폰 사용자를 위한 가상실험실을 제안하고 구현하였다. There have been large number of trials of engineering experiment education using virtual laboratories implemented in virtual space, namely on the Web. In virtual education systematic and interactive contents containing multimedia elements are provided to learners. Learners can learn a virtual laboratory using an internet based PC. But it can’t be used under the moving. In order to use virtual laboratoty at anywhere and anytime, we proposed and implemented a virtual laboratory on electrical engineering for smart phone users.

웹을 기반으로 하는 협동학습은 시.공간을 초월하여 대화와 토론활동을 통한 학습이 가능하고, 학습자들은 협동학습에 균등하게 참여할 수 있는 기회를 보장한다. 본 연구에서 제안한 웹기반 협동학습시스템은 채팅창을 통해 학습자들 간의 토론활동을 통해 문제해결방법을 터득하고 이를 C언어로 코드화하여 실행결과를 얻게되는 시스템으로 채팅창과 코드창을 공유한 협동학습시스템이다. A web-based collaborative learning helps learner learn problem solving under the conversation and debate at any time, any where. It supports opportunity which learner can join in learning equally. In the paper we proposed a web-based collaborative learning system with chatting window. Thus learner can learn c programming language with others and they can confirm the execution result of their program. in the system. The proposed system makes a feature of sharing with chatting and code window.

웹을 기반으로 하는 학습시스템은 시.공간을 초월하여 학습환경을 제공하므로 인터넷이 연결된 어떤 곳에서나 학습할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 서버측 언어인 PHP를 학습할 수 있는 웹 기반 학습 시스템을 구현하였다. Web based learning system supplies a learning environment at any time, any where. Therefore students can learn a lot from the web for themselves at anyplace where internet connected. In this paper, the web based learning system is implemented to learn PHP which is a server side language.

Excessive breakdown of extracellular matrix by metalloproteinases (MMPs) occurs in many pathological conditions. Consequently, methods for inhibiting MMP activity have therapeutic potential. In this study, we investigated the effect of G-120, a 120 kDa glycoprotein purified from the Oriental herbal plant, Ulmus davidiana Nakai (UDN), on the activity and production of several MMPs by evaluating its growth inhibitory effect on NIH 3T3 cells. Tritium uptake assays showed that proliferation of NIH 3T3 cells was strongly suppressed, and G-120-mediated inhibition of DNA synthesis proved to involve a cytostatic, rather than a cytotoxic, effect, as shown by cytotoxicity and apoptosis assays. More importantly, G-120 strongly reduced the gelatinolytic and collagenase activities of MMP proteins, as well as expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9. Electrophoretic mobility shift assays revealed that it suppressed the DNA binding activity of NF-κB. Collectively, our observations show that G-120 strongly inhibits the activation of MMPs and NF-κB.
