<P>The heterodimeric sweet taste receptors, T1R2 and T1R3, have recently been proposed to be associated with the brain glucose sensor. To identify whether sweet taste signaling is regulated in response to an ischemic injury inducing acute impairment of glucose metabolism, we investigated the spatiotemporal expression of the sweet taste receptors and their associated taste-specific G-protein α-gustducin in the rat hippocampus after ischemia. The expression profiles of both receptor subunits and α-gustducin shared overlapping expression patterns in sham-operated and ischemic hippocampi. Constitutive expression of both receptors and α-gustducin was localized in neurons of the pyramidal cell and granule cell layers, but their upregulation was detected in reactive astrocytes in ischemic hippocampi. Immunoblot analysis confirmed the immmunohistochemically determined temporal patterns of sweet-taste signaling proteins. These results suggest that the expression of sweet taste signaling proteins in astrocytes might be regulated in response to altered extracellular levels of glucose following an ischemic insult.</P>

The present study examined multicultural family children’s articulation accuracy and phonological process using Assessment of Phonology and Articulation for Children(APAC), and compared them with normally developing children. The subjects of this study were 24 multicultural family children between ages 3 years, 6 months and 3 years, 11 months. The multicultural family children’s articulation accuracy was significantly lower than the normally developing children's. In case of the normally developing children, phonological processes the multicultural family children showed were observed at a younger age and did not appear at the age of the children participating in this study. The Japanese multicultural family children and the non?Japanese multicultural family children showed different rate of the changes. This result shows that articulation development in the multicultural family children may be different among them according to the classification and that the children’s error patterns are related to their mothers’ native language. The results of this study are proposed to be applicable to articulation assessment and treatment.

본 논문은 조영제를 사용하지 않은 정상인의 신장의 추출에 관한 연구로서 복부 CT 영상의 특성을 파악하고 신장부분을 분석함으로써 신장의 자동적인 추출을 시행하였다. 처리과정에서 기준값에 의한 이진영상에서 각 장기의 서로 다른 화소분포의 특징을 이용하여 장기추출을 시행하였고 템플리트를 이용한 서브트랙션과 채우기 과정을 거쳐 단일 슬라이스에서 신장을 추출한 후 추출된 신장영상의 슬라이스들을 겹친 영상을 생성하여 단일 슬라이스 내에서 제거되지 못한 노이즈들을 제거하였다.

Human papillomavirus type 16 and 18 encode two major transforming proteins E6 and E7. Recombinant E6 protein for human papillomavirus type 18(HPV 18) E6 gene was expressed in E. coli in large quantity as authentic size, non fused form of protein. However, the protein was produced in inclusion bodies. Therefore this bacterially produced E6 protein was solublized in SDS solution and purified to the homogeneity by gel filtration column chromatographies using Sephacryl S-200 column. The yield of purified 18 E6 recombinant protein was approximately 30 ㎎/ℓ liter culture. This purified recombinant 18E6 protein was used to determine the presence of antibodies that might have been produced against HPV 18 infections in the human sera. We tested and compared sera obtained from both cervical cancer patients and people having no apparent cervical cancers. These were accomplished using Western blot. Antibodies reactive to recombinant HPV 18E6 protein were frequently detected in cases with cervical carcinoma(14 out of 20, 70%), compared to people with no apparent carcinoma(4 out of 9, 44%).

본 논문은 맘모그램(유방 X선 사진)에서 종양의 추출에 관한 연구로서, 맘모그램의 특성을 파악하여 종양의 자동적인 추출을 시행하였다. 처리과정에서 맘모그램의 texture를 분석하여 shake 영상을 생성하였고, 8-연결성 관계에 있는 화소들의 평균값을 이용하여 블러링 영상을 생성, 두 종류의 영상을 사용하여 후보를 추출하여 일반적 종양의 특성과 일치하는 후보를 종양으로 선택하였다. 추출된 종양의 원형성 비율을 계산하고, spiculation 부분의 특징을 파악하여 추출된 종양을 분석하였다.

The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of diabetic camp program on depression, self-efficacy and self-esteem of the juvenile diabetic patient who had participated with diabetic camp program at Seoul and Kyung In area from August 5 to August 9, 1995. Nursing staffs explained them how to respond to the questionnaire of depression, self-efficacy and self-esteem prior to beginning the program and following the program. The questionnaire of depression, self-efficacy and self-esteem was developed by both diabetes mellitus nurse specialist and pediatric nursing professors in reference with the previous research. Response items of the questions were structured as yes or no for the elementary school students and that of the questions were structured as 5 likert scale for the both middle and high school students. Paired t-test was used for the significance of the difference between values before and after the dia betic camp program. Depression decreased following the program, while self-esteem increased significantly following the program in elementary school students. There was no change in self-esteem, while self-efficacy increased significantly following the program in noddle and high school students. Self-efficacy following the program was high as the frequency of exercise increased In the elementary school students. Self-efficacy prior to the program was high as the experience of diabetic education increased in the middle and high school students. Self-efficacy and self-esteem prior to the camp was highly correlated with that following the camp in middle and high school students. The result suggests that diabetic camp program could be one of ways to decrease depression and to increase self-efficacy of the diabetic children.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We prepared conjugated polymer nano-ellipsoids (CPNs) via emulsification of chloroform phase using the octanoic acid (OA) in dimethyl formamide (DMF), followed by the removal of chloroform by heating. The resulting CPN DMF solutions were thoroughly mixed with polyurethane (PU) DMF solutions to form composite films upon solvent removal, with uniformly distributed CPNs due to hydrogen bonds between PU matrix and the CPNs.
