1.Paddy fields of Korea have a particularity different from the European countries that drain the excess soil water from the shallow surface soil layer 2.The facing problems on the planning and designing of sub-surface drainage are determining the spacing of main sub-surface drainage system, combination design of main & auxiliary sub-surface drainage system and the structure of sub-surface drainage ditch 3.When the spacing of main sub-surface drainage system is calculated as few meters, it is desirable to combine with the auxiliary sub-surface drainage system 4.The structure of sub-surface drainage ditch consist of drainage pipe and filling materials such as rice bran and pebbles. The width of sub-surface drainage ditch is 2Ocm in case of tren-cher operation and 3Ocm in case of back hoe excavation. The advisable depth of sub-surface drainage ditch is below 5Ocm.

To make a smooth progress in the multi-utilization undertaking of paddy land, land consolidation is the most important task among the various countermeasures. This study discusses the types and efficiency of subsurface drainage systems, and suggestes their maintenance and management schemes. The results are summarized as follows: 1) Recently an introduction of subsurface drainage systems has been employed. Especially the necessity of subsurface drainage systems has been widely recognized at farms in the suburban districts, however, the undertaking itself cannot overcome an experimental stage. Therefore, studies on the selection of project areas and operation systems should be executed together with the technical establishment. 2) To drive forward the land improvement project reasonably and efficiently, the realities of regional farmings and the natural conditions should be considered, so it is desirable to establish a longterm land improvement plan based on the nation-wide angle of view. 3) To create the multi-utilization paddy land from the single cropping paddy land, the following items should be consolidated. First, reorganize the utilization pattern of paddy land possible to adopt multi-utilization system. Second, land should be consolidated as a large size possible to operate big agricultural machines. Third, develop fundamental techniques for the multi-utilization system. Fourth, collectivization of agricultural land. Fifth, environmental consolidation of the rural community. 4) The maintenance and management technique of the subsurface drainage system should be studied. Since the function of system could be lost by the clog up of drainage pipe, the efficiency and function of system should be recognized for the smooth maintenance and management.

In 2000 FFIA. FIA. RDC are united into new corporation. This corporation will manage rural water with TM/TC(Tele-Monitoring/Tele-Control) system. Most systems which were adopted in TM/TC system were Closed Control System which use exclusive network and protocol. Closed Control System can not support new corporation's requirement in water management system. Therefore, new corporation should adopt Open Control System as standard rural water management system. Open Control System support Fieldbus technology, TCP/IP, various protocols, programming model, OPC which is essential to the water management program, and so on.

Alport syndrome (AS) is one of the most common familial nephropathy characterized by microscopic hematuria with or without proteinuria, irregular thickening or thinning of the glomerular basement membrane, progressive bilateral sensorineural hearing loss and ocular changes including anterior lenticonus and retinal flecks. AS with diffuse leiomyomatosis (ASDL) is defined by the association of AS with esophageal, tracheobronchial, and genital leiomyomatosis. Since the first case of ASDL was reported in 1983, a number of cases have been reported in the western countries. ASDL has a X-linked dominant trait with different penetrance and expressivity between female and male. We experienced an ASDL who is the first case in Korea. A 13-year-old boy was diagnosed as AS by microscopic hematuria, sensorineural hearing loss and congenital cataract. And also he had suffered from achalasia symptoms such as severe dysphagia and frequent vomiting due to diffuse esophageal leiomyomatosis. The lesion was confirmed by total esophagectomy and pathologic findings.
