        Research on outlier detection algorithm for express logistics

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>To detect the problems of time delay, path error and destination error in express logistics process effectively, a novel outlier detection algorithm for express logistics is proposed in this paper. To test the detection results, the express logistics system operating model is built to test the detection results. Experiment results show that the proposed algorithm is well applied to the express logistics data with multi-attribute characteristics, and can work well in detecting the abnormal conditions of express logistics.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> According to the characteristics and operation principle of joint distribution mode, constructing a virtual simulation system of the logistics operation model and simulating the operation process of the entire logistics activities of logistics orders from generation to the terminal distribution in joint distribution. </LI> <LI> To establish extraction method of the logistics distribution data feature based on the time, number, level, position coordinates and the urban point dependent relation, the method of describing the distribution characteristics accurately and effectively. </LI> <LI> According to the characteristics of joint distribution, put forward a kind of abnormal state detection and evaluation algorithm of logistics distribution, and identify the abnormal distribution of common delivery delay in delivery time, delivery path error, destination error (not the destination) and accurately in joint distribution. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Modeling of Public Risk Perception and Risk Communication Research: In A Social-Cognitive Direction

        This study begins with a review of commonly discussed dimensions of public risk perception that may influence public opinion toward risks. Factors that have been revealed by the literature to have substantial impact on risk perception, such as demographic background, trust, and media environment, are also discussed. Meanwhile, we evaluate two well-known research models in the realm of risk analysis: 1) the psychometric paradigm, and 2) the social amplification of risk framework (SARF). Based on a literature review, this study suggests that, besides the psychological and social approach, models of risk perception and risk communication research should shift to a more comprehensive one by considering the interrelations between laypeople and the environment. This study proposes a research model from the perspective of social cognitive theory (SCT) as a potential framework for future studies: 1) in the societal environment, individuals' risk perception and information seeking behavior, which is determined by risk perception will be influenced by trust in regulators and interpersonal trust; 2) in the media environment, individuals' risk perception and information seeking behavior will be influenced by individuals' perceived information characteristics. Knowledge about risk accumulated through information seeking will change risk perception in a longitudinal process.

        Lowest Instrumented Vertebra at L3 Versus L4 in Posterior Fusion for Moderate Lenke 5C Type Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis: A Case-Match Radiological Study

        Objective: To compare the radiological outcomes in Lenke 5C type patients whose lowest instrumented vertebra (LIV) was L3 or L4 in a case-match study. Methods: We conducted a retrospective case-match study and included 82 patients in the study. Radiological results before surgery, after surgery, and at last follow-up were recorded and analyzed in the L3 and L4 groups. Results: After matching the age, Risser’s sign, sex, and main Cobb, 41 pairs of patients were enrolled in our study. The total fusion segments in the L3 group (median [interquartile range]: 5.0 [6.0–5.0]) were shorter than those in the L4 group (6.0 [6.5–6.0]). The main curve was significantly corrected after surgery in both groups, and was comparable at the last followup between groups. In addition, according to the results of Fisher precision probability test, there was no significant difference of coronal or sagittal imbalance between the 2 groups at the 2-year follow-up. Conclusion: The correction in coronal and sagittal planes in L3 group and L4 group remains similar. On account of more motion segments, L3 could be an ideal choice as LIV in moderate Lenke 5C type AIS. Long-term follow-up is needed to evaluate the effect of larger compensatory lumbar-sacral curve when stopping at L3.

        An exchange bias observed in Tb/Cr/FeCo trilayers with ultrathin Cr layer at low temperature

        Positive exchange bias field (He) is observed in Tb/Cr (tCr)/FeCo trilayers at 5 K without cooling field, and negative He for Tb/FeCo bilayer. The negative He of Tb/FeCo implies the FM coupling at the interface due to Co and Fe dominate in the magnetization of the ferrimagnetic interlayer alloy of FeCo and Tb. With the inserting of Cr layer, this situation is broken, and the positive He implies the antiferromagnetic interlayer coupling. A peak of He = 6.0 mT for trilayers with tCr = 1.5 nm is corresponding to the minimum value of coercivity as a function of tCr at 5 K, which is used to study the effect of the cooling field (Hfc) on He as a function of temperature. It is found that Hfc of 100 mT triggers He from positive to negative at T ≤ 15 K. The magnetoresistance results also confirm the coexistence of multiple MR mechanisms in these trilayers.

      • AN EMPIRICAL EXAMINATION OF THE PEER INFLUENCE ON CROWDFUNDING MARKETS

        Crowdfunding has recently emerged as a novel way for people to collect monetary donation from large numbers of internet users. Since 2009, the volume of crowdfunding has increased exponentially, reaching 16.2 billion in 2014. A growing number of literature starts to investigate social influence in crowdfunding that occurs when former backers, who make contribution to fund a project at an earlier stage of fund-raising period, make influences of the contribution decision of latter backers. Crowdfunding can be classified into four categories, namely, lending-based, equity-based, reward-based, and donation-based. The primary goal of lending-based and equity-based crowdfunding is to raise capital and borrow money from a number of investors or lenders in exchange for interest payment or equity share of a company. In contrast, reward-based crowdfunding or donation-based crowdfunding requires a project initiator to create a project, which raise fund to develop a new product (e.g., private good) or enhance the public interest (e.g., public good). In this study, we focus on the two most popular crowdfunding type: reward-based and donation-based crowdfunding projects. In reward-based crowdfunding, backers (or contributors) give a small amount of money in return for a reward such as a copy of creative work or pre-sell products. In donation-based crowdfunding, backers donate to projects for gratitude and the pleasure of giving and expect no compensation in exchange

        Polymorphism of Estrogen Receptor Genes and Its Interactions With Neurodevelopmental Genes in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Among Chinese Han Descent

        Objective Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a polygenic neurodevelopmental disorder with significant gender differences. The sexual dimorphism of ADHD may be associated with estrogen acting through estrogen receptors (ESR). This study investigates the impact of <i>ESR</i> gene polymorphism and its interactions with neurodevelopmental genes on ADHD susceptibility.Methods The study compared genotyping data of single nucleotide polymorphisms in <i>ESR1</i> and <i>ESR2</i> in 1,035 ADHD cases and 962 controls. The gene-gene interactions between <i>ESR</i> genes and three neurodevelopmental genes (brain-derived neurotrophic factor [<i>BDNF</i>], synaptosomal-associated protein of 25 kDa gene [<i>SNAP25</i>], and cadherin-13 [<i>CDH13<i></i></i>]) in ADHD were investigated using generalized multifactor dimensionality reduction and verified by logistic regression analysis.Results The G allele of rs960070/<i>ESR2</i> (empirical p=0.0076) and the A allele of rs8017441/<i>ESR2</i> (empirical p=0.0426) were found significantly higher in ADHD cases than in the controls but not in male or female subgroups. Though no difference was found in all subjects or females, the A allele of rs9340817/<i>ESR1</i> (empirical p=0.0344) was found significantly higher in ADHD cases than controls in males. We also found genetic interaction models between <i>ESR2</i> gene, neurodevelopmental genes and ADHD susceptibility in males (<i>ESR2</i> rs960070/<i>BDNF</i> rs6265/<i>BDNF</i> rs2049046/<i>SNAP25</i> rs362987/<i>CDH13</i> rs6565113) and females (<i>ESR2<i></i></i> rs960070/<i>BDNF<i></i></i> rs6265/<i>BDNF</i> rs2049046) separately, though it was negative in overall subjects.Conclusion The <i>ESR</i> gene polymorphism associates with ADHD among Chinese Han children, with interactions between <i>ESR<i></i></i> genes and neurodevelopmental genes potentially influencing the susceptibility of ADHD.

      • Theoretical Study on the Adsorption and Decomposition of Methanol over the PtCrCu (111) Surface

        The density functional theory (DFT) and self-consistent periodic calculation were used to investigate methanol adsorption on the PtCrCu (111) surface. The adsorption energies, equilibrium geometries and vibration frequencies of thirteen type’s methanol adsorption models on the PtCrCu (111) surface were predicted and the favorite adsorption model for methanol is the fcc-Pt2Cr. The strong anti-poisoning ability of the optimal adsorption model fcc-Pt2Cr has been found when the catalysts resistance to carbon monoxide (CO) was explored. Furthermore, after doping of Cr and Cu atoms in Pt-based catalysts energy band has been broadened and the original peak of the d-orbital for atom Pt which was close to the Fermi level disappears, these phenomena can explain why this new ternary alloy catalyst for the enhancement of electrocatalytic activity to some extent. The rate-determining step of possible decomposition pathway was investigated with transition state searching and the calculation results show that the activation barrier of O-H bond breaking with PtCrCu (111) ternary alloy catalyst is lower than that of O-H bond breaking without catalyzer in gas phase.

        Controlling Ejection State of a Pneumatic Micro-droplet Generator Through Machine Vision Methods

        Pneumatic micro-droplet ejection is a printing technique that has potential applications in many fi elds, especially in thefi eld of bio-printing. The ejection is via a solenoid valve being briefl y turned on, so that high pressure gas enters the liquidreservoir, forming a gas pressure pulse, forcing the liquid out through a tiny nozzle to form a micro-droplet. For bio-printingapplications, the bio-inks are typically non-standard. The diffi culties are not only that the initial working parameters arediffi cult to set, but also the working conditions change over time in many cases. In order to maintain a stable single-dropejection state, a machine vision based ejection monitoring was designed to obtain the number, positions and sizes of thedroplets for each ejection, and a feedback control is realized by adjusting the “ON” time of the solenoid valve or the gaspressure at the front end of the solenoid valve.

        Frequency-Code Domain Contention in Multi-antenna Multicarrier Wireless Networks

        Coordination among users is an inevitable but timeconsumingoperation in wireless networks. It severely limit thesystem performance when the data rate is high. We present FCMAC,a novel MAC protocol that can complete a contention withinone contention slot over a joint frequency-code domain. When anode takes part in the contention, it generates randomly a contentionvector (CV), which is a binary sequence of length equalto the number of available orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) subcarriers. In FC-MAC, different user is assignedwith a distinct signature (i.e., PN sequence). A node sendsthe signature at specific subcarriers and uses the sequence of theON/OFF states of all subcarriers to indicate the chosen CV. Meanwhile,every node uses the redundant antennas to detect the CVsof other nodes. The node with the minimum CV becomes the winner. The experimental results show that, the collision probabilityof FC-MAC is as low as 0.05% when the network has 100 nodes. In comparison with IEEE 802.11, contention time is reduced by50–80% and the throughput gain is up to 200%.

        Strength, deformation and failure behavior of bolted rock-like specimen with multiple cracks under uniaxial compression by particle flow simulation

        Most of the rock mass in nature contains a large number of joints, faults and other defects, which make the rock mass have the characteristics of discontinuity and anisotropy, and easily lead to instability and failure of rock engineering. A great quantity of engineering practices show that the bolt has a significant supporting effect on jointed rock mass. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the deformation and failure characteristics of jointed rock mass and the crack arrest effect of bolt for the safety and stability of engineering. A reasonable numerical model of bolted rock samples with non-persistent joints is established by using a three-dimensional Particle Flow Code (PFC) based on the laboratory rock specimens, and the uniaxial compression numerical test is carried out. The results indicate that (1) the numerical simulation results are in good agreement with the laboratory test results, and the variation trend of strength is basically consistent; (2) the different joint angles and anchorage angles result in variations in the mechanical properties of bolted specimens with non-persistent joints; (3) the joint angle has a significant effect on the failure mode of the specimen; (4) the existence of bolts can effectively limit the initiation and propagation process of micro-cracks, and greatly improve the mechanical properties of the specimen containing non-persistent joints.
