Porous NiS@Ni2P nanoframe as a multi-functional catalyst for enhanced oxygen evolution and urea oxidation reactions

Yin Huang,Yaoyao Pan,Xiaoyu Huang,Jialu Zhao,Xiuhua Wang 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.118 No.-

During water electrolysis, multifunctional electrocatalysts with outstanding functionality and endurancemust be thoughtfully constructed and designed. Below, we report a hollow NiS@Ni2P nanoframeheterostructure that works well as a substitute catalyst for the urea oxidation and general water splittingreactions. The hollow NiS@Ni2P nanoframe was synthesized by ion exchange, sulfurization and phosphating, which is favorable for achieving a heterostructure. The NiS@Ni2P catalyst exhibits excellent catalyticactivity and strong long-term stability in 1.0 M KOH solutions for the hydrogen evolution reaction, whichneeds 121 mV to achieve 10 mA cm2. And for the oxygen evolution reaction, the catalyst needs 311 mVto acquire 50 mA cm2. These advantages come from the optimal electronic structural configuration, hierarchical hollow nanoframe structure, and large surface area. It could attain 10 mA cm2 at 1.41 Vwhen utilized as a urea oxidation reaction anode, which is lower than the oxygen evolution reaction. For total water splitting and urea oxidation process, NiS@Ni2P as a bifunctional catalyst holds tremendouspromise due to its strong electrocatalytic activity, ease of manufacture, and low cost of raw ingredients.

Scaling up the in-hospital hepatitis C virus care cascade in Taiwan

        ( Chung-feng Huang ),( Pey-fang Wu ),( Ming-lun Yeh ),( Ching-i Huang ),( Po-cheng Liang ),( Cheng-ting Hsu ),( Po-yao Hsu ),( Hung-yin Liu ),( Ying-chou Huang ),( Zu-yau Lin ),( Shinn-cherng Chen ),( 대한간학회 2021 Clinical and Molecular Hepatology(대한간학회지) Vol.27 No.1

Background/Aims: Obstacles exist in facilitating hepatitis C virus (HCV) care cascade. To increase timely and accurate diagnosis, disease awareness and accessibility, in-hospital HCV reflex testing followed by automatic appointments and a late call-back strategy (R.N.A. model) was applied. We aimed to compare the HCV treatment rate of patients treated with this strategy compared to those without. Methods: One hundred and twenty-five anti-HCV seropositive patients who adopted the R.N.A. model in 2020 and another 1,396 controls treated in 2019 were enrolled to compare the gaps in accurate HCV RNA diagnosis to final treatment allocation. Results: The HCV RNA testing rate was significantly higher in patients who received reflex testing than in those without reflex testing (100% vs. 84.8%, P<0.001). When patients were stratified according to the referring outpatient department, a significant improvement in the HCV RNA testing rate was particularly noted in patients from non-hepatology departments (100% vs. 23.3%, P<0.001). The treatment rate in HCV RNA seropositive patients was 83% (83/100) after the adoption of the R.N.A. model, among whom 96.1% and 73.9% of patients were from the hepatology and non-hepatology departments, respectively. Compared to subjects without R.N.A. model application, a significant improvement in the treatment rate was observed for patients from non-hepatology departments (73.9% vs. 27.8%, P=0.001). The application of the R.N.A. model significantly increased the in-hospital HCV treatment uptake from 6.4% to 73.9% for patients from non-hepatology departments (P<0.001). Conclusions: The care cascade increased the treatment uptake and set up a model for enhancing in-hospital HCV elimination. (Clin Mol Hepatol 2021;27:136-143)

Synthesis method based on solution regions for planar four-bar straight-line linkages

        Yin Lairong,Han Jianyou,Mao Cong,Huang Juan,Yang Tong 대한기계학회 2012 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.26 No.10

An analytical method for synthesizing and selecting desired four-bar straight-line mechanisms based on solution regions is presented. Given two fixed pivots, the point position and direction of the target straight-line, an infinite number of mechanism solutions can be produced by employing this method, both in the general case and all three special cases. Unifying the straight-line direction and the displacement from the given point to the instant center into the same form with different angles as parameters, infinite mechanism solutions can be expressed with different solution region charts. The mechanism property graphs have been computed to enable the designers to find out the involved mechanism information more intuitively and avoid aimlessness in selecting optimal mechanisms.

Dietary Supplementation with Acanthopanax senticosus Extract Modulates Gut Microflora in Weaned Piglets

        Yin, Fugui,Yin, Yulong,Kong, Xiangfeng,Liu, Yulan,He, Qinghua,Li, Tiejun,Huang, Ruilin,Hou, Yongqing,Shu, Xugang,Tan, Liangxi,Chen, Lixiang,Gong, Jianhua,Kim, Sung Woo,Wu, Guoyao Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2008 Animal Bioscience Vol.21 No.9

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Acanthopanax senticosus extract (ASE) as a dietary additive on gut microflora in weaned piglets. A total of sixty pigs were weaned at 21 d of age (BW = $5.64{\pm}0.23kg$) and allocated on the basis of BW and litter to three dietary treatments in a randomized complete block design. The dietary treatments were: control group (basal diet), antibiotics group (basal diet+0.02% colistin), and ASE group (basal diet+0.1% ASE). On d 7, 14 and 28 after consuming the experimental diets, five piglets per group were sacrificed and then the contents from the jejunum, ileum and cecum were collected to determine changes in the microbial community by using a polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR-DGGE) technique and estimating the contents of Lactobacillus and E. coli by in vitro culturing methods. The results showed that the ASE promoted the microflora diversity in the cecum. Enumeration of bacteria in the gut contents showed that the number of Lactobacillus increased (p<0.05), while that of E. coli decreased (p<0.05) when compared with the other 2 groups as the days of age progressed post-weaning. These findings suggested that the ASE, as a substitute for dietary antimicrobial products, could improve the development of the normal gut microflora and suppress bacterial pathogens, and effectively promote a healthy intestinal environment.

Anti-Diabetic Effect of Aster sphathulifolius in C57BL/KsJ-db/db Mice.

        Yin, Xingfu,Huang, Yuhua,Jung, Da-Woon,Chung, Hee Chul,Choung, Se Young,Shim, Jae-Hoon,Kang, Il-Jun Mary Ann Liebert, Inc 2015 Journal of medicinal food Vol.18 No.9

In this study, we investigated the anti-diabetic effect of Aster sphathulifolius (AS) extract in C57BL/KsJ-db/db mice. The db/db mice were orally administered with AS 50% ethanol extract at concentrations of 50, 100, and 200?mg/kg/day (db/db-AS50, db/db-AS100, and db/db-AS200, respectively) for 10 weeks. Food and water intake, fasting blood glucose concentrations, blood glycosylated hemoglobin levels, and plasma insulin levels were significantly lower in the db/db-AS200 group than in the vehicle-treated db/db group; whereas glucose tolerance was significantly improved in the db/db-AS200 group. Moreover, AS dose dependently increased both insulin receptor substrate 1 and glucose transporter type 4 expression in skeletal muscle, significantly increased glucokinase expression, and decreased glucose 6-phosphatase and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase expressions in the liver. The expressions of transcription factors, such as sterol-regulatory element-binding protein, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ, and adipocyte protein 2, were upregulated in adipose tissue. Furthermore, immunohistochemical analysis showed that AS upregulated insulin production by increasing pancreatic β-cell mass. In summary, AS extract normalized hyperglycemia by multiple mechanisms: inhibition of glyconeogenesis, acceleration of glucose metabolism and lipid metabolism, and increase of glucose uptake. Using in vivo assays, this study has shown the potential of AS as a medicinal food and suggests the efficacy of AS for the use of prevention of diabetes.

The International Development Strategy of Les Enphants Roots in China Market

Huang, Shu-Tzu,Cho, Hsin-Ying,Hsu, Yin-Chieh The Korean Society of Costume 2014 International journal of costume and fashion Vol.14 No.1

Facing a mature domestic market and the challenges of the global consumer market, retailers in Taiwan are in pursuit of international development strategies for increasing its market opportunities as one of its key growth strategies. In the global market, the Chinese market becomes Taiwan retailers' main international development milestone due to its similarity of language, culture and historical background with China. Therefore, this research uses case study method based on Eclectic paradigm (Dunning 1981) to explore the various advantages of a Taiwanese children's clothing retailer Les Enphants, which include ownership advantage, internalization advantage, and location advantage. These advantages in turn demonstrate rationales behind Les Enphants' internationalization necessity (Why to Go), selecting China as an expansion target (Where to Go), and management and operation strategies implemented in China (How to Go). Our study highlights a successful entry and expansion model of the Taiwanese children clothing retailer, and may have solid contribution to the practical application of internationalization strategy theory.

      • In vitro and in vivo Evaluation of the Antitumor Efficiency of Resveratrol Against Lung Cancer

Yin, Hai-Tao,Tian, Qing-Zhong,Guan, Luan,Zhou, Yun,Huang, Xin-En,Zhang, Hui Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.3

Lung cancer remains a deadly disease with unsatisfactory overall survival. Resveratrol (Res) has the potential to inhibit growth of several types of cancer such as prostate and colorectal examples. In the current study, we evaluated in vitro and in vivo anticancer efficiency of Res in a xenograft model with A549 cells. Cell inhibition effects of Res were measured by MTT assay. Apoptotis of A549 cells was assessed with reference to caspase-3 activity and growth curves of tumor volume and bodyweight of the mice were measured every two days. In vitro cytotoxicity evaluation indicated Res to exert dose-dependent cell inhibition effects against A549 cells with activation of caspase-3. In vivo evaluation showed Res to effectively inhibit the growth of lung cancer in a dose-dependent manner in nude mice. Therefore, we believe that Res might be a promising phytomedicine for cancer therapy and further efforts are needed to explore this potential therapeutic strategy.

      • In Vivo Evaluation of Curcumin-loaded Nanoparticles in a A549 Xenograft Mice Model

Yin, Hai-Tao,Zhang, De-Geng,Wu, Xiao-Li,Huang, Xin-En,Chen, Gang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.1

Curcumin (Cum) has been reported to have potential chemo-preventive and chemotherapeutic activity through influencing various processes, inducing cell cycle arrest, differentiation and apoptosis in a series of cancers. However, the poor solubility of Cum limits its further applications in the treatment of cancer. We have previously reported Cum-loaded nanoparticles (Cum-NPs) prepared with amphilic methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-polycaprolactone (mPEG-PCL) block copolymers. The current study demonstrated superior antitumor efficacy of Cum-NPs over free Cum in the treatment of lung cancer. In vivo evaluation further demonstrated superior anticancer effects of Cum-NPs by delaying tumor growth compared to free Cum in an established A549 transplanted mice model. Moreover, Cum-NPs showed little toxicity to normal tissues including bone marrow, liver and kidney at a therapeutic dose. These results suggest that Cum-NPs are effective to inhibit the growth of human lung cancer with little toxicity to normal tissues, and could provide a clinically useful therapeutic regimen. They thus merit more research to evaluate the feasibility of clinical application.
