        The Short Term Effects of Ankle Strengthening Emphasis with Jumping on Strength, Mechanical Properties, and Balance with and without Wearing High Heel in Ankle Instability

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the short term effects of ASEJ (ankle strengthening with emphasis on jumping) for 3weeks on strength, mechanical properties, and balance and to compare the balance with and without HH(high-heel) condition. Methods: ASEJ (a combined exercise of squat, heel raise up, and jumping) were performed for the subjects in 11 female ankle instability young females (21.7±2.0 yrs Cumberland ankle instability score 19±6.5). To investigate the effect of ASEJ, investigator used dynamometer for measuring strength, MyotonPRO for measuring mechanical properties(tone, stiffness, and elasticity of the muscles), I-Balance test for static balance, and Y-balance test for dynamic balance between the condition with and without HH condition. All data were normally distributed and analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 statistical program. Comparing pre- and post-intervention and the condition with and without HH conditions data were examined using the paired t-test. The level of significance was chosen as 0.05 for all the analyses. Results: 3wks of ASEJ would strengthen leg muscles and increasing muscle tone and stiffness in most muscles however there was decreasing muscle elasticity of gastrocnemious. In addition, the ASEJ improves the static balance for ankle instability young females and increases the dynamic balance when wearing the heels especially. Conclusion: the ASEJ could recommend to improve the strength and balance for ankle instability young females. Also, measuring the balance with HH conditions well represents the risk of ankle damage in female.

        A Study on Altitude Estimation using Smartphone Pressure Sensor for Emergency Positioning

        This paper introduces a study to estimate the user altitude in need of rescue in an emergency. The altitude is estimated by using the barometric pressure sensor embedded in the smartphone. Compared to GPS, which is degraded in urban or indoor environments, it has the advantage of not having spatial restrictions. With the endless development of smartphone hardware, it is possible to estimate the absolute altitude using the measured value if only the bias of the embedded barometric pressure sensor is applied. The altitude information of the person in need of rescue in an emergency is a great help in reducing rescue time. Since time is tight, we propose online calibration that provides the barometric pressure sensor bias used for altitude estimation through database. Furthermore, experiments were conducted to understand the characteristics of the barometric pressure sensor, which is greatly affected by wind. At the end, the altitude estimation performance was confirmed through an actual field tests in various floors in the building.

        Changes in the Laterality of Functional Connectivity Associated with Tinnitus: Resting-State fMRI Study

        Purpose: One of the suggested potential mechanisms of tinnitus is an alteration in perception in the neural auditory pathway. The aim of this study was to investigate the difference in laterality in functional connectivity between tinnitus patients and healthy controls using resting state functional MRI (rs-fMRI). Materials and Methods: Thirty-eight chronic tinnitus subjects and 45 age-matched healthy controls were enrolled in this study. Connectivity was investigated using independent component analysis, and the laterality index map was calculated based on auditory (AN) and dorsal attention (DAN), default mode (DMN), sensorimotor, salience (SalN), and visual networks (VNs). The laterality index (LI) of tinnitus subjects was compared with that of normal controls using region-of-interest (ROI) and voxel-based methods and a two-sample unpaired t-test. Pearson correlation was conducted to assess the associations between the LI in each network and clinical variables. Results: The AN and VN showed significant differences in LI between the two groups in ROI analysis (P < 0.05), and the tinnitus group had clusters with significantly decreased laterality of AN, SalN, and VN in voxel-based comparisons. The AN was positively correlated with tinnitus distress (tinnitus handicap inventory), and the SalN was negatively correlated with symptom duration (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that various functional networks related to psychological distress can be modified by tinnitus, and that this interrelation can present differently on the right and left sides, according to the dominance of the network.

        치매환자가족을 위한 돌봄 교육 서비스 앱 개발

        Objectives: This research was to develop a care information service app for the dementia patient’s family and verify the validity of the developed app. Methods: The development proceeded in the ADDIE order of analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation stages. SPSS 24.0 program was used for data analysis. Descriptive statistics were used to analyzed the suitability of data obtained from experts and users. Content validity of the measurement tools were vertified using CVI. The reliability of the measurement tools was verified using Cronbach’s alpha. Results: Expert’s app evaluation were of the interface designs, the highest score was at 3.87 (±0.35), while of the technology securities, the lowest score was at 3.07 (±0.46). User’s app evaluation were of the interface designs, the highest score was at 3.64 (±0.49), while of the technology securities, the lowest score was at 3.24 (±0.60). Conclusions: It is proposed to encourage utilization of dementia patient’s families in medical institutions and communities and to conduct research and evaluation on future management services through continuous enhancement of contents and application management.

        정지 궤도 기상 위성을 이용한 기계 학습 기반 강우 강도 추정: 한반도 여름철을 대상으로

        강우 현상은 물 순환과 에너지 순환의 주요 요소 중 하나이며 강우량 추정은 수자원 확보와 수재해 예측 및 피해 감축에 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 위성 기반 강우량 추정은 시공간적으로 고해상도인 자료를 통하여 넓은 지역을 연속적으로 감시할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 Himawari-8 Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) 수증기 채널(6.7 μm), 적외 채널(10.8 μm)과 기상 레이더 Column Max (CMAX) 합성장을 이용하여 기계학습 기반 정량적 강우량 추정 모델을 개발하였다. 기계학습 기법으로는 랜덤 포레스트(Random Forest, RF)를 사용하였으며 기상 레이더 반사도(dBZ)와 Z-R식으로 변환한 강우강도(mm/hr)를 타겟으로 하는 모델을 구축하여 비교하였다. 레이더 강우강도를 통해 검증하였을 때 임계성공지수(Critical Success Index, CSI)는 0.34, Mean-Absolute-Error (MAE) 4.82 mm/hr였다. GeoKompsat-2(GK-2A) 강우강도 산출물, Precipitation Estimation from Remotely Sensed Information Using Artificial Neural Networks (PERSIANN)-Cloud Classification System (CCS) 산출물과 비교하였을 때 강우 유무 분류에서 CSI 21.73%, 10.81%, 강우강도 정량적 평가에서MAE 31.33%, 23.49% 높은 성능을 보였다. 강우량 산출물을 지도화 한 결과, 실제 강우강도 분포와 유사한 분포를 모의하여 기존 산출물 대비 높은 정확도의 강우량을 추정했다. Precipitation is one of the main factors that affect water and energy cycles, and its estimation plays a very important role in securing water resources and timely responding to water disasters. Satellite-based quantitative precipitation estimation (QPE) has the advantage of covering large areas at high spatiotemporal resolution. In this study, machine learning-based rainfall intensity models were developed using Himawari-8 Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) water vapor channel (6.7 μm), infrared channel (10.8 μm), and weather radar Column Max (CMAX) composite data based on random forest (RF). The target variables were weather radar reflectivity (dBZ) and rainfall intensity (mm/hr) converted by the ZR relationship. The results showed that the model which learned CMAX reflectivity produced the Critical Success Index (CSI) of 0.34 and the Mean-Absolute-Error (MAE) of 4.82 mm/hr. When compared to the GeoKompsat-2 and Precipitation Estimation from Remotely Sensed Information Using Artificial Neural Networks (PERSIANN)-Cloud Classification System (CCS) rainfall intensity products, the accuracies improved by 21.73% and 10.81% for CSI, and 31.33% and 23.49% for MAE, respectively. The spatial distribution of the estimated rainfall intensity was much more similar to the radar data than the existing products.

        소수성 처리된 나노다공성 알루미늄 양극산화피막의 제빙

        Icing causes various serious problems, where water vapor or water droplets adhere at cold conditions. Therefore, understanding of ice adhesion on solid surface and technology to reduce de-icing force are essential for surface finishing of metallic materials used in extreme environments and aircrafts. In this study, we controlled wettability of aluminum alloy using anodic oxidation, hydrophobic coating and lubricant-impregnation. In addition, surface porosity of anodized oxide layer was controlled to realize superhydrophilicity and superhydrophobicity. Then, de-icing force on these surfaces with a wide range of wettability and mobility of water was measured. The results show that the enhanced wettability of hydrophilic surface causes strong adhesion of ice. The hydrophobic coating on the nanoporous anodic oxide layer reduces the adhesion of ice, but the volume expansion of water during the freezing diminishes the effect. The lubricant-impregnated surface shows an extremely low adhesion of ice, since the lubricant inhibits the direct contact between ice and solid surface.

        Securing urban safety is mainly the responsibility of state and local governments. Yet, as urban size and system complexity grow, the role of the governments for urban safety leaches the limit to meet the safety need of citizen. Building safe neighborhoods based on community involvement may be one of ways to fill in the gap. The purpose of this study is to explore a participatory scheme for building safe neighborhoods in Seoul. First, the study examines concepts and various types of safe neighborhoods making. Second, the study looks over the characteristics of disasters and accidents in Seoul including natural and manmade disasters, traffic and various everyday life accidents, and crime. Third, the study investigates various domestic and foreign cases relevant to safe neighborhoods making. Fourth, the study suggestss citizen participation strategies for safe neighborhoods making. Particularly, the study suggests numerous areas of citizen participation. Fifth, the study suggests municipal support and evaluation schemes for safe neighborhoods making. Finally, the study summarizes the results and suggests policy implications.
