      • A stable and highly efficient visible-light-driven hydrogen evolution porous CdS/WO<sub>3</sub>/TiO<sub>2</sub> photocatalysts

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>It is well known that both catalytic efficiency and stability are the two important parameters of photocatalysts for visible-light-driven hydrogen production reactions. However, light-driven hydrogen evolution based applications still suffer from sluggish reaction kinetics due to the lack of high-performance photocatalysts. In this paper, we successfully synthesized a ternary porous CdS/WO<SUB>3</SUB>/TiO<SUB>2</SUB> photocatalyst with high efficiency and stability via two-stage approach. The as-prepared samples are characterized by XRD, FESEM, EDS, TEM, XPS, and UV–Vis, respectively, which illustrated that the CdS and WO<SUB>3</SUB> moieties are in-situ formed inside the porous TiO<SUB>2</SUB>. Particularly, the photocatalytic hydrogen (H<SUB>2</SUB>) evolution rate of such ternary 8% CdS/WO<SUB>3</SUB>/TiO<SUB>2</SUB> (molar ration of CdS:WO<SUB>3</SUB>:TiO<SUB>2</SUB> = 8:8:100) photocatalyst ranges up to 2106 μmol h<SUP>−1</SUP> g<SUP>−1</SUP> under visible-light irradiation, which is higher than that of pure TiO<SUB>2</SUB> and other binary (CdS/TiO<SUB>2</SUB> and WO<SUB>3</SUB>/TiO<SUB>2</SUB>) porous photocatalysts. The superior H<SUB>2</SUB> evolution efficiency can be attributed to the coexistence of CdS and WO<SUB>3</SUB> in porous TiO<SUB>2</SUB> which can promote the interfacial charge transfer and separation as well as extend the light absorption up to the visible range.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Highly efficient and stable photocatalytic activity of CdS/WO<SUB>3</SUB>/TiO<SUB>2</SUB> photocatalysts were synthesized by a two-step method. </LI> <LI> CdS and WO<SUB>3</SUB> inlaid on porous TiO<SUB>2</SUB> can extend the light absorption and enhance photogenerated electron-hole pairs separation. </LI> <LI> The porous structure can provide more reaction active sites and improve photoproduced-electrons and holes transport speed. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical Abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        This paper is concerned about several quasilinear elliptic systems with m-Laplacians. According to the Liouville theorems of those systems on ${\mathbb{R}}^n$, we obtain the singularity estimates of the positive $C^1$-weak solutions on bounded or unbounded domain (but it is not ${\mathbb{R}}^n$ and their decay rates on the exterior domain when ${\mid}x{\mid}{\rightarrow}{\infty}$. The doubling lemma which is developed by Polacik-Quittner-Souplet plays a key role in this paper. In addition, the corresponding results of several special examples are presented.

        A LIOUVILLE THEOREM OF AN INTEGRAL EQUATION OF THE CHERN-SIMONS-HIGGS TYPE

        In this paper, we are concerned with a Liouville-type result of the nonlinear integral equation of Chern-Simons-Higgs type $$u(x)=\vec{\;l\;}+C_{\ast}{{\displaystyle\smashmargin{2}{\int\nolimits_{\mathbb{R}^n}}}\;{\frac{(1-{\mid}u(y){\mid}^2){\mid}u(y){\mid}^2u(y)-\frac{1}{2}(1-{\mid}u(y){\mid}^2)^2u(y)}{{\mid}x-y{\mid}^{n-{\alpha}}}}dy.$$ Here u : ℝ<sup>n</sup> → ℝ<sup>k</sup> is a bounded, uniformly continuous function with k ⩾ 1 and 0 < α < n, $\vec{\;l\;}{\in}\mathbb{R}^k$ is a constant vector, and C<sub>*</sub> is a real constant. We prove that ${\mid}\vec{\;l\;}{\mid}{\in}\{0,\frac{\sqrt{3}}{3},1\}$ if u is the finite energy solution. Further, if u is also a differentiable solution, then we give a Liouville type theorem, that is either $u{\rightarrow}\vec{\;l\;}$ with ${\mid}\vec{\;l\;}{\mid}=\frac{\sqrt{3}}{3}$, when |x| → ∞, or $u{\equiv}\vec{\;l\;}$, where ${\mid}\vec{\;l\;}{\mid}{\in}\{0,1\}$.

        Effect of the Boundary Orientation of Melt Pool on Mechanical Property and Fracture Path in Selective-Laser-Melted AlSi10Mg Alloy

        The present work investigated the effect of the boundary orientation of melt pool on the mechanical properties and fracturepath in selective-laser-melted AlSi10Mg alloy. The acquired data are beneficial for understanding the influence of themicrostructure on mechanical properties. During the alloy’s selective laser melting (SLM), the melt pool boundary wasalmost parallel with the scanning direction, and the grains grew along the building direction. When the load-bearing facewas perpendicular to the melt pool boundary, the crack propagation path deflected towards coarse melt pool of the melt poolboundary, reducing the probability of directly crossing the fine melt pool. Otherwise, the cracks would mainly propagatealong the melt pool boundary. In the tensile deformation process, coarse melt pool (CMP) was subjected to higher localstrain than fine melt pool (FMP) and heat-affected zone (HAZ), and the crack propagated or deflected along the CMP inthe melt pool boundary. Therefore, the anisotropy of mechanical properties in SLM AlSi10Mg was mainly ascribed to theCMP density on the load-bearing face. As a weak area, the high proportion of CMP significantly reduced the strength andplasticity of the alloy.

        BET inhibitors synergize with sunitinib in melanoma through GDF15 suppression

        Targeting bromodomain and extra-terminal domain (BET) proteins has shown a promising therapeutic effect on melanoma. The development of strategies to better kill melanoma cells with BET inhibitor treatment may provide new clinical applications. Here, we used a drug synergy screening approach to combine JQ1 with 240 antitumor drugs from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved drug library and found that sunitinib synergizes with BET inhibitors in melanoma cells. We further demonstrated that BET inhibitors synergize with sunitinib in melanoma by inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. Mechanistically, BET inhibitors sensitize melanoma cells to sunitinib by inhibiting GDF15 expression. Strikingly, GDF15 is transcriptionally regulated directly by BRD4 or indirectly by the BRD4/IL6/STAT3 axis. Xenograft assays revealed that the combination of BET inhibitors with sunitinib causes melanoma suppression in vivo. Altogether, these findings suggest that BET inhibitor-mediated GDF15 inhibition plays a critical role in enhancing sunitinib sensitivity in melanoma, indicating that BET inhibitors synergize with sunitinib in melanoma.

        Preparation of Covalent and Solvent-resistance Colored Latex Particles and Its Application on Cotton Fabric

        Conventional colored latex particles have poor solvent resistance due to the absence of chemical bonds betweenthe dye and polymer component, resulting in staining and greatly restricting its application. In this research, the disperse dyewas chemically bonded to the polymer to prepare covalent and solvent-resistance colored latex particles. Firstly, C.I. DisperseRed 60, as a common disperse dye in industry, was modified by acryloyl chloride (amidation reaction) for the purpose ofintroducing the C=C bonds. The structure of modified C.I. Disperse Red 60 was confirmed by 1HNMR, FTIR and elementalanalysis and its spectral property was also evaluated. Then the covalent colored latex particles were synthesized via miniemulsioncopolymerization of styrene (St) and ethyl acrylate (EA) in presence of modified C.I. Disperse Red 60 monomer. Results of FTIR, TG, DSC and TEM indicated that the covalent colored latex particles were successfully prepared. By usingUV-spectroscopy, the solvent resistance of the colored latex membranes in petroleum ether, hexane, cyclohexane, and ethanolwas monitored, respectively. Slight change of the absorption was detected for 10 days, which verified the excellent solventresistance of covalent colored latex membranes. Finally, the prepared colored latex particles were applied on cotton printingin the absence of binder. The results showed that the colored latex particles printed fabric had superior rubbing fastness andsoft hand feel.
