Structural Analysis of STARS Satellite
Shunsuke Onishi,Tetsuo Yasaka,Masahiro Nohmi 한국항공우주학회 2008 한국항공우주학회 학술발표회 논문집 Vol.- No.-
This paper presents the structural analysis of STARS (Space Tethered Autonomous Robotic Satellite). STARS is a small satellite and will be launched in piggyback fashion by the Japanese launch vehicle H-2A in this fiscal year The STARS project is mainly carried out by Kagawa University, and Kyushu University is responsible for structural analysis. The satellite must satisfy the rocket's requirements in order to qualify for launch. This involves stiffness conditions and load conditions. The stiffness conditions require that the natural frequency of the satellite structure must be above a given frequency. In the load conditions. the following loads are considered: quasi-static, sinusoidal oscillation and random oscillation. It is necessary to analyze and perform experiments to satisfy these conditions. This paper presents the analysis of the natural frequencies, the quasi-static loads and the sinusoidal oscillations. The analysis uses the numerical simulation software ANSYS. Moreover, the paper explains the experiments performed: they are the surveying of the natural frequencies, the quasi-static loads, the sinusoidal oscillations and the random oscillations. The paper also compares the results of the analyses and the experiments in terms of the natural frequencies.

It is necessary to separate, discriminate and guide electrons, thermal ions, and fusion protons created from a D-3He reactor in order to convert kinetic to electric power directly. A cusp direct energy converter (CUSPDEC) is expected to achieve the above-mentioned role. This paper presents simulation experiments of CUSPDEC. The separation of ions and electrons is done and the kinetic energy of ions separated from electrons is converted to electricity.true

Objective: The Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology conducted a retrospective multi- institutional survey of patients who underwent cervical conization in Japan. This study aimed to determine the predictive factors for positive surgical margins in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 3 (CIN 3) patients after therapeutic cervical conization and those for positive margins in patients who did not experience recurrence and did not undergo additional treatment. Methods: In 2009 and 2013, 14,832 patients underwent cervical conization at 205 institutions in Japan. Of these, 8856 patients who underwent therapeutic conization fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Their histologic findings and clinical outcomes were evaluated based on standard statistical procedures and clinical and demographic characteristics. Results: Negative and positive margins were observed in 7,585 and 1,271 (14.4%) patients, respectively. The predictors of positive margins were menopausal status (p<0.001), loop electrosurgical excision procedure (p<0.001), and Shimodaira-Taniguchi (S-T) conization (p<0.001). Of 1,271 patients with positive margins, 1,060 underwent no additional treatment; among those 1,060 patients, 129 (12.2%) experienced recurrence. The predictors of positive margins in patients who did not undergo additional treatment and did not experience recurrence were age, parity, gravidity, S-T conization, and laser scalpel conization. Conclusion: Menopausal status and treatment procedures were associated with positive margins after therapeutic conization of CIN 3. It is important to understand the characteristics of treatment procedures and select an appropriate procedure for each case. For elderly or menopausal patients with positive margins, immediate additional treatment is recommended.

In D-3He nuclear fusion, a traveling wave direct energy converter (TWDEC) is expected to recover the energy of produced protons. The paper presents results of a simulation experiment of the TWDEC. A new circuit, which provides complete matching between the beam velocity and phase velocity of a traveling wave, was designed and constructed. The deceleration efficiency qualitatively varied similarly to numerical calculations. The quantitative discrepancy is considered to be due to insufficient modulation by the experimental structure.

Background/Aims: A white substance that is opaque to endoscopic light is sometimes observed in the epithelium during narrowbandimaging with magnifying endoscopy of gastric or colorectal epithelial neoplasms. This prospective observational study aimedto determine whether the morphology of the white opaque substance (WOS) allows differential diagnosis between colorectaladenoma and carcinoma. Methods: A consecutive series of patients with colorectal adenomas or early carcinomas who underwent endoscopic resectionor surgical excision were studied. The morphology of the WOS was determined based on endoscopic images before thehistopathological diagnosis was performed. The primary outcome was the diagnostic performance of an irregular WOS as a markerof colorectal carcinoma. Results: The study analyzed 125 lesions. A total of 33 lesions showed an irregular WOS, and 92 lesions showed a regular WOS. Among the 33 lesions found to show an irregular WOS, 30 were carcinomas. Among the 92 lesions showing a regular WOS, 79 wereadenomas. With irregular WOS as a marker of carcinoma, the diagnostic accuracy was 87%, sensitivity was 91%, and specificity was86%. Conclusions: This study demonstrated the potential usefulness of the morphology of the WOS as a marker for the differentialdiagnosis between adenoma and carcinoma in cases of colorectal epithelial neoplasms.

Objectives: The unsafe use of pesticides in agriculture represents a major hazard to human health. This study was conducted to investigate the association between pesticide exposure and health symptoms among chili farmers in northeast Thailand. Methods: This cross-sectional analytic study included 141 chili farmers in Sakon Nakhon Province, in northeast Thailand. Data regarding health symptoms were gathered using a self-report questionnaire. A medical technician tested blood cholinesterase activity using an erythrocyte method, and an occupational medicine specialist at Ramathibodi Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand reviewed the results. Associations between personal characteristics, pesticide exposure factors, and health symptoms were analyzed using multiple logistic regression. Results: Of the 141 chili farmers studied, 66.7% experienced pesticide poisoning, as indicated by below-normal cholinesterase levels. Fatigue was the most frequently reported symptom associated with pesticide exposure, affecting 37.6% of participants. This was followed by nausea and vomiting (31.9%), dizziness (14.9%), and dry throat (14.9%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that several factors were significantly associated with adverse symptoms: amount of work experience, volume of pesticides used, use of chemical pesticides, use of leaking containers during spraying, direct pesticide exposure while working, contact with pesticide-soaked clothing, consumption of food and drinks in the fields, and blood cholinesterase level indicating risk. Conclusions: This study suggests potential health risks for chili farmers stemming from exposure to and contamination by pesticides used in agricultural practices. To mitigate these risks, it is essential to supply personal protective equipment and to implement educational programs aimed at improving protective behaviors among farmers.

The Hanbit magnetic mirror device has been involved in a series of experiments on stabilization of the MHD flute type mode. We undertook investigations to see whether a divertor and the kinetic stabilizer (KS) of Post et al can stabilize the MHD instability. The Hanbit divertor configuration used one of the central cell coils with reversed current as the divertor coil and two other coils with increased current to compensate the field droop. The divertor eliminated the m = −1 instability when the null point was inside the vacuum tank. The KS used microwave produced plasmas on field lines in the cusp tank region. Two coils on the cusp tank were configured to produce expanding field lines with a large positive radius of curvature. A 5 kW 2.45 GHz magnetron was used to produce an electron cyclotron resonance heated plasma pressure in this region. A reduction in instability duration was observed for high power plasmas. However, for low power plasmas that terminate violently with an m = −1 instability, the KS action made the duration of the instability longer.
