      • An Overview of Whipgrass Breeding Efforts in Sichuan Agricultural University

        Whipgrass [Hemarthriacompressa(Linn.f.)R.Br.] has several outstanding characteristics that make it attractive in livestock production systems. These include superior cool-season growth compared to other C₄ grasses, persistence under grazing on poorly drained soils, and relatively high herbage digestibility that declines at a slower rate with increasing maturity than for most C₄ grasses. More than 50 years hard work, a whipgrass breeding group in Sichuan Agricultural University (SAU) collected 84 accessions from south china. Through germplasm evaluation and breeding, 3 varieties, Chong gao, Guang yi and Ya an, were released by the end of 2009. All of them are very popular in south china from 1986. In the future, the team approach emphasizes plant improvement in seedling vigor and establishment, seed production, cold tolerance, photoperiod response, seasonal distribution of forage production, forage quality, insect and disease resistance.

        The Co-luminescence Groups of Sm-La-pyridyl Carboxylic Acids and the Binding Characteristics between the Selected Doped Complex and Bovine Serum Albumin

        A novel ligand N,N'-(2,6-pyridinedicarbonyl)bis[N-(carboxymethyl)] (L1) was designed and synthesized. Four co-luminescence groups of Sm-La-pyridyl carboxylic acids systems were researched, which are $K_4Sm_{(1-x)}-La_x(L_1)Cl_3{\cdot}y_1H_2O$, $K_4Sm_{(1-x)}La_x(L_2)Cl_3{\cdot}y_2H_2O$, $K_6Sm_{2(1-x)}La_{2x}(L_3)Cl_6{\cdot}y_3H_2O$, $K_4Sm_{(1-x)}La_x(L_4)Cl_3{\cdot}y_4H_2O$. The results indicated the addition of La(III) could sensitize the luminescence of Sm(III) obviously in a certain range, enhancing emission intensity of Sm-pyridyl carboxylic acids relative to the undoped ones. The optimal mole percentages of La(III) in the mixed ions for $L_1$, $L_2$, $L_3$, $L_4$ were confirmed to be 0.6, 0.5, 0.3, 0.6, respectively. The mechanism of the fluorescence enhancement effect was discussed in detail. Furthermore, the binding interaction of $K_4Sm_{0.4}La_{0.6}(L_4)Cl_3{\cdot}5H_2O$ with bovine serum albumin (BSA) have been investigated due to its potential biological activity. The binding site number n was equal to 1.0 and binding constant $K_a$ was about $2.5{\times}10^5\;L{\cdot}mol^{-1}$.

        OPTIMAL CONTROL FOR SHIFTING COMMAND OF TWO-SPEED ELECTRIC VEHICLES CONSIDERING SHIFTING LOSS

        The energy efficiency of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) remains to be improved, and a two-speed transmission can be regarded as a prominent technology for BEVs because the two-speed transmission can improve acceleration and powertrain efficiency. However, the transmission device requires a well-designed control strategy because the performance of the vehicle can deteriorate if the controller selects an inefficient gear step. Herein, a gear shifting control concept based on dynamic programming is proposed to maximize the system efficiency, where the shifting loss caused by shifting actuators is considered in the control problem. The performance of the proposed control concept is compared to that of a controller utilizing a shifting map obtained via quasi-static optimization. It is shown that the proposed concept improves the efficiency by 0.01 ~ 0.4 % compared with the shifting map applied to different hysteresis gaps, and around 13 % shifting frequency reduction has been experienced while the best energy hysteresis gap is selected. In addition to improving efficiency, the control concept can be extremely beneficial to engineers who wish to design the best control strategy without calibrating the control parameters when the actuator loss is considered in the control problem.

        miR-195/miR-497 Regulate CD274 Expression of Immune Regulatory Ligands in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer

        Purpose: Immune suppression is common in patients with advanced breast cancer but the mechanisms underlying this phenomenon have not been sufficiently studied. In this study, we aimed to identify B7 family members that were able to predict the immune status of patients, and which may serve as potential targets for the treatment of breast cancer. We also aimed to identify microRNAs that may regulate the expression of B7 family members. Methods: The Cancer Genome Atlas data from 1,092 patients with breast cancer, including gene expression, microRNA expression and survival data, were used for statistical and survival analyses. Polymerase chain reaction and Western blot were used to measure messenger RNA and protein expression, respectively. Luciferase assay was used to investigate direct microRNA target. Results: Bioinformatic analysis predicted that microRNA (miR)-93, miR-195, miR-497, and miR-340 are potential regulators of the immune evasion of breast cancer cells, and that they exert this function by targeting CD274, PDCD1LG2, and NCR3LG1. We chose CD274 for further investigations. We found that miR-195, miR-497, and CD274 expression levels were inversely correlated in MDA-MB-231 cells, and miR-195 and miR-497 expressions mimic inhibited CD274 expression in vitro. Mechanistic investigations demonstrated that miR-195 and miR-497 directly target CD274 3´ untranslated region. Conclusion: Our data indicated that the level of B7 family members can predict the prognosis of breast cancer patients, and miR-195/miR-497 regulate CD274 expression in triple negative breast cancer. This regulation may further influence tumor progression and the immune tolerance mechanism in breast cancer and may be able to predict the effect of immunotherapy on patients.

      • Investigation on Ploidy Level and Reproductive Characteristic of Whipgrass

        26 wild accessions and 2 cultivars of whip grass (Hemarthria compress a (L. f.) R. Br.), which collected in the fields of Sichuan Agricultural University (SAU), were used to study on their ploidy level and reproductive characteristics. The results showed that there were 4 tetraploids (14.3%), H028, H029, H052, H053, chromosome numbers were 2n=4x=36, and 24 hexaploids (85.7%), 2n=6x=54. There was no significant correlation between geographical distribution and ploidy level in this research. From 2006 to 2008, hexaploids set few seeds, but all of the tetraploids set some seeds more or less. H052 had the highest seed set (11.22%). The tetraploids had potential for seed production, especially H052, it should be possible to obtain hybrids by cross-pollination in the future.

        Flame retardancy and thermal degradation behavior of red gum wood treated with hydrate magnesium chloride

        Flame retardancy and thermal degradation of wood treated with magnesium chloride (MgCl2 6H2O) were investigated. Results showed that MgCl2 6H2O decreased flame intensity and heat release rate, and reduced smoke concentration and gas yield. From ambient temperature to 250 ℃, MgCl2 6H2O reduced wood combustibility by gas dilution mechanism. The chemical started to decompose at 350 8C and produced MgOHCl, in which -Cl and -Mg free radicals were generated and intervened the chain reactions of wood combustion. Hydrogen chloride gas generated promoted wood charring. MgCl2 6H2O gradually converted to MgOHCl and MgO compounds at higher temperatures, and MgO suppressed wood combustion by the wall effect mechanism.

        In lowland areas of south-west China, especially in late winter and early spring, animal nutrition is so poor t㏊t some animals die because of shortages of forage. Farmers in these areas are finding it difficult to conserve sufficient forage. It is a big challenge to find a new strategy to solve the problem, so tillage systems and overseeding of a perennial pasture can influence the performance of winter annual forage production in the future.

        A Nature-inspired Multiple Kernel Extreme Learning Machine Model for Intrusion Detection

        The application of machine learning (ML) in intrusion detection has attracted much attention with the rapid growth of information security threat. As an efficient multi-label classifier, kernel extreme learning machine (KELM) has been gradually used in intrusion detection system. However, the performance of KELM heavily relies on the kernel selection. In this paper, a novel multiple kernel extreme learning machine (MKELM) model combining the ReliefF with nature-inspired methods is proposed for intrusion detection. The MKELM is designed to estimate whether the attack is carried out and the ReliefF is used as a preprocessor of MKELM to select appropriate features. In addition, the nature-inspired methods whose fitness functions are defined based on the kernel alignment are employed to build the optimal composite kernel in the MKELM. The KDD99, NSL and Kyoto datasets are used to evaluate the performance of the model. The experimental results indicate that the optimal composite kernel function can be determined by using any heuristic optimization method, including PSO, GA, GWO, BA and DE. Since the filter-based feature selection method is combined with the multiple kernel learning approach independent of the classifier, the proposed model can have a good performance while saving a lot of training time.

      • Towards Unified Business Process Modeling and Verification for Role-based Resource-oriented Service Composition

        With the prevalence of ubiquitous computing, big data, and Internet of things in cloud computing environment, it’s important to consider both of collaboration, heterogeneity, isolation of multi-tenant applications and information security and privacy in service composition. Current methods need to be readdressed to cope with cross-organizational, multi-roles participated and knowledge-intensive service composition in an integrated way. Based on the modeling and verification theories of hierarchical colored petri-net, a resource-oriented collaborative workflow model, its resource control model and the joint modeling and verification method are proposed which present a unified solution bridging the gap between traditional structure-oriented workflow execution model and resource-oriented workflow domain model taking into account the underlying roles, tasks, resources and their association and coordination in design-time and runtime as well. In our approach, a business process is divided into three layers: the backbone top-level process, the task fulfillment sub-process and the task execution sub-process in order to reduce the complexity of model verification. In addition this paper gives in-depth discussions on the fine control of implicit parallel and multi-threaded process executions. Finally, the case studies show that the proposed methods are not only applicable to modeling and verification of traditional task-oriented workflows, but also suited for knowledge or data-intensive workflows which involve

      • Feature Selection based on Rough Sets and Minimal Attribute Reduction Algorithm

        Numerous studies have focused on feature selection using many algorithms, but most of these algorithms encounter problems when the amount of data is large. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that handles a large amount of data by partitioning the data to process a reduction, and then selecting the intersection of all reducts as a stable reduct. This algorithm is successful but may suffer from loss of information if the samples are unsuitable. The proposed algorithm is based on discernibility matrix and function. Furthermore, the method can address the case in which the data consist of a significant amount of information. Our results show that the proposed algorithm is powerful and flexible enough to successfully target a range of different domains and can effectively reduce computational complexity as well as increase reduction efficiency. The efficiency of Proposed Algorithm is illustrated by experiments with UCI datasets further.
