        Methylation of CpG sites in C1QTNF1 (C1q and tumor necrosis factor related protein 1) differs by gender in acute coronary syndrome in Han population: a case–control study

        Background ACS (acute coronary syndrome), a subgroup of coronary artery disease (CHD), is a leading cause of death worldwide. Reports shown the association between methylation and CHD, while the abnormal expression of C1QTNF1 (C1q and tumor necrosis factor related protein 1) in CHD patients, but the underlying mechanisms are still unclear. Objective To analyze the methylation of CpG sites of C1QTNF1 in ACS patients. Methods Peripheral blood samples were collected from healthy controls and ACS patients. The methylation of total C1QTNF1, promoter sequence and CpG sites of C1QTNF1 were measured using methylation detection kits. The outcomes were compared between patients and controls based on gender, clinical classification and clinical stages. Results The promoter sequences from 37 ACS patients and 20 controls indicate that the methylation rate of C1QTNF1 was significantly lower in male patients compared to healthy controls at + 63 CpG sites (p = 0.03). Whereas, the methylation rate of C1QTNF1 in female patients was significantly lower than female health controls at − 89, + 39 and + 167 CpG sites (p = 0.021, 0.042, 0.021). In addition, the methylation rate of C1QTNF1 was significantly higher in male patients than female patients at − 89, − 41 and + 39 CpG sites (p = 0.011, 0.043, 0.006). Moreover, the methylation rate significantly decreased at − 24 sites (p = 0.021), but it significantly increased at − 14 site (p = 0.048) in patients with UA, compared to patients with STEMI (ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction). Conclusions There were significant differences in the methylation rate + 63 CpG sites between controls and male ACS patients. The − 14 site methylation increased in patients with UA, compared to patients with STEMI.

      • Synthesis of Dual-labeled Neoglycopeptides for Monitoring Lectin-Mediated Endocytosis

        To date, many efforts have been made to detect lectins in cells by using single imaging techniques. However, only a few dual-labeled glycan-based probes, which integrate advantageous features of two imaging methods to enhance the visualization of biological processes associated with lectins in cells, have been reported. Herein we describe the synthesis of dual fluorescence and magnetic resonance imaging agent conjugated neoglycopeptides and their application in the simultaneous imaging of lectins in mammalian cells. The dual-labeled neoglycopeptides bind to lectins on cell surfaces and subsequently enter the cells via lectin-mediated endocytosis. The results of these efforts show that the novel dual-labeled neoglycopeptides are effective fluorescence and MR imaging agents for monitoring biological processes associated with lectins.

        당나라 공필인물화를 전신의 관점에서 분석함

        본 논문의 연구 목적은 당나라와 당나라 이전에 인물화의 전신에 관한 이론의 정리와 총화를 통해 당나라 이전에 중국 인물화에 대한 ‘전신론(傳神論)’이 나아가 당나라 및 당나라 이전의 인물화의 전신(傳神)인 점을 더욱 포괄적이고 구체적으로 분석할 수 있어 당나라 인물화가 어떻게 신(神)을 전했는지를 보다 구체적이고 세밀하게 분석할 수 있다.먼저 문헌의 정리와 대조를 통해 위진남북조(魏晉南北朝) 시기의 인물화에 있어서의 전신(傳神)의 이론에 대한 분석과 총화를 시작하여 당나라와 당나라 이전의 인물화, 화면전신 이론에 관한 규칙적인 총화를 할 수 있습니다.나아가 화상분석법(畫面分析法)을 통해 당나라의 고전 인물의 그림을 전문적으로 총결산한 이론에 따라 분석·대비함으로써, 당나라 인물화의 전신 (傳神)측면의 구체적인 표현을 보다 포괄적이고 세밀하게 이해할 수 있다.이것으로 우리는 '전신(傳神)'이 당나라 때 '미목전신(眉目傳神)'의 화면 요구만 있었던 것이 아니라,그리고 ‘사체전신’(四體傳神), 필전신(用筆傳神) 등에 관한 요구도 있습니다.

      • Analysis of density-dependent binding of glycans by lectins using carbohydrate microarrays.

        <P>To investigate the density-dependent binding of glycans by lectins using carbohydrate microarrays, a number of C-terminal hydrazide-conjugated neoglycopeptides with various valences and different spatial arrangements of the sugar ligands were prepared on a solid support. The synthetic strategy includes (1) assembly of alkyne-linked peptides possessing C-terminal hydrazide on a solid support, (2) coupling of azide-linked, unprotected sugars to the alkyne-linked peptides on the solid support utilizing click chemistry, and (3) release of the neoglycopeptides from the solid support. By using this synthetic methodology, sixty five neoglycopeptides with a valency ranging from 1 to 4 and different spatial arrangements of the carbohydrate ligands were generated. Carbohydrate microarrays were constructed by immobilizing the prepared neoglycopeptides on epoxide-derivatized glass slides and were used to analyze the density-dependent binding of glycans by lectins. The results of binding property determinations show that lectin binding is highly dependent on the surface glycan density.</P>

        Review on Application Progress of Carbon-Based Catalysts in Environmental Governance

        In recent years, carbon-based catalysts have become a research hotspot in environmental governance applications. Carbon-based catalysts have large surface areas, porous structures, multi-surface functional groups and excellent electron transfer capabilities, and can synergistically exhibit adsorption and catalytic performance. This article reviews the research progress of carbon-based catalysts in environmental governance, mainly including its application in wastewater treatment, exhaust gas purification and soil remediation. In view of the current difficulties in the research of carbon-based catalysts, the development prospects are proposed. We hope that this review will provide convenience for new entrants and researchers intending to employ carbon-based catalysts for the remediation of contaminated environment.

        Reliability is one of the most important factor of software quality. Software Reliability is derived from hardware reliability and there are some insufficiency and difficulty of applying hardware reliability to software reliability measurement, evaluation, and prediction. So, it is necessary to define a more efficient approach of ensuing software reliability. In this paper, a number of activities are defined. Like other software quality activities, reliability assurance activities are also performed through software life cycle and these activities may be the most compatible way of ensuring software reliability.

        Fluorescent and luminescent probes for detection of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species

        <P>Oxidative and nitrosative stress induced by ROS/RNS play crucial roles in a wide range of physiological processes and are also implicated in various diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. Sensitive and selective methods for the detection of ROS/RNS based on fluorescent and luminescent probes are of great use in monitoring the <I>in vivo</I> production of these species and elucidating their biological functions.
