      • Neural Network of Plume and Spatter for Monitoring High-Power Disk Laser Welding

        Using multi-characteristic information fusion based on a BP (back propagation) NN (neural network) of the plume and spatters to monitor the high-power disk laser welding of type 304 austenitic stainless steel is presented. An ultraviolet and visible sensitive high-speed video camera was used to capture the dynamic images of laser welding plume and spatters during laser welding. The number and area of spatters, and the area, height, tilt angle and centroid of plume were calculated by using image processing technology and defined as the characteristic parameters of plume and spatters, which were used as inputs of the neural network. The weld bead width was considered as a parameter reflecting the welding status, which was used as output of the neural network. Relations of plume and spatters with laser welding status was established by a BP neural network and experimental results showed that the proposed method could effectively estimate the high-power disk laser welding status when the laser power ranged from 2 kW to 10 kW.

        Synthesis of Star-Shaped Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) via Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization and Its Photocatalytic Oxidation of Rhodamine B

        Zinc(II) tetra-(2-chloropropionylamido) phthalocyanine (TAPcCl) was synthesized as the initiator for atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). Using CuBr/tris(2-dimethylaminoethyl)amine as the catalyst system,ATRP of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) was performed to create a new star-shaped poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAM) with a zinc phthalocyanine core and PNIPAM arms (TAPc-PAM). The structures of the initiator and the polymers were characterized by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and proton nuclear magnetic resonance. The polydispersity index obtained by gel permeation chromatography indicated that the molecular weight distribution was narrow. The lower critical solution temperatures (LCST) for the TAPc-PAM aqueous solutions measured using the turbidimetry method were increased due to incorporation of the phthalocyanine core and decreased as molecular weight increased. TAPc-PAM possessed photocatalytic activity, a finding that was verified by Rhodamine B degradation in the presence of hydrogen peroxide under visible light. Moreover, the catalytic efficiency was higher at its LCST, which encouraged reuse of the photocatalyst.

        Improved Convolutional Neural Network for Laser Welding Defect Prediction

        In order to predict the laser welding defects, a convolutional neural network prediction model is established. The keyhole image and plume image collected by a high-speed camera are processed to obtain visual information such as keyhole area and plume area. The rolling mean and standard deviation methods are used to calculate the fluctuation degree indicators of the visual information and the optical radiation information obtained by the photoelectric sensor. Finally, three improved one-dimensional convolutional neural network prediction models with a learning rate dynamic adjustment mechanism are established to predict welding defects. Experimental results indicate that the improved one-dimensional convolutional neural network prediction model can avoid premature convergence four times to achieve the best performance. The fluctuation degree indicators of sensor features can distinguish the welding state more easily than the sensor features. The reliability test of the new weld is carried out. The prediction accuracy of fusion detection model of sensor features and fluctuation degree indicators is 99.21%. The improved model can accurately predict laser welding defects.

        microRNA-506-3p suppresses the proliferation of triple negative breast cancer cells via targeting SNAI2

        Background The lacking of estrogen, progesterone and ERBB2 receptor makes the therapy of Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is particularly challenging. Accumulating evidences has demonstrated the dysfunction and critical roles of microRNAs (miRNAs) in TNBC. Objective Explore the role of miR-506-3p in TNBC and evaluate the clinical significance of miR-506-3p. Results miR-506-3p expression was significantly decreased in TNBC and correlated with the worst status of TNBC patients. miR-506-3p overexpression repressed the proliferation, migration and induced cell cycle arrest as well as apoptosis of TNBC cells. Mechanistically, SNAI2 was identified as a target of miR-506-3p in TNBC cells. Consistently, SNAI2 was overexpressed in TNBC and inversely correlated with miR-506-3p level. Transfection of SNAI2 abolished the inhibitory role of miR-506-3p in regulating the malignant phenotypes of TNBC cells. Conclusions These results demonstrated the suppressive function of miR-506-3p in TNBC via targeting SNAI2, indicating the possible application of miR-506-3p in TNBC treatment.         Sex pheromone of the jumping plant bug, Halticus minutus Reuter (Hemiptera: Miridae)

        The jumping plant bug, Halticusminutus Reuter, is a pest of sweet potatoes, soybeans and turfgrass in China. Here we present our analysis of the female-produced sex pheromone. These plant bugs release their sex pheromone, consisting hexyl acetate (HA), hexyl butyrate (HB) and (E)-4-oxo-2-hexenal (4-OHE), at night. These three components, tested individually, elicited strong antennal responses. Field tests indicated that a ternary blend of HA, HB and 4-OHE, at ratios of 1:16:10, effectively attractedmale H. minutus. Our dose-response analysis showed optimal male capture at the trap dose of 13.5mg/trap. Higher trap doses did not improve capture rates. Higher ratios of HB in the pheromone mix led to substantially reduced captures, fromwhich we infer that HBmay function as an alarm pheromone or defensive secretion. Pipette tips were used as long-term lures, and whose longevities were evaluated. Results showed effective duration of pipette tip lures were N5 weeks. Thus, we suggest that the pheromone-baited traps are economically viable tools for long-term monitoring and trapping of jumping plant bugs.

        Synthesis and Physical Properties of Zinc-oxide Textured Films by Using a Filtered Preheated Hydrothermal

        Axially (c-axis)-oriented ZnO thick films with a 8.1 μm thickness were fabricated on ZnOseed layer coated substrates by using a filtered preheated hydrothermal solution. The thick filmscomposed of single-crystal ZnO microrods with various diameters were formed by coalescing eachnanorod together along their side surfaces. From the X-ray diffraction result a biaxial stress existswas found to exist in the as-grown thick films, and the stress gradually increased with increasingannealing temperatures from 200 to 550 C due to a degradation in the crystalline quality. Thebiaxial stress is responsible for the red-shift of the optical band gap of the ZnO thick films. Photoluminescenceand Hall results revealed that the optical and the electrical properties of the thick filmswere degenerated after high-temperature annealing (> 200 C), which was due to the introductionof point defects, such as oxygen interstitials and zinc vacancies.

        Solution-derived 40 µm vertically aligned ZnO nanowire arrays as photoelectrodes in dye-sensitized solar cells

        <P>Well-aligned ZnO nanowire arrays with a long length of more than 40 mu m were prepared successfully by using the polyethylenimine (PEI)-assisted preheating hydrothermal method (PAPHT). Several important synthetic parameters such as PEI content, growth time, preheating time and zinc salt concentration were found to determine the growth of ultralong ZnO nanowire arrays, including length, diameter, density and alignment degree. The photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of as-grown ultralong ZnO nanowire arrays revealed a UV emission and a yellow emission, which was attributed to the absorbed hydroxyl group based on the peak shift after annealing in various atmospheres. The performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) increased with increasing length of ZnO nanowire arrays, which was mainly ascribed to the aggrandized photocurrent and reduced recombination loss according to electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). A maximum efficiency of 1.3% for a cell with a short-circuit current density (J(sc)) = 4.26 mA cm(2), open-circuit voltage (V-oc) = 0.69 V and (fill factor) FF = 0.42 was achieved with a length of 40 mu m.</P>

        Mechanical Performance of 3D-Printing Plastic Honeycomb Sandwich Structure

        In this study, Bi-Grid, Tri-Grid, Quadri-Grid and Kagome-Grid honeycombs were designed and fabricated using 3D printing technology Sandwich composites were prepared by gluing the cores and composite face sheets together. Mechanical performance of the sandwich structures were characterized using finite element analysis and three-point bending test. Results indicate that when suffering from bending loads, the stress concentrations are located at the loading zone on upper face sheets (distributed in both sides of the indenter) and supporting zone on bottom face sheets, and the stress concentration zones of the honeycomb cores are located in the area that between indenter and supports. The failure mechanism of the Bi-Grid sandwich structure is interfacial de-bonding between composite face sheet and Bi-Grid core, and the failure modes of the Tri-Grid, Quadri-Grid and Kagome-Grid are core shear. The mechanical performance of Quadri-Grid sandwich structure is better than that of the other three structures.

        Coptis chinensis Polysaccharides Inhibit Advanced Glycation End Product Formation

        Coptis chinensis Franch (Huanglian) is commonly used to treat diabetes in China. In this study, the effects of the C. chinensis Franch polysaccharides (CCP) on advanced glycation end product (AGE) formation in vitro and in streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice were investigated. CCP significantly inhibited all the three periods of nonenzymatic protein glycation in vitro, including Amadori product, dicarbonyl compound, and AGE formation (P < .01). In diabetic mice, the administration of CCP not only improved both bodyweight and serum insulin and decreased fasting blood glucose and glycated serum protein concentrations but also decreased the AGE accumulations and morphological abnormalities in pancreas and liver. The inhibitory effects of CCP on AGE formation afford a potential therapeutic use in the prevention and treatment of diabetes.

        Colonization study of gfp-tagged Achromobacter marplatensis strain in sugar beet

        This study details the introduction of a gfp marker into anendophytic bacterial strain (Achromobacter marplatensisstrain 17, isolated from sugar beet) to monitor its colonizationof sugar beet (Beta. vulgaris L.). Stability of the plasmidencoding the gfp was confirmed in vitro for at least 72 h ofbacterial growth and after the colonization of tissues, undernonselective conditions. The colonization was observed usingfluorescence microscopy and enumeration of culturableendophytes in inoculated sugar beet plants that grew for 10or 20 days. gfp-Expressing strains were re-isolated from theinner tissues of surface-sterilized roots and stems of inoculatedplants, and the survival of the Achromobacter marplatensis17:gfp strain in plants 20 days after inoculation, evenin the absence of selective pressure, suggests that it is goodcolonizer. These results also suggest that this strain could bea useful tool for the delivery of enzymes or other proteinsinto plants. In addition, the study highlights that sugar beetplants can be used effectively for detailed in vitro studies onthe interactions between A. marplatensis strain 17 and its host,particularly if a gfp-tagged strain of the pathogen is used.
