Xiang-Quan Xie,Kui-Cheng Zheng,Bing-Shan Wu,Tie-Hui Chen,Shan-Rong Lai,Zai-Sheng Lin,Kazuo Aoki 대한예방의학회 2014 Journal of Preventive Medicine and Public Health Vol.47 No.5
Objectives: In Fujian Province, China, gastric cancer is one of the leading causes of mortality among all malignant tumors. Nanjing county and Minqing county are located in inland Fujian and have similar general demographics. However, the adjusted mortality rate of gastric cancer in Minqing was found to be much higher than that in Nanjing. We sought to explore factors associated with this increasedrisk of gastric cancer between the two counties. Methods: We recruited 231 and 224 residents from Nanjing and Minqing, respectively, and analyzed differences between their dietary habits, Helicobacter pylori infection rates, and concentrations of serum pepsinogen I, pepsinogen II, gastrin-17, and ratio of pepsinogenI:II. Results: Subjects in Minqing had more first-degree relatives who had been diagnosed with upper gastrointestinal tumor, more unhealthydietary habits, a higher Helicobacter pylori positive rate, and greater proportion of abnormal serum gastrin-17 than those in Nanjing did. Conclusions: The factors that differed between these two counties might indicate that residents in Minqing have a higher risk for developinggastric cancer than those in Nanjing do.
Fuzzy Ideals Extensions in Semigroups
XIANG YUN XIE 경북대학교 자연과학대학 수학과 2002 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.42 No.1
In this paper, we shall introduce the notions of fuzzy ideal extension property, strongly fuzzy extension property and fuzzy property of a semigroup S. We also discuss the relations of these fuzzy ideal extension poperties and some properties of semigroups with the fuzzy ideal extension prorerty. Furthermore, we prove that a semigroup has the ideal extension property if and only if S has the strongly fuzzy ideal extension property. As an application of the results of this paper, we obtain characterizations of cyclic semigroups

The aim of this paper is to study order-congruences on a S-poset A and to characterize the order-congruences by the concepts of pseudooreders on A and quasi-chains module a congruence p. Some homomorphism theorems of S-posets are given which is similar to the one of ordered semigroups. Finally, It is shown that there exists the non-trivial order-congruence on a S-poset by an example.

Abstract

The paper provides relaxed designs of fault estimation observer for nonlinear dynamical plants in the Takagi–Sugeno form. Compared with previous theoretical achievements, a modified version of fuzzy fault estimation observer is implemented with the aid of the so-called maximum-priority-based switching law. Given each activated switching status, the appropriate group of designed matrices can be provided so as to explore certain key properties of the considered plants by means of introducing a set of matrix-valued variables. Owing to the reason that more abundant information of the considered plants can be updated in due course and effectively exploited for each time instant, the conservatism of the obtained result is less than previous theoretical achievements and thus the main defect of those existing methods can be overcome to some extent in practice. Finally, comparative simulation studies on the classical nonlinear truck-trailer model are given to certify the benefits of the theoretic achievement which is obtained in our study.

Highlights

A modified fuzzy fault estimation observer is developed by the aid of a maximum-priority-based switching law.

The criterion takes the form of an LMI which is computationally tractable.

The obtained observer design conditions are less conservative.

A Low-Complexity and High-Quality Image Compression Method for Digital Cameras
Xiang Xie,Guolin Li,Zhihua Wang 한국전자통신연구원 2006 ETRI Journal Vol.28 No.2
This letter proposes a new near-lossless image compression method with only one line buffer cost for a digital camera with Bayer format image. For such format data, it can provide a low average compression rate (4.24bits/pixel) with high-image quality (larger than 46.37dB where the error of every pixel is less than two). The experimental results show that the near-lossless compression method has better performance than JPEG-LS (lossless) with δ = 2 for a Bayer format image.

The number of axillary lymph nodes involved and retrieved are important prognostic factors in breast cancer. The purpose of our study was to investigate whether the lymph node ratio (LNR) is a better prognostic factor in predicting disease-free survival (DFS) for breast cancer patients as compared with pN staging. The analysis was based on 804 breast cancer patients who had underwent axillary lymph node dissection between 1999 and 2008 in Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center. Optimal cutoff points of LNR were calculated using X-tile software and validated by bootstrapping. Patients were then divided into three groups (low-, intermediate-, and high-risk) according to the cutoff points. Predicting risk factors for relapse were performed according to Cox proportional hazards analysis. DFS was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and compared by the log-rank test. The 5-year DFS rate decreased significantly with increasing LNRs and pN. Univariate analysis found that the pT, pN, LNR, molecule type, HER2, pTNM stage and radiotherapy well classified patients with significantly different prognosis. By multivariate analysis, only LNR classification was retained as an independent prognostic factor. Furthermore, there was a significant prognostic difference among different LNR categories for pN2 category, but no apparent prognostic difference was seen between different pN categories in any LNR category. Therefore, LNR rather than pN staging is preferable in predicting DFS in node positive breast cancer patients, and routine clinical decision-making should take the LNR into consideration.

Gemcitabine (GEM) is one of the first-line chemotherapies for bladder cancer (BC), but the GEMs cannot recognize cancer cells and have a low long-term response rate and high recurrence rate with side effects during the treatment of BC. Targeted transport of GEMs to mediate cytotoxicity to tumor and avoid the systemic side effects remains a challenge in the treatment of BC.Based on a firstly confirmed biomarker in BC-protein tyrosine kinase 7 (PTK7), which is overexpressed on the cell membrane surface in BC cells, a novel targeting system protein tyrosine kinase 7 aptamer-Gemcitabine conjugate (PTK7-GEMs) was designed and synthesized using a specific PTK7 aptamer and GEM through auto-synthesis method to deliver GEM against BC. In addition, the antitumor effects and safety evaluation of PTK7-GEMs was assessed with a series of in vitro and in vivo assays.PTK7-GEMs can specifically bind and enter to BC cells dependent on the expression levels of PTK7 and via the macropinocytosis pathway, which induced cytotoxicity after GEM cleavage from PTK7-GEMs respond to the intracellular phosphatase. Moreover, PTK7-GEMs showed stronger anti-tumor efficacy and excellent biosafety in three types of tumor xenograft mice models. These results demonstrated that PTK7-GEMs is a successful targeted aptamer-drug conjugates strategy (APDCs) to treat BC, which will provide new directions for the precision treatment of BC in the field of biomarker-oriented tumor targeted therapy.
Microstructure and Antibacterial Activity of Phosphonium Montmorillonites
Xie, Agui,Yan, Wenyan,Zeng, Xianshen,Dai, Guangjian,Tan, Shaozao,Cai, Xiang,Wu, Ting Korean Chemical Society 2011 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.32 No.6
Phosphonium montmorillonites (P-MMTs) were prepared by intercalating dodecyl tributyl phosphonium salt into sodium montmorillonite (Na-MMT) through an ion-exchange method. Microstructure and antibacterial activity of phosphonium montmorillonites were studied by FT-IR, TGA, XRD and Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC), respectively. The results show that phosphonium montmorillonites exhibit higher thermal stability than conventional ammonium montmorillonites, the onset temperature of decomposition is higher than 300 $^{\circ}C$, and the basal spacing of phosphonium montmorillonites is enlarged compared to that of sodium montmorillonite. Phosphonium montmorillonites also show good antibacterial activity with the MIC against E. coli and S. aureus of 150 and 50 $mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$, respectively.
