Estimates of Hyperbolic Metric with Applications to Teichmuller Spaces
2002 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.42 No.1
We show a monotonicity property of the hyperbolic metric of a punctured rectangular torus. We will then deduce a lower estimate of the hyperbolic metric of the domain C\{0,1}. We also determine the value of hyperbolic sup-norm of standard quadratic differentials on the once-punctured square torus or the symmetric four-times punctured sphere. This enables us to compute numerically the inner and outer radii of the Bers embedding of the corrdesponding Teichmuller space under the hypothesis of some conjectural properties of it
Holomorphic Distribution on Pseudo-Einstein Real Hypersurfaces of a Complex Space Form
2003 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.43 No.3
In this paper we characterize pseudo-Einstein real hypersurfaces of a non-flat complex space form under certain conditions on the holomorphic distribution.
Extension Dimension of Stratifiable Spaces
2003 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.43 No.3
We prove a theorem on the existence of extension dimension for stratifiable spaces relative to the class of all CW-complexes. Since the class of stratifiable spaces contains that of metrizable spaces, then our result applies to metrizable spaces. In order to achieve this we introduce the class of so called dd-spaces. We define X to be a dd-space if it has the property that dimX K for every contractible CW-complex K . A wedge theorem for dd-spaces is then shown to be true. This is used in proving that the extension dimension of a given stratifiable space is always represented by a certain wedge of polyhedra. We also show that our techniques would apply to determine the existence of extension dimension for any class of compact Hausdorff spaces relative to the class of all CW-complexes.
On a Linear Combination of Classes of Multivalently Harmonic Functions
2002 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.42 No.1
New classes of multivalent harmonic functions are introduced. We give sufficient coefficient conditions for these classes. These coefficient conditions are shown to be also necessary if certain restrictions are imposed on the coefficients of these harmonic functions. Furthermore, we determine a representation theorem, inclusion relations, and distortion bounds for these functions.
Incomparability and Transitivity
2002 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.42 No.1
In this paper we discuss a dimension (parallel dimension) of pogroupoids associated with posets and relate it to their pogroupoid algebras. This dimension is also an invariant of the incomparability graph (Harris diagram) of the poset under graph isomorphism (incomparability preserving bijection or bijective Harris mappings on the poset). This bijective mappings include but are not restructed to order-isomorphisms and provide other insights into the structure of the poset from the diagram point of view.
On Perturbed Mid-point and Trapezoid Inequalities and Applications
2003 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.43 No.3
An improvement of perturbed trapezoid inequality is derived. Some related results for the mid-point and trapezoid inequalities are established. Applications in numerical integration are also given.
On Recurrent Riemannian Manifolds
2004 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.44 No.2
Recurrent spaces have been of great interest and were studied by a large num-ber of authors such as Ruse ([3]), Patterson ([2]), Singh and Khan ([4], [5]) etc. In this paper, I have discussed the nature of 1-form for non-zero constant scalar curvature and non-constant scalar curvature r in a Ricci recurrent Riemannian manifold. I have obtained some results for conharmonic curvature tensor and also investigated some results for (1,3) type tensors in a Riemannian manifold.
Complementary Cycles in Regular Multipartite Tournaments, Where One Cycle Has Length Four
2004 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.44 No.2
The vertex set of a digraph D is denoted by V(D). A c-partite tournament is an orientation of a complete c-partite graph. In 1999, Yeo conjectured that each regular c-partite tournament D with c 4 and jV(D)j 8 contains a pair of vertex disjoint directed cycles of lengths 4 and jV(D)j 4. An example will demonstrate that Yeo’s conjecture is not true in general for regular 4-partite tournaments with two vertices in each partite. However, in all other cases we shall confirm this conjecture in affirmative.
Approximate Solutions to the Two-cell Cubic Autocatalytic Reaction Model
H. I. Abdel-Gawad,A. 2004 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.44 No.2
By using an approach developed by one of the authors, approximate solutions of the initial value problem for the reaction diffusion equations in two cells are obtained. The system is considered here with two chemical species, species A and the autocatalyst B. The reaction is taken to be cubic in the autocatalysis in the rst region with linear exchange through A. In the rst region, the autocatalyst is taken to decay linearly. Approximate solutions are found through the Picard iterative sequence of solutions. The space and time variations of the concentration of the species A and B are evaluated in the two regions. The oscillation of the concentrations in times has been observed in different locations. This phenomena is stepped out for relatively large times. Comparison between two consecutive solutions is made. The maximum error estimate is of order for some appropriate time period. At this time level, the solutions obtained are adequate for laboratory simulation experiments to open systems. It is observed that no initiation to travelling waves occurs whenever the initial values of the concentrations of the reactant(or the autocatalysts) are not periodic.
