Vortex induced vibration and its controlling of long span Cross-Rope Suspension transmission line with tension insulator

        Xi Tu,Ye Wu,Zhengliang Li,Zhisong Wang 국제구조공학회 2021 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.78 No.1

Long span cross-rope suspension structure is an innovative structural system evolved from typical Cross-Rope Suspension (CRS) guyed tower, a type of supporting system with short span suspension cable supporting overhead power transmission lines. In mountainous areas, the span length of suspension cable was designed to be extended to hundreds or over one thousand meters, which is applicable for crossing deep valleys. Vortex Induced Vibration (VIV) of overhead power transmission lines was considered to be one of the major factors of its fatigue and service life. In this paper, VIV and its controlling by Stockbridge damper for long span CRS was discussed. Firstly, energy balance method and finite element method for assessing VIV of CRS were presented. An approach of establishing FE model of long span CRS structure with dampers was introduced. The effect of Stockbridge damper for overall vibration of CRS was compared in both theoretical and numerical approaches. Results indicated that vibration characteristics of conductor in long span CRS compared with traditional tower-line system. Secondly, analysis on long span CRS including Stockbridge damper showed additional dampers installed were essential for controlling maximum dynamic bending stresses of conductors at both ends. Moreover, factors, including configuration and mass of Stockbridge damper, span length of suspension cable and conductor and number of spans of conductor, were assessed for further discussion on VIV controlling of long span CRS.

A multiscale numerical simulation approach for chloride diffusion and rebar corrosion with compensation model

Xi Tu,Zhengliang Li,Airong Chen,Zichao Pan 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2018 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.21 No.4

Refined analysis depicting mass transportation and physicochemical reaction and reasonable computing load with acceptable DOFs are the two major challenges of numerical simulation for concrete durability. Mesoscopic numerical simulation for chloride diffusion considering binder, aggregate and interfacial transition zone is unable to be expended to the full structure due to huge number of DOFs. In this paper, a multiscale approach of combining both mesoscopic model including full-graded aggregate and equivalent macroscopic model was introduced. An equivalent conversion of chloride content at the Interfacial Transition Layer (ITL) connecting both models was considered. Feasibility and relative error were discussed by analytical deduction and numerical simulation. Case study clearly showed that larger analysis model in multiscale model expanded the diffusion space of chloride ion and decreased chloride content in front of rebar. Difference for single-scale simulation and multiscale approach was observed. Finally, this paper addressed some worth-noting conclusions about the chloride distribution and rebar corrosion regarding the configuration of rebar placement, rebar diameter, concrete cover and exposure period.

Numerical study of ITZ contribution on diffusion of chloride and induced rebar corrosion: A discussion of three-dimensional multiscale approach

Xi Tu,Cunjun Pang,Xuhong Zhou,Airong Chen 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2019 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.23 No.1

Modeling approach for mesoscopic model of concrete depicting mass transportation and physicochemical reaction is important since there is growing demand for accuracy and computational efficiency of numerical simulation. Mesoscopic numerical simulation considering binder, aggregate and interfacial transition zone (ITZ) generally produces huge number of DOFs, which is inapplicable for full structure. In this paper, a three-dimensional multiscale approach describing three-phase structure of concrete was discussed numerically. An effective approach generating random aggregate in polygon based on checking centroid distance and intersection of line segment was introduced. Moreover, ITZ elements were built by parallel expanding the surface of aggregates on inner side. By combining mesoscopic model including full-graded aggregate and macroscopic model, cases related to diffusivity and thickness of ITZ, volume fraction and grade of aggregate were studied regarding the consideration of multiscale compensation. Result clearly showed that larger analysis model in multiscale model expanded the diffusion space of chloride ion and decreased chloride content in front of rebar. Finally, this paper addressed some worth-noting conclusions about the chloride distribution and rebar corrosion regarding the configuration of, rebar diameter, concrete cover and exposure period.

Performance-based Analysis of Elastoplastic Rotational Behavior of Multi-cell Shaped Concrete-filled Steel Tubular Connection

        Xi Chen,Jian-yang Xue,Hechao Li,Guangxu Tu,Xin Lu 대한토목학회 2023 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.27 No.10

Experimental and theoretical research on the rotational behavior of Multi-cell shaped concrete-filled steel tubular (MCFST) connection under low-period cyclic load is performed. The experimental results showed that the design parameters had significant effects on the elastic rotational stiffness of the connection, and affected the sequence and position of the plastic hinges appearance at the column and beam ends. Furthermore, the damage mechanism of the plastic hinge lines is obtained, and the simultaneous yielding for the plastic hinges results in the rapid increase of the beam end rotation. In order to handle the problem with irregular geometry boundary and uneven distribution of tightening-ring stresses a differential element of an unified material is proposed considering the effective tightening-ring stresses of special-shaped steel tube on confined concrete, which can be used to analyse the whole mechanical and damage performance of the connection. Combining unified design theory and experimental results, the calculation for the elastic bending rigidity of the connection is obtained. Finally, the moment-rotation relation model of the connection is proposed by regression analysis on experimental results, and the theoretical results are observed to agree well with the experimental results.

      • Numerical simulation approach for structural capacity of corroded reinforced concrete bridge

        Zhou, Xuhong,Tu, Xi,Chen, Airong,Wang, Yuqian Techno-Press 2019 Advances in concrete construction Vol.7 No.1

A comprehensive assessing approach for durability of reinforced concrete structures dealing with the corrosion process of rebar subjected to the attack of aggressive agent from environment was proposed in this paper. Corrosion of rebar was suggested in the form of combination of global corrosion and pitting. Firstly, for the purposed of considering the influence of rebar's radius, a type of Plane Corrosion Model (PCM) based on uniform corrosion of rebar was introduced. By means of FE simulation approach, global corrosion process of rebar regarding PCM and LCM (Linear Corrosion Model) was regressed and compared according to the data from Laboratoire $Mat{\acute{e}}riaux$ et $Durabilit{\acute{e}}$ des Constructions (LMDC). Secondly, pitting factor model of rebar in general descend law with corrosion degree was introduced in terms of existing experimental data. Finally, with the comprehensive numerical simulation, the durability of an existing arch bridge was studied in depth in deterministic way, including diffusion process and sectional strength of typical cross section of arch, crossbeam and deck slab. Evolution of structural capacity considering life-cycle rehabilitation strategy indicated the degradation law of durability of reinforced arch bridges.

      • HOCl Oxidation-modified CT26 Cell Vaccine Inhibits Colon Tumor Growth in a Mouse Model

        Zhou, Rui,Huang, Wen-Jun,Ma, Cong,Zhou, Yan,Yao, Yu-Qin,Wang, Yu-Xi,Gou, Lan-Tu,Yi, Chen,Yang, Jin-Liang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.8

Despite progress in elucidating mechanisms associated with colorectal cancer and improvement of treatment methods, it remains a frequent cause of death worldwide. New and more effective therapies are therefore urgently needed. Recent studies have shown that immunogenicity of whole ovarian tumor cells and subsequent T cell response were potentiated by oxidation modification with hypochlorous acid (HOCl) in vitro and ex vivo. These results prompted us to investigate the protective antitumor response with an HOCl treated CT26 colorectal cancer cell vaccine in an in vivo mouse model. Administration of HOCl modified vaccine triggered robust antitumor immunity to autologous tumor cells in mice and prolonged survival period significantly. In addition, increased necrosis and apoptosis were found in tumor tissue from the oxidation group. Interestingly, ELISPOT assays showed that specific T cell responses were not elicited in response to the immunizing cellular antigen, in contrast to raising sera antibody titer and antibody binding activity shown by ELISA assay and flow cytometry. Further evaluation of the mechanisms underlying HOCl modified vaccine mediated humoral immunity highlighted the role of antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity. These results combined with previous studies suggest that HOCl oxidation modified whole cell vaccine has wide applicability as a cancer vaccine because it can target both T cell- and B cell-specific responses. It may thus represent a promising approach for the immunotherapy of colorectal cancer.
