      • Synchronous immobilization and conversion of polysulfides on a VO2-VN binary host targeting high sulfur load Li-S batteries

        Song, Yingze,Zhao, Wen,Kong, Long,Zhang, Li,Zhu, Xingyu,Shao, Yuanlong,Ding, Feng,Zhang, Qiang,Sun, Jingyu,Liu, Zhongfan The Royal Society of Chemistry 2018 ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE Vol.11 No.9

<P>Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries are deemed as one of the most promising next-generation energy storage systems. However, their practical application is hindered by existing drawbacks such as poor cycling life and low Coulombic efficiency due to the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs). We herein present an <I>in situ</I> constructed VO2-VN binary host which combines the merits of ultrafast anchoring (VO2) with electronic conducting (VN) to accomplish smooth immobilization-diffusion-conversion of LiPSs. Such synchronous advantages have effectively alleviated the polysulfide shuttling, promoted the redox kinetics, and hence improved the electrochemical performance of Li-S batteries. As a result, the sulfur cathode based on the VO2-VN/graphene host exhibited an impressive rate capability with ∼1105 and 935 mA h g−1 at 1C and 2C, respectively, and maintained long-term cyclability with a low capacity decay of 0.06% per cycle within 800 cycles at 2C. More remarkably, favorable cyclic stability can be attained with a high sulfur loading (13.2 mg cm−2). Even at an elevated temperature (50 °C), the cathodes still delivered superior rate capacity. Our work emphasizes the importance of immobilization-diffusion-conversion of LiPSs toward the rational design of high-load and long-life Li-S batteries.</P>

Antimony Selenide Nanorods Decorated on Reduced Graphene Oxide with Excellent Electrochemical Properties for Li-Ion Batteries

        Wang, Xia,Wang, Hong,Li, Qiang,Li, Hongsen,Xu, Jie,Zhao, Guoxia,Li, Hongliang,Guo, Peizhi,Li, Shandong,Sun, Yang-kook The Electrochemical Society 2017 Journal of the Electrochemical Society Vol.164 No.13

<P>A promising anode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) consisting of Sb2Se3 nanorods and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) sheets has been prepared by an effective solvothermal approach. The synergetic effect between Sb2Se3 nanorods and rGO matrix provides not only high conductivity paths and strong electron contact interface, but also alleviates the volume change of Sb2Se3 nanorods, resulting in excellent lithium-storage performance. When tested as an anode material for LIBs, a high capacity of 868.30 mAh g(-1) can be retained after 100 cycles at 200 mA g(-1). Even at 2000 mA g(-1), a satisfactory capacity of 430.40 mAh g(-1) after long 550 cycles can be delivered. Ex situ X-ray diffraction study suggests that the Sb2Se3/rGO composite follows the combined Li+ intercalation, conversion reaction and alloying reaction mechanism. These features suggest the Sb2Se3/rGO composite a viable choice for application as an anode material in high-performance LIBs. (C) 2017 The Electrochemical Society. All rights reserved.</P>

Effects of reactive oxidants generation and capacitance on photoelectrochemical water disinfection with self-doped titanium dioxide nanotube arrays

        Cho, Kangwoo,Lee, Seonggeun,Kim, Hyeonjeong,Kim, Hyung-Eun,Son, Aseom,Kim, Eun-ju,Li, Mengkai,Qiang, Zhimin,Hong, Seok Won Elsevier BV 2019 Applied Catalysis B Vol.257 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We herein provide photoelectrochemical (PEC) disinfection activities of anodically prepared TiO2 nanotube (TNT) arrays (diameter ˜ 100 nm, length ˜ 16 μm on average) that were electrochemically self-doped before (bk-TNT) and after (bl-TNT) an atmospheric annealing at 450 °C. The X-ray diffraction indicated predominating anatase TiO2 signal on bl-TNT, while substantial lattice distortion was noticed for bk-TNT. Although the X-ray photoelectron spectra indicated negligible Ti3+ on surface of both TNTs, linear sweep (cyclic) voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectrometry confirmed the bk-TNT to show greater double layer capacitance and overall photocurrent, coupled with lower charge transfer resistance. Nevertheless, the PEC disinfection of <I>E. coli</I> was significantly invigorated on bl-TNT, while the bactericidal rates in tap water were comparable or even far greater than those in 0.1 M Na2SO4 solutions, depending on [<I>E. coli</I>]0 (105 or 107 CFU/mL). Under a presumed diffusion-controlled kinetic regime in this study, observed effects of capacitance and electrolyte could be interpreted in terms of electrostatic interaction between the electrical double layer of photoanodes and charged bio-solids, such as repulsion by co-ions (SO4 2−) and adsorption/surface blocking. Analogous PEC experiments on model organic compounds degradation (4-chlorophenol and methylene blue) corroborated a long-term stability of the bl-TNT (up to 30 consecutive cycles) and the role of surface hydroxyl radical as the primary oxidant.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Self-doped anatase (bl-TNT) and amorphous TiO2 nanotube (bk-TNT) were interrogated. </LI> <LI> Lower double layer capacitance of bl-TNT led to higher PEC disinfection of <I>E. coli</I>. </LI> <LI> PEC bactericidal rates in tap water were similar or greater than in Na2SO4 solution. </LI> <LI> Electrostatic interaction between photoanode and bio-solids determined the kinetics. </LI> <LI> Commercial applicability for point-of-use disinfection was demonstrated. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Preconditioning of canine adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells with deferoxamine potentiates anti-inflammatory effects by directing/reprogramming M2 macrophage polarization

        Park, Su-Min,Li, Qiang,Ryu, Min-Ok,Nam, Aryung,An, Ju-Hyun,Yang, Ji-In,Kim, Sang-Min,Song, Woo-Jin,Youn, Hwa-Young Elsevier 2020 Veterinary immunology and immunopathology Vol. No.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Preconditioning with hypoxia or hypoxia-mimetic agents has been tried with mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to improve the secretion of anti-inflammatory factors. These preconditioning procedures upregulate hypoxia inducible factor (HIF) 1-alpha leading to the transcription of HIF-dependent tissue protective and anti-inflammatory genes. Due to the limited number of studies exploring the activity of deferoxamine (DFO)—a hypoxia-mimetic agent—in MSCs, we aimed to determine whether DFO can enhance the secretion of anti-inflammatory substances in canine adipose tissue-derived (cAT)-MSCs. Furthermore, we investigated whether this activity of DFO could affect macrophage polarization and activate anti-inflammatory reactions. cAT-MSCs preconditioned with DFO exhibited enhanced secretion of anti-inflammatory factors such as prostaglandin E2 and tumor necrosis factor-α-stimulated gene-6. To evaluate the interaction between DFO preconditioned cAT-MSCs and macrophages, RAW 264.7 cells were co-cultured with cAT-MSCs using the Transwell system, and changes in the expression of factors related to macrophage polarization were analyzed using the quantitative real-time PCR and western blot assays. When RAW 264.7 cells were co-cultured with DFO preconditioned cAT-MSCs, the expression of M1 and M2 markers decreased and increased, respectively, compared to co-culturing with non-preconditioned cAT-MSCs. Thus, cAT-MSCs preconditioned with DFO can more effectively direct and reprogram macrophage polarization into the M2 phase, an anti-inflammatory state.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Deferoxamine enhances the secretion of anti-inflammatory substances in cAT-MSCs. </LI> <LI> DFO preconditioned cAT-MSCs exhibit enhanced prostaglandin E2 and TSG-6 secretion. </LI> <LI> DFO preconditioned cAT-MSCs reprogram macrophage polarization into the M2 phase. </LI> <LI> Preconditioning of cAT-MSCs with DFO may be applicable clinically. </LI> </UL> </P>

      • Activation of formyl CH and hydroxyl OH bonds in HMF by the CuO(1 1 1) and Co3O4(1 1 0) surfaces: A DFT study

        Ren, Jun,Song, Kai-he,Li, Zhenhuan,Wang, Qiang,Li, Jun,Wang, Yingxiong,Li, Debao,Kim, Chan Kyung Elsevier 2018 APPLIED SURFACE SCIENCE - Vol.456 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The first principle calculations with on-site Coulomb repulsion U terms were carried out to investigate the 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) adsorption on the CuO(1 1 1) and Co3O4(1 1 0) surfaces, two widely used oxidation catalysts. The adsorption of HMF molecule is energetically favoured in both cases, and HMF is more inclined to bridge adsorption via hydroxyl and formyl groups binding with surface O and metal sites. Moreover, the adsorption energy relies on both the coordination type of surface lattice oxygen to which the H atom binds and the formation of H-bond involving hydroxyl and formyl groups on the adsorbed HMF. Also, the hydroxyl OH bond breaking is very easy and is likely to be the first step in HMF oxidation, and then the OH insertion reaction to produce 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA). The corresponding experimental results also show that the CuO and Co3O4 surfaces are promising candidate catalysts.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> CuO(1 1 1) and Co3O4(1 1 0) surfaces catalyze the oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF). </LI> <LI> Initial binding was formed through bridged-adsorption with O atoms in HMF. </LI> <LI> Oxidation reaction proceeds through the OH bond breaking pathway. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>Schematic potential energy diagram for the formyl CH and hydroxyl OH bonds of HMF dissociation on CuO(1 1 1) and Co3O4(1 1 0) surfaces. 黎族植物染色技艺的文化意蕴及当代传承

        黎珏辰(Li Juechen),?强(Chen Qiang) 동아인문학회 2019 동아인문학 Vol.49 No.-

Hainan Li nationality’s plant dyeing technology has a long history. Its cultural implication is embodied in three aspects: primitive thinking, color concept and health concept. These three aspects reflect the “son of nature” Li nationality"s life attitude and code of conduct which originated from nature, followed nature, integrated with nature and returned to nature. In the modernization process of Li nationality society, the inheritance of the dyeing techniques of Li nationality plants faces two major challenges: insufficient sources of dyes and insufficient successors of dyeing techniques. Thanks to the efforts of the local government and all sectors of society, these two major problems are being solved. Under the background of modern fast-paced life, the inheritors of Li nationality"s plant dyeing technique fight the coldness of mechanical age with concentration and craft. This kind of life aesthetics can enlighten people living in the industrial age with increasingly mechanical and monotonous life style, and urge them to pursue the natural and plain life style in line with the requirements of ecological aesthetics.

      • Proteomic Analysis of the Aging-related Proteins in Human Normal Colon Epithelial Tissue

        Li, Ming,Xiao, Zhi-Qiang,Chen, Zhu-Chu,Li, Jian-Ling,Li, Cui,Zhang, Peng-Fei,Li, Mao-Yu Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2007 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.40 No.1

In order to screen the aging related proteins in human normal colon epithelia, the comparative proteomics analysis was applied to get the two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE) profiles with high resolution and reproducibility from normal colon epithelial tissues of young and aged people. Differential proteins between the colon epithelia of two age groups were found with PDQuest software. The thirty five differential protein-spots were identified by peptide mass fingerprint (PMF) based on matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOFMS) and database searching. Among them there are sixteen proteins which are significantly up-regulated in the colonic mucosal epithelia of young people group, which include ATP synthase beta chain, electron transfer flavoprotein alpha-subunit, catalase, glutathione peroxidase 1, annexin A2 and heat shock cognate 71 kDa protein, etc.; There are nineteen proteins which are significantly up-regulated in the colonic mucosal epithelia of aged people group, which include far upstream element-binding protein 1, nucleoside diphosphate kinase B, protein disulfide-isomerase precursor and VDAC-2, etc.. The identified differential proteins appear to be involved in metabolism, energy generation, chaperone, antioxidation, signal transduction, protein folding and apoptosis. The data will help to understand the molecular mechanisms of human colon epithelial aging.

Study on transient performance of tilting-pad thrust bearings in nuclear pump considering fluid-structure interaction

        Qiang Li,Bin Li,Xiuwei Li,Quntao Xie,Qinglei Liu,Weiwei Xu Korean Nuclear Society 2023 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.55 No.6

To study the lubrication performance of tilting-pad thrust bearing (TPTBs) during start-up in nuclear pump, a hydrodynamic lubrication model of TPTBs was established based on the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method and the fluid-structure interaction (FSI) technique. Further, a mesh motion algorithm for the transient calculation of thrust bearings was developed based on the user defined function (UDF). The result demonstrated that minimum film thickness increases first and then decreases with the rotational speed under start-up condition. The influence of pad tilt on minimum film thickness is greater than that of collar movement at low speed, and the establishment of dynamic pressure mainly depends on pad tilt and minimum film thickness increases. As the increase of rotational speed, the influence of pad tilt was abated, where the influence of the moving of the collar dominated gradually, and minimum film thickness decreases. For TPTBs, the circumferential angle of the pad is always greater than the radial angle. When the rotational speed is constant, the change rate of radial angle is greater than that of circumferential angle with the increase of loading forces. This study can provide reference for improving bearing wear resistance.
