        Breviscapine Ameliorates Fear Extinction and Anxiety in BALB/cJ Mice

        Objective In this research, the influence of breviscapine on anxiety, fear elimination, and aggression and the potential mechanism was investigated. Methods Anxiety and locomotion were analyzed by elevated plus maze and open field test in mice. Bussey-Saksida Mouse Touch Screen Chambers were used to perform fear conditioning. Territorial aggression was assessed by resident intruder test. Protein levels were evaluated by Western blot. Breviscapine improved fear-extinction learning in BALB/cJ mice. Results Breviscapine at 20-100 mg/kg increased center cross number, total distance traveled, and velocity in a dose-dependent manner. On the other hand, breviscapine at 20-100 mg/kg decreased the immobility time in open field test. In addition, breviscapine at 20-100 mg/kg increased the ratio of time on the open arm, time on the distal parts of the open arm, and total distance traveled in elevated plus maze. Breviscapine at 100 mg/kg increased the average attack latency and decreased the number of attacks over the last 3 days of resident intruder test. In hippocampus, protein levels of postsynaptic density protein-95 and synaptophysin were elevated by breviscapine at these three doses. Conclusion The administration of breviscapine alleviates fear extinction, anxiety, and aggression, while increases locomotor in a dose-dependent manner, which might be associated with its influence on synaptic function.

      • Analysis of Indoleamine 2-3 Dioxygenase (IDO) and EGFR Co-expression in Breast Cancer Tissue by Immunohistochemistry

        Background: To determine the amount of co-expression of IDO and EGFR in breast cancer patients. Materials and Methods:In order to obtain the distribution of co-expression of IDO and EGFR in breast cancer, we tested 110 breast cancer paraffin tissue blocks with immunohistochemical methods. Then we investigated the relationship between the diagnostic and pathologic characteristics (tumor size, lymph node status, histologic grade, the gene expression of ER, PR, HER2, p53, Ki67 and PCNA) with the situation of co-expression of IDO and EGFR by reviewing the medical records of 32 breast cancer patients. Results: Among 110 breast cancers, 32 cases demonstrated IDO and EGFR co-expression (29.1%), IDO and EGFR synchronous co-expression being found in 19.1% and asynchronous in 10.0%. Conclusions: IDO and EGFR were co-expressed in breast cancer, including synchronous and asynchronous co-expression. The results suggest that considering IDO and EGFR as two indicators for breast cancer treatment or prognosis analysis provides a potential option of individual treatment for the portion of breast cancer patients with co-expression of IDO and EGFR.

      • Exploring Actinide Chemistry through Synchrotron Radiation Techniques

        Synchrotron radiation (SR) based techniques have been utilized with increasing frequency in the past several decades to explore the brilliant and challenging actinide chemistry. This trend is much driven by the needs to probe the electronic structure and chemical speciation as well as mapping of actinides in various media with high sensitivity. In this talk, recent research progresses on actinide related materials by means of various SR techniques were selectively highlighted and summarized, with the emphasis on X-ray absorption spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and scattering spectroscopy, which are powerful tools to characterize actinide microstructures. The considerations for design of dedicated beam-line for radiochemistry research in High Energy Photon Source (HEPS) will be also introduced.

        High-performance expanded graphite from flake graphite by microwave-assisted chemical intercalation process

        Herein, a facile preparation method with characteristics of energy-saving, efficient and environmentallyfriendly is proposed. Firstly, GICs (Graphite Intercalation Compounds) were synthesized by microwaveassisted hydrothermal method using flake graphite (FG) as raw material, H2SO4, and K2S2O8 as oxidativeintercalations by microwave-assisted oxidation for 5 min, and then EG was prepared from obtained GICsby microwave irradiation for 40 s under the microwave power of 800 W, and the effect of different processconditions on EG expansion volume (EV) was studied. The results show that EG with a good expansioncan be rapidly prepared by microwave irradiation, and the EV value can reach 455 mL /g under theoptimal conditions. In particular, the prepared EG has a high graphitization degree with less structuraldamage, exihibiting good industrial application prospects. The mechanism of K2S2O8 oxidation and graphiteexpansion under microwave irradiation was analyzed. In adition, flexible graphite foil papers preparedwith the obtained EG exhibit good electrical conductivity and thermal properties. The as preparedEG material shows an efficient adsorption of hydraulic oil and vegetable oil and excellent flame retardantperformance. This preparation method is green, low cost, and safe, and can be used for the efficient batchpreparation of EG.

      • Development of a Wireless Health Monitoring System for Measuring Core Body Temperature from the Back of the Body

        <P>In this paper, a user-friendly and low-cost wireless health monitoring system that measures skin temperature from the back of the body for monitoring the core body temperature is proposed. To measure skin temperature accurately, a semiconductor-based microtemperature sensor with a maximum accuracy of ±0.3°C was chosen and controlled by a high-performance/low-power consumption Acorn-Reduced Instruction Set Computing Machine (ARM) architecture microcontroller to build the temperature measuring device. Relying on a 2.4 GHz multichannel Gaussian frequency shift keying (GFSK) RF communication technology, up to 100 proposed temperature measuring devices can transmit the data to one receiver at the same time. The shell of the proposed wireless temperature-measuring device was manufactured via a 3D printer, and the device was assembled to conduct the performance tests and <I>in vivo</I> experiments. The performance test was conducted with a K-type temperature sensor in a temperature chamber to observe temperature measurement performance. The results showed an error value between two devices was less than 0.1°C from 25 to 40°C. For the <I>in vivo</I> experiments, the device was attached on the back of 10 younger male subjects to measure skin temperature to investigate the relationship with ear temperature. According to the experimental results, an algorithm based on the curve-fitting method was implemented in the proposed device to estimate the core body temperature by the measured skin temperature value. The algorithm was established as a linear model and set as a quadratic formula with an interpolant and with each coefficient for the equation set with 95% confidence bounds. For evaluating the goodness of fit, the sum of squares due to error (SSE), <I>R</I>-square, adjusted <I>R</I>-square, and root mean square error (RMSE) values were 33.0874, 0.0212, 0.0117, and 0.3998, respectively. As the experimental results have shown, the mean value for an error between ear temperature and estimated core body temperature is about ±0.19°C, and the mean bias is 0.05 ± 0.14°C when the subjects are in steady status.</P>

        1992년 한중 수교 이후부터 한국을 방문한 중국 관광객의 수가 지속적으로 늘어났다. 1993년의 10만 명을 이어 1998년에는 21만 명으로 급속히 증가했고, 한중교류의 해를 맞이한 2007년에 중국인 방한관광객은 100만 명을 돌파하였다. 지리적으로 가까운 나라임에도 사회주의 체제 아래에 있었던 중국은 사회, 경제적으로 ‘가깝고도 먼 나라’로만 존재하였다. 사회주의 경제체제를 내려놓은 중국은 이제 동북아시대의 거점 국가로 대두하고 있다. 2008년 북경올림픽 및 상해세계엑스포를 계기로 중국인의 삶의 질이 한층 더 높아지고 있다. 유럽에서도 중국 관광객의 씀씀이를 주목하기 시작했다. 중국 관광객을 잡기 위해 쇼핑을 하는 그들을 위해 문화체험 프로그램과 연계할 필요성이 있다. 1970년대 초기부터 인구증가를 막기 위해 중국 정부는 ‘산아제한 정책’, 즉 계획생육(計劃生育) 정책을 폈다. 중국의 ‘산아제한 정책(계획생육정책)’은 효과적으로 많은 사회문제를 줄일 수 있었으나 자녀에 대한 지나친 관심과 사랑은 ‘소황제’라 일컫는 문제점을 낳았다. 중국의 주류 사회를 이루고 있는 이들은 중국인의 국민성에도 많은 영향을 미치고 있다. 중국의 부정적 이미지와 함께 ‘소황제’의 사회시스템 일탈로 전반적인 사회문제를 야기하고 있다. 이에 중국 정부와 부모는 미래 인재로 자녀의 바른 경제관념과 직업을 선택하게 해야 할 필요성이 생겼다. 따라서 본 연구의 대상은 중국 미래의 주류 사회의 근간이 될 아동을 대상으로 한다. 이와 같은 연구 대상은 공적인 부분과 사적인 부분을 효율적으로 반영하여 교육관광콘텐츠와 연계를 통해 발굴하고자 한다. 연구 대상으로, 부모와 함께, 혹은 학교 단체 활동의 이유로 한국에 입국하는 초등학생을 주목할 필요가 있다. 한국은 중국의 부모와 정부를 대신하여 놀이를 통해 초등학생의 직업체험을 수행하여 교육적 효과를 얻게 하고, 초등학생은 한국의 직업과 세계의 다양한 직업을 경험함으로써 한국을 재방문할 수 있게 될 것이다. After South Korea and The people"s Republic of China established diplomatic relations in 1992, the number of Chinese tourists visit the increasing. From one hundred thousand to 1993, to 1998, only five years short time grew to Two hundred and ten thousand, and in 2007 the "China-Korea Exchange Year" is a breakthrough in the one million. The 2008 Beijing Olympics and the Shanghai World Expo for the development of Chinese economy after the reform and opening up have a chance. Therefore, European countries have gradually begun to attract attention to Chinese tourists, because of not increasing overseas consumption of these sources and bring to China"s rapid economic development of the Chinese tourists. At the beginning of the year 1970, China in order to control the rapid growth of the population, the implementation of the policy of "family planning". China through the family planning policy to solve the social problems, but at the same time, only children brought about by the family of "Little Emperors(China one)" problem is increasingly significant. And this is also to China"s social, economic and cultural changes and development has deep influence, and become the new problems need to be solved in Chinese society. In this regard, the Chinese government and parents are aware of the necessity of a correct outlook on life and the economic concept of the child"s education. Therefore, the research on how to China"s one-child social and economic right outlook on education research, and through the research on the child education system in South Korea advanced, feasibility of development for Chinese children"s occupation experience educational tourism industry. Thus, not only to China"s onechild access to advanced national occupation education system, and solves the social problem in China at the same time, also promoted the Chinese and Korean entertainment education industry exchanges, but also promoted the development of Korean culture experience tourism industry.

        Targeting treatment of bladder cancer using PTK7 aptamer-gemcitabine conjugate

        Gemcitabine (GEM) is one of the first-line chemotherapies for bladder cancer (BC), but the GEMs cannot recognize cancer cells and have a low long-term response rate and high recurrence rate with side effects during the treatment of BC. Targeted transport of GEMs to mediate cytotoxicity to tumor and avoid the systemic side effects remains a challenge in the treatment of BC.Based on a firstly confirmed biomarker in BC-protein tyrosine kinase 7 (PTK7), which is overexpressed on the cell membrane surface in BC cells, a novel targeting system protein tyrosine kinase 7 aptamer-Gemcitabine conjugate (PTK7-GEMs) was designed and synthesized using a specific PTK7 aptamer and GEM through auto-synthesis method to deliver GEM against BC. In addition, the antitumor effects and safety evaluation of PTK7-GEMs was assessed with a series of in vitro and in vivo assays.PTK7-GEMs can specifically bind and enter to BC cells dependent on the expression levels of PTK7 and via the macropinocytosis pathway, which induced cytotoxicity after GEM cleavage from PTK7-GEMs respond to the intracellular phosphatase. Moreover, PTK7-GEMs showed stronger anti-tumor efficacy and excellent biosafety in three types of tumor xenograft mice models.These results demonstrated that PTK7-GEMs is a successful targeted aptamer-drug conjugates strategy (APDCs) to treat BC, which will provide new directions for the precision treatment of BC in the field of biomarker-oriented tumor targeted therapy.
