        Effect of Probiotics on Central Nervous System Functions in Animals and Humans: A Systematic Review

        To systematically review the effects of probiotics on central nervous system function in animals and humans, to summarize effective interventions (species of probiotic, dose, duration), and to analyze the possibility of translating preclinical studies. Literature searches were conducted in Pubmed, Medline, Embase, and the Cochrane Library. Only randomized controlled trials were included. In total, 38 studies were included: 25 in animals and 15 in humans (2 studies were conducted in both). Most studies used Bifidobacterium (eg, B. longum, B. breve , and B. infantis ) and Lactobacillus (eg, L. helveticus , and L. rhamnosus ), with doses between 10<sup>9</sup> and 10<sup>10</sup> colonyforming units for 2 weeks in animals and 4 weeks in humans. These probiotics showed efficacy in improving psychiatric disorderrelated behaviors including anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), obsessive-compulsive disorder, and memory abilities, including spatial and non-spatial memory. Because many of the basic science studies showed some efficacy of probiotics on central nervous system function, this background may guide and promote further preclinical and clinical studies. Translating animal studies to human studies has obvious limitations but also suggests possibilities. Here, we provide several suggestions for the translation of animal studies. More experimental designs with both behavioral and neuroimaging measures in healthy volunteers and patients are needed in the future.

        The Risk Factors and Outcomes for Radiological Abnormalities in Early Convalescence of COVID-19 Patients Caused by the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron Variant: A Retrospective, Multicenter Follow-up Study

        Background: The emergence of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 omicron variant has been triggering the new wave of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) globally. However, the risk factors and outcomes for radiological abnormalities in the early convalescent stage (1 month after diagnosis) of omicron infected patients are still unknown. Methods: Patients were retrospectively enrolled if they were admitted to the hospital due to COVID-19. The chest computed tomography (CT) images and clinical data obtained at baseline (at the time of the first CT image that showed abnormalities after diagnosis) and 1 month after diagnosis were longitudinally analyzed. Uni-/multi-variable logistic regression tests were performed to explore independent risk factors for radiological abnormalities at baseline and residual pulmonary abnormalities after 1 month. Results: We assessed 316 COVID-19 patients, including 47% with radiological abnormalities at baseline and 23% with residual pulmonary abnormalities at 1-month follow-up. In a multivariate regression analysis, age ≥ 50 years, body mass index ≥ 23.87, days after vaccination ≥ 81 days, lymphocyte count ≤ 1.21 × 10-9/L, interleukin-6 (IL-6) ≥ 10.05 pg/mL and IgG ≤ 14.140 S/CO were independent risk factors for CT abnormalities at baseline. The age ≥ 47 years, presence of interlobular septal thickening and IL-6 ≥ 5.85 pg/mL were the independent risk factors for residual pulmonary abnormalities at 1-month follow-up. For residual abnormalities group, the patients with less consolidations and more parenchymal bands at baseline could progress on CT score after 1 month. There were no significant changes in the number of involved lung lobes and total CT score during the early convalescent stage. Conclusion: The higher IL-6 level was a common independent risk factor for CT abnormalities at baseline and residual pulmonary abnormalities at 1-month follow-up. There were no obvious radiographic changes during the early convalescent stage in patients with residual pulmonary abnormalities.

        Mechanical Property Evaluation of TSV-Cu Micropillar by Compression Method

        A micro-compression test method was presented to evaluate the mechanical property of the TSV-Cu micropillar in this paper. Firstly, the test sample containing TSV-Cu micropillar was prepared by MEMS micromachining technology. Then, the mechanical property of TSV-Cu micropillar was measured by a self-made micro-compression system. Finally, the effect of thermal treatment on the mechanical property of TSV-Cu micropillar was studied. The experimental results showed that the average yield strength (σ0.2) of the TSV-Cu micropillar was 167 MPa. But it decreased to 137 MPa after being thermally treated at 400°C for 1 hour, which was probably due to the increased grain size of Cu.

        Interaction between Metalloporphyrins and Diazine Tautomers

        The interaction between metalloporphyrins and diazine tautomers was investigated using quantum chemistry method. The results showed that the metal atom in the metalloporphyrin was not coplanar with porphin ring, and zinc porphyrin has the most extent of its non-coplanar nature. The most stable complex in nine complexes was iron porphyrin. NBO analysis indicated that the interaction between the lone pair of electrons on the nitrogen atom and the unoccupied lone pair orbital of metal contributes significantly to the stability of the complexes. Through the conceptual DFT parameter and Fukui dual descriptor, the thermodynamic stability and reactivity of complexes were analyzed. The density difference function (DDF) analyzes were performed to explore the rearrangement of electronic density after the coordination interaction. NICS calculation indicated that metalloporphyrin aromaticity was reduced after the coordination interaction, and aromaticity of diazine tautomer was increased along direction vector of the coordination interaction force.

        An improved Corten-Dolan’s model based on damage and stress state effects

        The value of exponent d in Corten-Dolan’s model is generally considered to be a constant. Nonetheless, the results predicted on thebasis of this statement deviate significantly from the real values. In consideration of the effects of damage and stress state on fatigue lifeprediction, Corten-Dolan’s model is improved by redefining the exponent d used in the traditional model. The improved model performsbetter than the traditional one with respect to the demonstration of a fatigue failure mechanism. Predictions of fatigue life on thebasis of investigations into three metallic specimens indicate that the errors caused by the improved model are significantly smaller thanthose induced by the traditional model. Meanwhile, predictions derived according to the improved model fall into a narrower dispersionzone than those made as per Miner’s rule and the traditional model. This finding suggests that the proposed model improves the life predictionaccuracy of the other two models. The predictions obtained using the improved Corten-Dolan’s model differ slightly from thosederived according to a model proposed in previous literature; a few life predictions obtained on the basis of the former are more accuratethan those derived according to the latter. Therefore, the improved model proposed in this paper is proven to be rational and reliable giventhe proven validity of the existing model. Therefore, the improved model can be feasibly and credibly applied to damage accumulationand fatigue life prediction to some extent.

        Identification and expression analysis of SQUAMOSA promoter-binding protein (SBP) genes in mungbean

        SQUAMOSA promoter-binding protein (SBP) genes are important transcription factors involved in plant growth and development. However, the information about mungbean VrSBP genes is limited. In this study, we identified and characterized 22 VrSBP genes in the mungbean genome. Many characteristics of VrSBP genes were analyzed, and most VrSBP genes were considered to be expressed only in the nucleus. VrSBP genes were grouped into 9 subfamilies, with the exception of the g7 and ms subfamilies which are distinctive to Poaceae species. The g3 subfamily was the largest one with 6 VrSBP members. Eight segmental events were found among VrSBP genes, and all VrSBP duplicated genes were evolved via purification selection. The gene structure of VrSBP genes in the same subfamily was similar, and the conserved motifs are different among different subfamilies of VrSBP genes. Additionally, 12 VrSBP genes were considered to be the target genes of vra-miR156a. The types and numbers of cis-acting elements in VrSBP promoters were varied and VrSBP genes showed different expression patterns in different tissues. In addition, the protein interaction network revealed that VrSBP genes were involved in many development processes. Our study has provided important information which will allow the further functional characterization of VrSBP genes.

        Effect of annealing atmosphere on defects, light absorption and imprinting properties of Bi4Ti3O12 films

        In order to studying the effect of the annealing atmospheres (nitrogen and air) on the films, two kinds of Bi4Ti3O12 (BIT) samples were prepared by the sol-gel and layer-by-layer thermal annealing method. Various factors, including lesser VO••, more V'B'i and greater grain size in the air-annealed samples, interacted on the ferroelectric and light absorption properties. However, more (V'B'i)-(VO••) reinforced the imbalance of electron capture in the ITO/BIT/Au capacitors, resulting in stronger imprinting. And the arrangement of (V'B'i)-(VO••) and the domain pinning in the air-annealed films resulted in more serious aging effect.
