Endovascular management of intraparenchymal renal artery pseudoaneurysms is areasonable and effective therapeutic technique. Endovascular management preservesthe maximum amount of renal tissue and reduces the potential risk of nephrectomy. We present the case of an angiocatheter that became stuck in the renal artery followingthe injection of cyanoacrylate glue for angioembolization of an intrarenal pseudoaneurysm.

Objectives: This study examined the effects of plasma-rich growth factors (PRGF) on accelerating bone regeneration/repair in fresh extraction sock-ets, and determined the quality and quantity of bone by assessing the bone density using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: Twenty patients, who had undergone bilateral extractions, were included in this study. In one extraction socket, PRGF was used and covered with an autologous fibrin plug. Nothing was used in the opposite side extraction socket. Thirteen weeks post extraction, the level of bone regeneration was evaluated on both sides with CBCT. Results: At the end of the study, the mean bone density according to the Hounsfield units (HU) in the control group and PRGF group was 500.05 HU (type III bone type) and 647.95 HU (type II bone type), respectively. Conclusion: This study recommends the use of PRGF in post extraction sites to accelerate the rate of bone regeneration and improve the quality of regenerated bone. The technique to process PRGF was simple compared to previously mentioned techniques used for platelet-rich plasma (PRP) preparation. PRP preparation requires a two-cycle centrifugation procedure, leading to a longer processing time.

We present a case of a 23 year-old male treated for Hodgkin’s lymphoma who developed diffuse large Bcell lymphoma (DLBCL) 8 years after achieving remission. 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography computed tomography (18F-FDG PET-CT) was done, which revealed extensive extranodal involvement of bilateral atria,bilateral kidneys, ileo-caecal junction and left testis along with mesenteric and retroperitoneal lymph nodal involvement. Renal and cardiac lesions were not detected by contrast-enhanced CT. Simultaneous lymphomatous involvement of rare sites such as heart, kidneys and testis in a single patient has not been reported before.
A review of metallic radiation recuperators for thermal exhaust heat recovery

Radiation recuperator is a class of indirect contact heat exchanger widely used for waste heat recovery in high temperature industrialapplications. At higher temperatures heat loss is higher and as the cost of energy continues to rise, it becomes imperative to save energyand improve overall energy efficiency. In this light, a radiation recuperator becomes a key component in an energy recovery system withgreat potential for energy saving. Improving recuperator performance, durability, and its design and material considerations has been anongoing concern. Recent progress in furnace design and micro turbine applications together with use of recuperators has resulted in reducedfuel consumption, increased cost effectiveness and short pay-back time periods. Due to its high commercial value and confidentialnature of the industry, little information is available in the open literature as compared to convection recuperators where results are welldocumented. This review paper intends to bridge the gap in literature and provides valuable information on experimental and theoreticalinvestigations in radiation recuperator development along with identification of some unresolved issues.

Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) syndrome is a rare neoplastic disorder characterized by central nervous system (CNS) and visceral tumors. We here present 68Ga-labelled [1, 4, 7, 10-tetraazacyclododecane-1, 4, 7, 10-tetraacetic acid]-1-Nal3-Octreotide positron emission tomography computed tomography findings in a 52 year old female with VHL syndrome, demonstrating both CNS and visceral tumors.

Background Platelet aggregation studies using conventional light transmission aggregometry (LTA) have several disadvantages and require strict pre-analytical measures for reliable results. We aimed to examine the utility of flow cytometric platelet aggregation (FCA) assay in detecting platelet function defects (PFDs) in patients with a history of bleeding symptoms. Methods Sixty-four participants (24 patients and 40 healthy controls) were included in this study. LTA and FCA assay were performed simultaneously in patients and healthy controls. In the FCA assay, two portions of platelets from the same individual were labeled separately with CD31-FITC and CD31-PE. After mixing and stimulation with agonists, the double- colored platelet aggregates were visualized using a flow cytometer. The results generated using the two techniques were compared and correlated. Results The patients’ median age was 17 years (range, 3‒72 yr) with a male-to-female ratio of 1:1.7. There was substantial agreement between LTA and FCA assay in detecting a PFD (=0.792). Four patients showing a Glanzmann thrombasthenia-like pattern on LTA exhibited an abnormal FCA. A functional defect in collagen binding was detected on the FCA assay conducted in two immune thrombocytopenic patients with severe bleeding. Conclusion FCA assay can be used to identify functional defects in platelets, with potential applications in thrombocytopenic individuals. It also facilitates the diagnosis of inherited bleeding disorders with platelet defects.

The detailed understanding of fluorescence emission processes is still unclear. This study demonstrates Aegle marmelos derived luminescent heteroatoms (N, Ca, K) doped carbon quantum dots (CQDs) using an economically and ecologically sustainable synthesis process without the necessity for any doping precursors due to its phytochemical, vitamin and mineral content. Carboxyl functionalization was done by adding lemon juice to the fruit extract. The morphological, physiochemical, compositional, crystallinity, and surface functional groups having heteroatom doped CQDs were analysed by HRTEM, EDX, XPS, XRD, FTIR etc. Besides, CQDs exhibited pH and solvent-dependent tuneable fluorescence characteristics. In fact, beyond pH 7.77, a protonation-deprotonation-driven red-shift was observed together with a decrease in the contribution of prominent peaks. Meanwhile, the features of solvatochromic fluorescence were examined in a range of aprotic and protic solvents with low and high polarity. Based on the studied Kamlet–Taft parameters and the obtained spectroscopic characterizations, a suitable fluorescence emission mechanism is provided. The observed solvatochromic fluorescence is thought to be caused by a combination of dipole moment polarisation, intramolecular charge transfer processes with or without H-bond stabilisation via the interaction of heteroatoms doped CQDs with solvent mediated by electron donation and acceptance from various surface functional groups such as hydroxyl, carboxyl with solvent molecules. Hence, this study is believed to promote the development of eco-tuneable fluorescent heteroatom doped CQDs and provide further insights into the fundamental fluorescence mechanisms, which include the relationship between morphology, surface properties and plausible quantum effects between CQDs and solvents.
Pulmonary Artery Stenosis due to Lung Carcinoma: A Rare Cause of Dyspnea

Acquired bilateral pulmonary artery stenosis in adults due to lung malignancy is infrequently reported. We describe an adultmale who presented to us with chief complaints of dyspnea on exertion and one episode of hemoptysis. Two dimensionaltransthoracic echocardiography with color Doppler showed presence of an extra cardiac mass causing severe extrinsic compressionof both the right and left pulmonary artery leading to high pressure severe tricuspid regurgitation and extension of the mass intothe left atrium. Three dimensional transthoracic echocardiography clearly delineated the anatomy of the left atrial mass and itssurrounding anatomical relationship. The diagnosis of non small cell lung carcinoma was confirmed by multidetector computedtomography (MDCT) and with MDCT guided biopsy with histopathology. Patient succumbed one month later due to anepisode of massive hemoptysis.
