수영, 싸이클 및 런닝을 동시적으로 트레이닝을 수행하는 트라이애슬론은 최근 일반인들 뿐만 아니라 운동선수들 사이에서 급속하게 흥미를 불러 일으키고 있다. 이 연구에 대한 목적은 철인3종경기선수들을 대상으로 Royale(수영 1.5km, 싸이클 40km, 런닝 10km)과 King(수영 3km, 싸이클 180km, 런닝 42.195km)Course 시합 전.후에 따른 혈중 전해질 농도의 반응을 평가하는 것이다. Royale Course에 참여한 모든 선수들은 안정시에 비해 시합직후에서 나트륨(Na, p〈0.001), 칼륨(K, p〈0.001), 총 단백질 (TP, p〈0.001), 칼슘(Ca, p〈0.001), 및 마그네슘(Mg, p〈0.001)농도에서 유의한 증가를 나타내었다. 그러나 글루코스(Glu) 및 중성지방질 (Triglyceride)농도에 유의한 차이는 관찰되지 않았다. 유사하게, King Course의 경우에 있어서도칼륨(K, p〈0.001), 총단백질(TP, p〈0.001), 칼슘(Ca, p〈0.001), 및 마그네슘(Mg, p〈0.001)농도에서 유의한 증가를 나타내었으나, 글루코스, 나투륨 및 트리글리세라이드 농도에서 통계적 유의차는 관찰되지 않았다. 현재연구에 대한 결과로서 5가지의 혈중 전해질(Na, K, TP, Ca and Mg)농도는 Royale 과 King Course 레이스의 시합전에 비해 시합후에서 통계적으로 유의한 증가가 입증되었다. 현재연구에서 혈중 전해질 농도의 유의한 증가는 트라이애슬론 레이스시 피로를 유발시켜 신체적 운동능력을 제한시키는 중추적인 요인이 된다는 것을 시사하는 것이다.
Development of a multi-stage process for reutilization of coal pond ash

In Korea, almost all of bottom ash produced by coal power plants is disposed of in ash ponds. Ash storage areas comprise more than 80% of most coal power plant sites. This disposal method is causing environmental problems and a managerial burden for plant operators. In this study, investigations to develop a beneficiation process for separating coal pond ash into various products were undertaken. To improve efficiency of the separation, coal ash was separated by sizes and each size fraction was subject to various beneficiation processes. The separation process used were flotation (-200 mesh size), hindered settling (16x200) and tabling (16x200 and 8x16 mesh). The results showed that various marketable products, such as lightweight aggregate, sand, high-carbon fuel, could be recovered from coal pond ash using simple physical separation techniques.

<P>Optically ansiotropic photo-crosslinking polymers were synthesized through reaction between different kinds of epoxy resins and cinnamic acids. Optical anisotropy of the polymer film exposed to linearly polarized UV light (LPUVL) was confirmed from the polarized UV-Visible spectra. The polymer films irradiated by LPUVL showed anisotropic absorbance in the polarized UV-Visible spectra, while the polymer irradiated by unpolarized UV exhibited isotropic absorbance. It was also confirmed that the polymer film exposed to LPUVL could align liquid crystals (LC). LC cell fabricated using the polymer films irradiated by LPUVL showed the anisotropic polar diagram, implying that the polymer films may be applied as the photoalignment layer for LC display.</P>

Sporadic osseous hemangioblastomas in the vertebra are extremely rare and they can be misdiagnosed as a vertebral hemangioma or metastasis in imaging studies. We report an intraosseous hemangioblastoma that arose from the 11 th thoracic vertebra and was diagnosed initially as a metastasis in a patient with renal cell carcinoma. Diagnosis, surgical treatment and adjuvant radiosurgery of such case in reference to the literature are discussed.
The Effect of Oligomer Blending on the Flow Properties of Polycarbonate

We successfully prepared high-flow polycarbonate (PC) by blending commercial PC with a low molecular weight PC oligomer. The oligomer was synthesized by the addition of a large quantity of mono functional phenol groups, and the chain end group was reacted with p-tertiary butyl phenol (PTBP) to block the reactivity. The viscosity average molecular weight ($M_v$) for the oligomer was about 4,000-5,000 g/mol, compared to ~19,000 g/mol for the PC blend obtained by blending 10 wt% of the prepared oligomer with the commercial grade PC ($M_v$ of 21,000 g/mol). The blended PC had a melt flow index of 45, which is 2.5 times higher, and a processing temperature that was $20^{\circ}C$ lower, than that of commercial grade PC having a similar $M_v$.

Background: To propose fully automatic segmentation of left atrium using active learning with limited dataset in late gadolinium enhancement in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (LGE-CMRI). Methods: An active learning framework was developed to segment the left atrium in cardiac LGE-CMRI. Patients (n = 98) with atrial fibrillation from the Korea University Anam Hospital were enrolled. First, 20 cases were delineated for ground truths by two experts and used for training a draft model. Second, the 20 cases from the first step and 50 new cases, corrected in a human-in-the-loop manner after predicting using the draft model, were used to train the next model; all 98 cases (70 cases from the second step and 28 new cases) were trained. An additional 20 LGE-CMRI were evaluated in each step. Results: The Dice coefficients for the three steps were 0.85 ± 0.06, 0.89 ± 0.02, and 0.90 ± 0.02, respectively. The biases (95% confidence interval) in the Bland-Altman plots of each step were 6.36% (−14.90–27.61), 6.21% (−9.62–22.03), and 2.68% (−8.57–13.93). Deep active learning-based annotation times were 218 ± 31 seconds, 36.70 ± 18 seconds, and 36.56 ± 15 seconds, respectively. Conclusion: Deep active learning reduced annotation time and enabled efficient training on limited LGE-CMRI.

<P>Ferroelectric properties of Pb-free (Bi,La)4Ti3O12 (BLT) films were optimized on a newly developed MTP cell structure. BLT films were coated on Pt/IrOx/Ir bottom electrode using sol-gel solutions. The composition of the optimized BLT film was about Bi3.25La0.75Ti3.0O12, which was analyzed by ICP-MS method. The switchable polarization obtained in a 100nm-thick BLT film was about 20 uC/cm2 at the 3 V applied voltage, and the optimized BLT film showed little fatigue loss about 10% up to 1×1011 cycles. The imprint properties of the BLT film were also characterized at 25 °C and 90 °C operating temperature after 125 °C data storage. Regardless of operating temperature, switchable polarization of BLT had a sufficiently large margin for device operation up to 10 years.</P>
