        물질주의가 과시소비, 충동구매와 삶의 만족 및 부정적 감정에 미치는 영향

        [연구목적] 물질주의의 부정적인 영향에 대한 선행연구들은 이루어져 왔지만, 물질주의가 과시소비 및 충동구매에 영향을 미치고 이러한 비합리적인 소비가 삶의 만족 및 부정적 감정에 미치는 전체 변수들 간의 연구는 전무했기에 본 연구에서 이러한 관계들이 동시에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 한다. [연구방법] 본 연구는 자료 분석을 위해 신뢰도분석, 탐색적 요인분석, 확인적 요인분석을 실시한 후 측정모델의 적합도를 평가하였고, 이를 바탕으로 측정모형과 구조모델을 동시에 측정하는 구조방정식 검증을 실시하였다. [연구결과] 본 연구를 통한 결과는 다음과 같다. 물질주의가 높을수록 과시소비와 충동구매를 더 하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 과시소비 성향이 높을수록 삶의 만족도는 낮아지며, 부정적 감정은 높았다. 마지막으로 충동구매 성향이 높을수록 부정적 감정은 높았지만, 삶의 만족도에는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. [연구의 시사점] 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 청소년들의 올바른 가치관과 소비 형태를 정립할 수 있는 교육 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이라 본다. 그리고 물질주의를 통한 올바르지 못한 구매들이 부정적인 감정을 높이고 삶의 만족을 떨어뜨릴 수 있음을 공익광고를 통해 건전한 인식 전환을 시도해 볼 수 있을 것이며, 구매 후에 느낄 수 있는 부정적 감정들에 대해서는 과시를 통한 우월감, 만족감으로 대신하거나, 실용적인 측면들을 내세워 소비에 대한 정당성을 확보하여 부정적 감정들을 완화 시킬 수 있을 것으로 본다. [Purpose] Previous studies on the negative effects of materialism have been carried out, there has been no study of materialism’s effects on conspicuous consumption and impulse buying nor the study of entire variables between the effects of irrational consumption and satisfaction with life and negative emotions. In this context, this study examines the simultaneous effects of the relationships. [Methodology] This study evaluated the measuring model’s fitness after performing a reliability analysis, an exploratory factor analysis, and a confirmatory factor analysis. Based on this, the verification of the structural equation model simultaneously measuring the measuring model and the structural model was performed. [Findings] The results of this study are as follows: As materialism was higher, conspicuous consumption and impulse buying were higher. As conspicuous consumption was higher, satisfaction with life became lower but negative emotions were higher. Lastly, as the impulse buying disposition was higher, negative emotions were higher, but it did not affect satisfaction with life. [Implications] The result of this study can be used for educational data to establish adolescents’ proper values and behavioral patterns. A sound awareness shift that improper buying can elevate negative emotions and lower satisfaction with life can be attempted through public service advertisement. Negative emotions can be eased by securing legitimacy on consumption by replacing negative emotions with sense of superiority and satisfaction or by presenting the practical aspect.

        Panax ginseng Attenuates MK-801-Induced Stereotypy in Mice

        정신분열병은 정신병의 일종으로 전체 인구에서 약 1%의 발병률을 가지고 있다. 많은 연구자가 정신분열병의 주요 증상인 인지장애 및 이상행동에 관심을 갖고 연구하고 있다. 인삼은 아시아 그 중에서도 한국, 일본, 중국에서 약2,000년 동안 건강증진을 위하여 사용된 약물이다. 이 논문의 실험 목적은 MK801로 정신분열병과 유사한 증상을 야기한 동물모델에서 인삼의 효과를 보고자 하였으며, 급성과 만성 정신분열병 유사 동물모델을 이용하여 동물행동에 어떤 변화가 있는지를 관찰하였다. 급성모델은 MK-801 (NMDA receptor antagonist)을 0.6 mg/kg (i.p) 농도로 한번 주사를 놓았고, 만성모델은 7일 동안 주사한 후 행동실험을 비교 관찰하였다. 인삼(400 mg/kg)은 경구투여로 MK-801 투여 30분 전에 투여하였다. MK-801 투여로 야기된 stereotyped score가 급성과 만성모델에서 모두 증가하였다. 인삼투여로는 급성모델에서 반복행동의 완화에는 유의성이 나타나지 않았지만, 만성모델에서는 유의성을 보였다. 이러한 실험 결과는 인삼을 장기간 사용하였을 때, 반복행동 같은 정신분열병의 일부 증상에 효과를 나타낼 수 있음을 시사한다. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder with lifetime prevalence on approximately 1% of the general population. After MK-801 (NMDA receptor antagonist) treatment, stereotyped behavior in mice is significantly increased, and therefore this is widely used as an animal model for the study of the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. Ginseng, the root of Panax ginseng, is known as a representative tonic for over 2,000 years in East countries such as China, Japan, and Korea. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of ginseng on stereotyped behavior in MK-801-induced mice. We evaluated the stereotypy score in mice after single and repeated administration of MK-801 to examine acute and chronic responses. A total of 80 male mice were used for the acute and chronic session tests. Each session test was divided into 4 groups (10 mice/group), which were treated with saline (Control group), 400 mg/kg ginseng (Control+Ginseng group), 0.6 mg/kg MK-801 (MK801 group), and 0.6 mg/kg MK-801 and 400 mg/kg ginseng (MK801+Ginseng group), respectively. For the acute session test, mice were injected with a single dose of MK-801 (0.6 mg/kg, i.p). For the chronic session test, mice were daily injected with MK-801 for consecutive 7days. Ginseng (400 mg/kg, p.o) was administered 30 min before the MK-801 treatment. The results showed that stereotypy score was increased in the MK801 group of both the acute and chronic session tests, compared with the Control group. Ginseng reduced the score of MK-induced stereotypy in the chronic session test, but not in the acute session test. The present results might be related to the long-term effect of ginseng in treating the symptoms of schizophrenia, including stereotyped behavior. (Korean J Str Res 2009;17:435∼440)

        The significance of microsatellite instability in colorectal cancer after controlling for clinicopathological factors

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>The colorectal cancer (CRC) patients with microsatellite instability (MSI) have distinct clinicopathological characteristics consisting of factors predicting positive and negative outcomes, such as a high lymph node harvest and poor differentiation. In this study, we measured the value of MSI as a prognostic factor after controlling for these discrepant factors. A total of 603 patients who underwent curative surgery for stages I to III colorectal cancer were enrolled. The patients were divided into microsatellite instability high (MSI-H) and microsatellite stable/microsatellite instability low (MSS/MSI-L) groups. Propensity score matching was used to match clinicopathological factors between the 2 groups. MSI-H patients had a high lymph node harvest (median: 31.0 vs 23.0, <I>P < </I>.001), earlier-stage tumors (<I>P < </I>.001), advanced T stage (89.3% vs 74.0%, <I>P = </I>.018), and poor differentiation (19.6% vs 2.0%, <I>P < </I>.001). Survival analysis showed better survival in the MSI-H group, but the difference was not statistically significant (<I>P = </I>.126). Propensity score matching was performed for significant prognostic factors identified by Cox hazard regression. After the matching, the survival difference by MSI status was estimated to be larger than before, and reached statistical significance (<I>P = </I>.045). In conclusion, after controlling for pathological characteristics, MSI-H could be a potent prognostic factor regarding patient survival.</P>

        Surgically Metabolic Resection of Pericardial Fat to Ameliorate Myocardial Mitochondrial Dysfunction in Acute Myocardial Infarction Obese Rats

        Background: Pericardial fat (PF) is highly associated with cardiovascular disease but the effectiveness of surgical resection of PF is still unknown for myocardial mitochondrial structure and function in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) with obesity. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the difference in myocardial mitochondrial structure and function between obese AMI with additionally resected PF and those without resected PF. Methods: Obese rats with 12-week high fat diet (45 kcal% fat, n = 21) were randomly assigned into 3 groups: obese control, obese AMI and obese AMI with additionally resected PF. One week after developing AMI and additional resection of PF, echocardiogram, myocardial mitochondrial histomorphology, oxidative phosphorylation system (OXPHOS), anti-oxidative enzyme and sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase 2 (SERCA2) in the non-infarcted area were assessed between these groups. Results: There was significant improvement of systolic function in AMI with PF resection compared with the AMI group in the echocardiogram. Even though the electron microscopic morphology for the mitochondria seems to be similar between the AMI with PF resection and AMI groups, there was an improved expression of PGC-1α and responsive OXPHOS including NDUFB3, NDUFB5 and SDHB are associated with the ATP levels in the AMI with PF resection compared with those in the AMI group. In addition, the expression levels of antioxidant enzymes (MnSOD) and SERCA2 were improved in the AMI with PF resection compared with those in the AMI group. Conclusion: Surgical resection of PF might ameliorate myocardial mitochondria dysfunction in obese AMI.

        High-performance Fe<sub>5</sub>C<sub>2</sub>@CMK-3 nanocatalyst for selective and high-yield production of gasoline-range hydrocarbons

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Highly-loaded and well-dispersed Fe<SUB>5</SUB>C<SUB>2</SUB> nanoparticles within ordered mesoporous carbon CMK-3 (Fe<SUB>5</SUB>C<SUB>2</SUB>@CMK-3) were prepared via a simple melt infiltration method. They were successfully applied to high-temperature Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, and showed high CO conversion (91%) and activity (5.1×10<SUP>−4</SUP> mol<SUB>co</SUB> g<SUB>Fe</SUB> <SUP>−1</SUP> s<SUP>−1</SUP>) as well as good selectivity (38wt%) for gasoline-range hydrocarbons (C<SUB>5</SUB>–C<SUB>12</SUB>).       • Droplet Striations Formed in a 900-MHz Microwave Argon Atmospheric-Pressure Plasma Jet

        <P>Unique striations were observed in the formation of 900-MHz microwave argon atmospheric-pressure plasma jet in air. The striated patterns are easily observed even with the naked eyes at a flow rate of above 3 slm and an input power of below 3 W. Moreover, the striated patterns, which were associated with shortening in the plasma jet length, are obtained by adding less than 1 vol.% of O<SUB>2</SUB> gas to Ar.</P>
