This study was conducted at a Terminal, a Parking Lot, an Underground shopping center, a Funeral hall and a Hospital waiting room of Cheon An area in August 2008 to examine the concentration level of HCHO(formaldehyde). The concentration level of the remodeled sites were 39.4 ± 12.0 ㎍/㎥ in the terminal, 32.7 ± 7.3 ㎍/㎥ in the parking, and 97.8 ± 29.4 ㎍/㎥ in the underground shopping center. The underground shopping center had the highest level and followed by the terminal and the parking. On the contrary, the site remodeling had the level of 17.7 ± 12.4 ㎍/㎥ in the funeral hall and 17.9 ± 0.6 ㎍/㎥ in the hospital waiting room. The funeral hall had highest level than that of the hospital waiting room. Both the remodeled sites and the not remodeled site had concentration level of HCHO below the standard level, but it was higher in the remodeled sites. There were no relations among the HCHO, the temperature and the humidity in facilities of Cheon An area.
The Immunosuppressive Potential of Cholesterol Sulfate Through T Cell Microvilli Disruption

Cholesterol (CL) is required for various biomolecular production processes, including those of cell membrane components. Therefore, to meet these needs, CL is converted into various derivatives. Among these derivatives is cholesterol sulfate (CS), a naturally produced CL derivative by the sulfotransferase family 2B1 (SULT2B1), which is widely present in human plasma. CS is involved in cell membrane stabilization, blood clotting, keratinocyte differentiation, and TCR nanocluster deformation. This study shows that treatment of T cells with CS resulted in the decreased surface expression of some surface T-cell proteins and reduced IL-2 release. Furthermore, T cells treated with CS significantly reduced lipid raft contents and membrane CLs. Surprisingly, using the electron microscope, we also observed that CS led to the disruption of T-cell microvilli, releasing small microvilli particles containing TCRs and other microvillar proteins. However, in vivo, T cells with CS showed aberrant migration to high endothelial venules and limited infiltrating splenic T-cell zones compared with the untreated T cells. Additionally, we observed significant alleviation of atopic dermatitis in mice injected with CS in the animal model. Based on these results, we conclude that CS is an immunosuppressive natural lipid that impairs TCR signaling by disrupting microvillar function in T cells, suggesting its usefulness as a therapeutic agent for alleviating T-cell-mediated hypersensitivity and a potential target for treating autoimmune diseases.

Chronic eosinophilic pneumonia (CEP) is characterized by fluffy opacities in peripheral pulmonary distribution sparing central portion in patientswith history of asthma. Peripheral blood eosinophilia is usual finding and recurrence of chest infiltration is frequent. Here we present a case of acute eosinophilic pneumonia (AEP) presenting as similar radiologic pattern of CEP. A 60-year-old male patient was referred to our department due to unresolving pneumonia. Physical examination revealed bilateral basal rales on his both lung fields. Peripheal blood examination showed mild leukocytosis without eosinophilia (white blood cell count; 10,270 /μL, eosinophilis; 3.4%). Liver and kidney functions revealed no specific abnormal findings. Arterial blood gas analysis showed PaO2 54.1 mmHg and PaCO2 29.5 mmHg in room air. Chest X-ray film showed multiple areas of ground-glass opacities (GGO) in both lung fields. High-resolution chest computed tomography (HRCT) showed geographic distribution of GGO with interlobular septal thickening and crazy-paving appearance of both lung especially right lung peripheral portion. Sputum eosinophil count was 5% of total cells. Bronchoalveolar lavage was performed in the lateral segmental bronchus of right middle lobe. Lavgage fluid analysis showed 15% of total cells were defined as eosinophils. After treatment with prednisolone 0.5 mg/kg of body weight, the patient`s subjective symptoms and radiologic abnormal manifestations were improved dramatically.
