아밀로이드의 심근 침윤은 심각한 예후를 초래할 수 있는 진행성 심근병증 뿐만 아니라 울혈성 심부전, 심장 판막 질환, 부정맥 등과 같은 다양한 심장질환을 일으킬 수 있다. 우리는 처음에 심근 아밀로이드증으로 내원하였으나 신드롬 X로 잘못 진단되었던 환자가 재발성 흉통 및 진행성 심부전으로 인해 심장 이식을 시행한 증례가 있어, 이를 보고하는 바이다.

<P>Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) caused by <I>NF1</I> gene mutation is a commonly inherited autosomal dominant disorder. Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs), a type of aggressive sarcoma, are a major cause of mortality in NF1 patients. The malignant transformation of benign plexiform neurofibromas (PNs) to MPNSTs is a marked peculiarity in NF1 patients, yet the pathogenesis remains poorly understood. We found that an actin-associated protein transgelin (SM22) was highly expressed in <I>NF1</I>-deficient MPNST tissues compared to <I>NF1</I>-deficient PN tissues using immunohistological staining and primary cultured MPNST cells in western blot analysis. We further found that this transgelin upregulation was caused by increased transcriptional expression of the <I>TAGLN</I> gene encoding transgelin. Comparison of DNA methylation values in the promoter and subpromoter regions of the <I>TAGLN</I> gene in three types of <I>NF1</I>-deficient primary-cultured cells, derived from an NF1 patient’s normal phenotype, a benign PN and MPNST tissues, revealed that the <I>TAGLN</I> gene was hypomethylated in the MPNST cells. Next, to determine the functional role of transgelin in MPNST pathogenesis, we manipulated the <I>TAGLN</I> gene expression and investigated the alteration of the RAS-mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway in the normal-phenotypic and malignant tumor cells. The downregulation of <I>TAGLN</I> expression in <I>NF1</I>-deficient MPNST tumor cells through the treatment of the small interfering RNA resulted in a decrease in the RAS activation (GTP-RAS) and the downstream ERK1/2 activation (phosphorylated ERK1/2), while the overexpression of <I>TAGLN</I> in normal-phenotypic <I>NF1</I>-deficient cells caused an increase in RAS and ERK1/2 activation. These results indicate that upregulation of transgelin caused by hypomethylation of the <I>TAGLN</I> gene is closely involved in tumor progression in NF1.</P>

산화철의 제조에는 기존의 습식화학제조법과 건식화학제조법이 있는데, 모두 환경에 영향을 미치는 화학물질을 대량으로 사용하여 산화철을 제조하는 기술이다. 본 기술보고에서는 환경친화적 제조법으로 스크랩을 원료로 박테리아를 이용하여 산화철을 제조하는 생화학적 기술과 자전고온합성법을 이용하여 산화철을 제조하는 신개념의 산화철제조 기술을 소개하였다. For the manufacture of iron oxide, the hydro-process and the pyre-process are conventionally used. Both processes use a huge amount of chemicals in reaction which affect the environment harmfully. This paper introduced the new environment friendly processes; the bio-chemical process and the self propagating high temperature synthesis process.

산화철의 국제동향에 대하여 각 지역간의 수출입동향과 최근에 급속하게 성장하고 잇는 중국의 산화철업계 동향에 대하여 소개하였다. 특히 세계 산화철 교역량은 산화철업계의 기술발전과 각국이 처한 환경에 따라 변화하며, 산화철의 주요용도중 하나인 안료용도의 경우 건축경기에 큰 영향을 받는다. 중국의 산화철업계는 전반적으로 크게 성장한 반면 다국적 기업의 진출에 따른 기술력 향상과 반대급부로 경쟁력 약한 중국내 기업정리등이 수반되었다. 산화철산업의 발전을 위하여는 타소재와의 가격경쟁력도 중요하지만 새로운 응용분야의 개척이 필요하다. 본 기술자료에서는 최근에 관심이 집중되는 산화철 나노분말의 신용도 및 특성에 대하여 소개하였다. From the world wide globalization of iron oxide industry, the global trend in iron oxide is changed rapidly and the production of iron oxide is increasing in China, currently. Iron oxide have a broad range of applications from construction materials to medical area. Therefore, it is expected that nanoparticulate iron oxides have many applications, too. A series of interesting applications in entirely different fields are introduced.
A rare case of extensive papillary muscle calcification in senile cardiac calcification syndrome

광범위 유두근 석회화는 흔하지 앉으며, 원인과 임상적 중요성에 관한 문헌만 드물게 찾아볼 수 있다. 반면에 작은 석회 침착은 노인에서 흔하며 심장 첨부에 주로 나타난다. 유두근 석회화는 관상동맥질환, 확장성 심근병증, 승모관 질환, 고칼슘혈증, 그리고 말기신부전에서 인산칼슘의 중가와 연관성이 있다. 저자는 심장초옴파와 MDCT를 통해 진단된 전외측 유두근의 광범위 석회화의 드문 사례가 있어 보고한다.

The main functions of suspension system of railway vehicle are isolating vibration from track irregularity to car-body for the Ride quality and keeping its stability with limitation of vehicle’s movement. These two functions conflict with each other, then it is impossible to achieve both of performance with traditional passive suspension which has constant characteristics. So, to improve this situation the active suspension was suggested and in specially the semi-active suspension is noticed for its effectiveness on cost despite of its lower performance than full-active suspension. In this study the control logic made through LQG theory was designed with simplified vehicle model and variable damper model defined by 1st order system, then the analysis of simulation results was done to understand influence on the performance of semi-active suspension with running conditions and response characteristics of variable damper.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine whether crossed cerebellar hyperperfusion (CCH) was helpful in discriminating mesial from lateral temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) and what other factors were related in the development of CCH on ictal brain SPECT. Materials and Methods: We conducted retrospective analysis in 59 patients with TLE (M:41, F:18; 27.4±7.8 years old; mesial TLE: 51, lateral TLE: 8), which was confirmed by invasive EEG and surgical outcome (Engel class I , II). All the patients underwent ictal Tc-99m HMPAO brain SPECT and their injection time from ictal EEG onset on video EEG monitoring ranged from 11 sec to 75 sec (32.6±19.5 sec) in 39 patients. Multiple factors including age, TLE subtype (mesial TLE or lateral TLE), propagation pattern (hyperperfusion localized to temporal lobes, spread to adjacent lobes or contralateral hemisphere) and injection time were evaluated for their relationship with CCH using multiple logistic regression analysis Results: CCH was observed in 18 among 59 patnts. CCH developed in 29% (15/51) of mesial TLE patients and 38% (3/8) of lateral TLE patients. CCH was associated with propagation pattern; no CCH (0/13) in patients with hyperperfusion localized to temporal lobe, 30% (7/23) in patients with propagation to adjacent lobes, 48% (11/23) to contralateral hemisphere. Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that propagation pattern (p=0.01) and age (p=0.02) were related to the development of CCH. Conclusion: Crossed cerebellar hyperperfusion in ictal brain SPECT did not help differentiate mesial from lateral temporal lobe epilepsy. Crossed cerebellar hyperperfusion was associated with propagation pattern of temporal lobe epilepsy and age. (Korean J Nucl Med 2000;34:312-21)
