Implication of Magneto-hydrodynamics and Melting Heat Transfer in Cubic Autocatalytic Reactive Flow with Entropy Generation

        Sohail A. Khan,M. Ijaz Khan,Sami Ullah Khan,M. Y. Malik,A. Ghareeb 한국자기학회 2021 Journal of Magnetics Vol.26 No.3

The theme of this article is to investigate hydrodynamic flow of an incompressible second grade nanoliquid by a curved stretched sheet. Energy expression is developed through dissipation and Joule heating. Brownian and thermophoresis diffusion are also scrutinized. Physical feature of entropy generation is discussed. Isothermal cubic autocatalytic chemical reactions are discussed. Suitable transformations are used to develop the ordinary differential system. To develop a convergent series solution we employed the Optimal Homotopy Analysis Technique (OHAM). Graphical description of velocity, entropy generation, temperature distribution and concentration versus sundry parameters are discussed. An opposite behavior in velocity field is noted for magnetic and curvature parameters. Temperature distribution and velocity field have reverse trends for melting parameter. An augmentation in temperature is observed for radiation parameter. Larger magnetic variable lead to improve the entropy generation. Entropy optimization is boosted versus higher magnetic parameter.

Defining the hemodynamic response of hypertensive and normotensive subjects through serial timed blood pressure readings in the clinic

        Hunaina Shahab,Hamza Sohail Khan,Aysha Almas,Sohail Abrar Khan,Azmina Artani,Aamir Hameed Khan 대한고혈압학회 2019 Clinical Hypertension Vol.25 No.3

Background: Every third patient in the clinic is misdiagnosed due to white-coat phenomenon, necessitating needless and costly treatment. We aimed to study the hemodynamic response of the physician’s visit on hypertensive and normotensive patients by investigating the trend of blood pressure (BP) before, during and 15 min after the physician-patient encounter. Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted over a period of 8 months in the cardiology clinics at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi. Both hypertensive and normotensive patients, aged ≥18 years, were recruited. Pregnant females or those with a history of volume loss were excluded. BP readings were taken using an automated, validated device (Omron-HEM7221-E) at three points: pre-clinic BP by the assessment nurse, in-clinic BP by the attending physician and post-clinic BP 15-min after the physician-patient encounter by a research assistant. Independent samples t-test was used to calculate the statistical difference between hypertensive and normotensive BP values. Results: Of 180 participants, 71% (n = 128) were hypertensive and 57% (n = 103) of all were males. The mean age of the participants was 57 ± 15 years. The mean and standard deviation(±SD) systolic BP (SBP) taken pre-clinic, inclinic and 15-min post-clinic for hypertensive population was 128.7 ± 20 mmHg, 137.1 ± 21 mmHg and 127.9 ± 19 mmHg. The mean and standard deviation(±SD) SBP taken pre-clinic, in-clinic and 15 min post-clinic for normotensive population was 112 ± 16 mmHg, 115.8 ± 20 mmHg and 111.8 ± 15 mmHg. The hypertensive SBP values showed statistically significant difference from the normotensive values (difference in pre-clinic SBP: 16. 7 mmHg, p-value < 0.001; in-clinic SBP: 21.3 mmHg, p-value < 0.001; and 15 min post-clinic: 16.1 mmHg, p-value < 0.001). Conclusions: Hypertensive and normotensive patients display congruent hemodynamics upon visiting the physician, the alert response being accentuated amongst the hypertensive group. In-clinic BP readings are higher for both hypertensive and normotensive patients making them unreliable for screening and management of hypertension amongst both the groups.

Survivability Analysis of MANET Routing Protocols under DOS Attacks

( Sohail Abbas ),( Muhammad Haqdad ),( Muhammad Zahid Khan ),( Haseeb Ur Rehman ),( Ajab Khan ),( Atta Ur Rehman Khan ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2020 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.14 No.9

The network capability to accomplish its functions in a timely fashion under failures and attacks is known as survivability. Ad hoc routing protocols have been studied and extended to various domains, such as Intelligent Transport Systems (ITSs), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), underwater acoustic networks, and Internet of Things (IoT) focusing on different aspects, such as security, QoS, energy. The existing solutions proposed in this domain incur substantial overhead and eventually become burden on the network, especially when there are fewer attacks or no attack at all. There is a need that the effectiveness of these routing protocols be analyzed in the presence of Denial of Service (DoS) attacks without any intrusion detection or prevention system. This will enable us to establish and identify the inherently stable routing protocols that are capable to survive longer in the presence of these attacks. This work presents a DoS attack case study to perform theoretical analysis of survivability on node and network level in the presence of DoS attacks. We evaluate the performance of reactive and proactive routing protocols and analyse their survivability. For experimentation, we use NS-2 simulator without detection or prevention capabilities. Results show that proactive protocols perform better in terms of throughput, overhead and packet drop.

Facture of the Pars Interarticularis with or without Spondylolisthesis in an Adult Population in a Developing Country: Evaluation by Multidetector Computed Tomography

        Sohail Ahmed Khan,Amjad Sattar,Usman Khanzada,Hatem Adel,Syed Omair Adil,Munawar Hussain 대한척추외과학회 2017 Asian Spine Journal Vol.11 No.3

Study Design: Descriptive cross-sectional study. Purpose: To determine the prevalence of lumbar spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis in a general adult population unrelated to lower back pain as evaluated by multidetector computed tomography. Overview of Literature: There is a significant paucity of information related to the prevalence of spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis and its degenerative changes in a general adult population unrelated to lower back pain in developing countries. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on abdominopelvic computed tomography (CT) scans performed between January 1st 2015 and December 31st 2015 for various clinical indications. Patients with lower back pain, with a history of trauma or road traffic accident, or referred from orthopedic or neurosurgery departments were excluded to avoid any bias. CT scans were reviewed in axial, sagittal, and coronal planes using bone window settings for evaluating spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis. Results: Of 4,348 patients recruited, spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis were identified in 266 (6.1%) and 142 (3.3%) patients, respectively. Age was significantly higher in both spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis patients than in those without spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis (47.19±15.45 vs. 42.5±15.96, p <0.001 and 53.01±15.31 vs. 42.44±15.88, p <0.001, respectively). Gender was significantly associated with spondylolisthesis (p =0.029) but not spondylolysis. Of patients who were >60 years old, both spondylolysis (p =0.018) and spondylolisthesis (p =0.025) were significantly more prevalent in females. Conclusions: The prevalence of pars interarticularis fracture observed higher with gradual increase in the prevalence with advancing age. In particular, preponderance was significantly higher among older females.

        Muhammad Sohail Khan,김도현 에스케이텔레콤 (주) 2014 Telecommunications Review Vol.24 No.4

Recently there is increasing the research interests towards a smart life style included a number of devices in residential space. Some devices are being used by us such as the smart phones while others are most of the time invisible to us such as proximity sensors and light sensors etc. These devices are being interconnected using technologies such as internet and are being utilized to read an environment, detect patterns and predict or forecast some events. The reading of a phenomenon or situation using sensing devices is called as context acquisition. So far context acquisition has been performed with respect to specific solutions and there is no generic process model which can be utilized for general context acquisition applications. This paper presents a hierarchical service-oriented process model for context acquisition. A step by step explanation has been provided for each process involved and performance analysis has been carried out using a prototype implementation of the model.

Effect of variable degrees of jejunal resection upon different clinico-biochemical parameters in dogs

Dilawer, Muhammad Sohail,Khan, Muhammad Arif,Abidin, Zain ul,Azeem, Shahan,Majeed, Khalid Abdul,Shahbaz, Adeel,Khan, Aamir Riaz The Korean Society of Veterinary Science 2011 大韓獸醫學會誌 Vol.51 No.4

Dogs are considered to be the best companions of human beings due to their loyalty, obedience and pleasant disposition. Jejunum is the largest part of small intestine mainly involved in absorption of nutrients. Jejunal resection up to 80% allows normal weight gain while resection up to 90% increased morbidity and mortality. In the present study, 20 dogs were divided into 4 groups based on the degree of jejunal resection i.e. A (70% resection), B (80% resection) and C (100% resection) while group D served as control. Dogs in the 70% and 80% jejunal resection group showed normal growth and function while 100% jejunal resection resulted in weight loss and alteration of hematological and biochemical parameters.

Mathematical analysis of bio-convective micropolar nanofluid

Sohail Nadeem,Muhammad Naveed Khan,Noor Muhammad,Shafiq Ahmad 한국CDE학회 2019 Journal of computational design and engineering Vol.6 No.3

The present investigation concentrates on three dimensional unsteady forced bio-convection flow of a viscous fluid. An incompressible flow of a micropolar nanofluid encloses micro-organisms past an expo-nentially stretching sheet with magnetic field is analyzed. By employing convenient transformation the partial differential equations are converted into the ordinary differential equations which are non-linear. By using shooting method to solved these equations numerically. The influence of the determining parameters on the velocity, temperature, micro-rotation, nanoparticle volume fraction, microorganism are incorporated. The skin friction, heat transfer rate, and the microorganism rate are analyzed. The results depicts that the value of the wall shear stress and Nusselt number are declined while an enhance-ment take place in the microorganism number. The slip parameters increases the velocity, thermal energy, and microorganism number consequentially. The present investigation are important in improv-ing achievement of microbial fuel cells
