Influences of Financial Inclusion on Sustainable Development of India: Using Internet Subscribers as a Moderator

Swapnil Singh THAKUR(Swapnil Singh THAKUR ),Rahul Singh GAUTAM(Rahul Singh GAUTAM ),Ajay Kumar YADAV(Ajay Kumar YADAV ),Hitesh PATOLE(Hitesh PATOLE ),Aashi RAWAL(Aashi RAWAL ),Shailesh RASTOGI(Shailes 한국유통과학회 2023 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.10 No.2

The goal of this study is to understand how financial inclusion (FI) as influenced by Internet subscribers in India, affects India’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). This study makes use of secondary data that was collected from 16 Indian states and one Union Territory between the fiscal years of 2018 and 2020. The goal of this study has been investigated using panel data regression analysis (PDR). And the study’s findings indicate that wages received through MNREGA accounts and post office operating accounts under the supervision of Internet subscribers have a significant negative impact on India’s SDGs, demonstrating how financial inclusion is harming the country’s efforts to achieve sustainable development. This study suggests that it is important to pay attention to rural areas’ access to the digital environment and their degree of digital literacy. These findings imply that improving the MGNREGA program and employees’ pay might help the government alleviate poverty in India. Financial inclusion also depends heavily on financial literacy. The government should improve its digital infrastructure in rural and urban areas so that people there may better understand and utilize it given that it promotes financial inclusion, digitalization, economic advancement, rural development, and poverty reduction.

Impacts of Financial Inclusion on Sustainable Development in India

SINGH, Saumya,GAUTAM, Rahul Singh,AGARWAL, Bhakti,PUSHP, Aman,BARGE, Prashant,RASTOGI, Shailesh Korea Distribution Science Association 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.10

The ultimate motive of the paper is to establish whether financial inclusion (FI) has a consequential impact on the Sustainable Development (SD) of India. This study uses one model for the assessment of the influence of FI through the Co-Operative bank network on SD. This is purposely done to analyze the absolute impact of the role of the Co-Operative bank network in the said context. The sample encompasses data taken from 28 states and 3 Union Territories for two years (FY2018-FY2020). Assessment of data for the remaining Union Territories is not undertaken for the reason of the non-availability of data for other Union Territories. This study uses Panel Data Analysis (PDA) to establish the nexus of the relation between the said variables. Results of this study reveal elevated levels of SD resultant of increased FI thereby indicating a positive and significant relationship between the said variables. Unlike previous studies, this study gives India-specific significant findings, which suggests policy formulation for increasing the numbers and improving the governance of Co-Operative bank networks for SD. Co-Operative bank network as a proxy despite having high weighted significance in FI has not been incorporated in any recent study as per the last updated knowledge of authors.

The Impact of Competition on the Profitability and Risk-Taking of Commercial Banks in India

Shailesh RASTOGI,Jagjeevan KANOUJIYA,Venkata Mrudula BHIMAVARAPU,Rahul Singh GAUTAM 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.5

The purpose of this article is to investigate the impact of competition on the performance of Indian banks. The survey includes banks from both the public and private sectors. The study will collect data for four years, from 2015 to 2019. Dynamic and static panel data are applied to estimate the association between competition and the bank’s performance. Profitability and risk-taking are the performance measures used in the study. The study’s main findings are that competition does not impact the banks’ profitability in India. However, the findings concerning risk-taking are mixed. Therefore, it can be inferred that overall competition does not impact the banks’ performance in India. Other measures of performance of the banks could have been used in the study. It is a limitation to use data of four years. Data for a much more extended period could have also been used. This is one of the few papers on the subject. Therefore, its contribution is very significant. The gap in studies on the topic of competition versus performance of the banks is veritably filled by the current study’s findings.

      • Optimization of Cu, Hg and Cd removal by Enterobacter cloacae by ferric ammonium citrate precipitation

        Singh, Rashmi R.,Tipre, Devayani R.,Dave, Shailesh R. Techno-Press 2014 Advances in environmental research Vol.3 No.4

Iron precipitating organisms play a significant role in the formation of ferric hydroxide precipitate, which acts as strong adsorbent for toxic metal. In this respect four different iron precipitating cultures were isolated from Hutti gold mine surface winze water sample on citrate agar medium. The best isolate was screened out for metal removal study on the basis of fast visual iron precipitation. The selected isolate was identified as Enterobacter sp. based on routine biochemical tests and Biolog GN microplate results and as Enterobacter cloacae subsp. dissolvens by 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis (GenBank accession number EU429448). Influence of medium composition, medium initial pH, the influence of inoculum size, effect of various media and ferric ammonium citrate concentration were studied on metal removal in shake flask experiments. Under the optimized conditions studied, E. cloacae showed $94{\pm}2$, $95{\pm}2$ and $70{\pm}2%$ of cadmium, copper and mercury removal from a simulated waste in shake flask studies. In lab scale column reactor more than 85% of copper and mercury removal was achieved.

Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Cell Extracts of Anabaena doliolum and Screening of Its Antibacterial and Antitumor Activity

        ( Garvita Singh ),( Piyoosh K Babele ),( Shailesh K Shahi ),( Rajeshwar P Sinha ),( Madhu B Tyagi ),( Ashok Kumar ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2014 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.24 No.10

In the present work, we describe a simple, cheap, and unexplored method for “green” synthesis of silver nanoparticles using cell extracts of the cyanobacterium Anabaena doliolum. An attempt was also made to test the antimicrobial and antitumor activities of the synthesized nanoparticles. Analytical techniques, namely UV-vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and TEMselected area electron diffraction, were used to elucidate the formation and characterization of silver-cyanobacterial nanoparticles (Ag-CNPs). Results showed that the original color of the cell extract changed from reddish blue to dark brown after addition of silver nitrate solution (1 mM) within 1 h, suggesting the synthesis of Ag-CNPs. That the formation Ag-CNPs indeed occurred was also evident from the spectroscopic analysis of the reaction mixture, wherein a prominent peak at 420 nm was noted. TEM images revealed well-dispersed, spherical Ag- CNPs with a particle size in the range of 10-50 nm. The X-ray diffraction spectrum suggested a crystalline nature of the Ag-CNPs. FTIR analysis indicated the utilization of a hydroxyl (-OH) group in the formation of Ag-CNPs. Ag-CNPs exhibited strong antibacterial activity against three multidrug-resistant bacteria. Additionally, Ag-CNPs strongly affected the survival of Dalton`s lymphoma and human carcinoma colo205 cells at a very low concentration. The Ag-CNPs-induced loss of survival of both cell types may be due to the induction of reactive oxygen species generation and DNA fragmentation, resulting in apoptosis. Properties exhibited by the Ag-CNP suggest that it may be used as a potential antibacterial and antitumor agent.

      • Active VM Consolidation for Cloud Data Centers under Energy Saving Approach

Saxena, Shailesh,Khan, Mohammad Zubair,Singh, Ravendra,Noorwali, Abdulfattah International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2021 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.21 No.11

Cloud computing represent a new era of computing that's forms through the combination of service-oriented architecture (SOA), Internet and grid computing with virtualization technology. Virtualization is a concept through which every cloud is enable to provide on-demand services to the users. Most IT service provider adopt cloud based services for their users to meet the high demand of computation, as it is most flexible, reliable and scalable technology. Energy based performance tradeoff become the main challenge in cloud computing, as its acceptance and popularity increases day by day. Cloud data centers required a huge amount of power supply to the virtualization of servers for maintain on- demand high computing. High power demand increase the energy cost of service providers as well as it also harm the environment through the emission of CO2. An optimization of cloud computing based on energy-performance tradeoff is required to obtain the balance between energy saving and QoS (quality of services) policies of cloud. A study about power usage of resources in cloud data centers based on workload assign to them, says that an idle server consume near about 50% of its peak utilization power [1]. Therefore, more number of underutilized servers in any cloud data center is responsible to reduce the energy performance tradeoff. To handle this issue, a lots of research proposed as energy efficient algorithms for minimize the consumption of energy and also maintain the SLA (service level agreement) at a satisfactory level. VM (virtual machine) consolidation is one such technique that ensured about the balance of energy based SLA. In the scope of this paper, we explore reinforcement with fuzzy logic (RFL) for VM consolidation to achieve energy based SLA. In this proposed RFL based active VM consolidation, the primary objective is to manage physical server (PS) nodes in order to avoid over-utilized and under-utilized, and to optimize the placement of VMs. A dynamic threshold (based on RFL) is proposed for over-utilized PS detection. For over-utilized PS, a VM selection policy based on fuzzy logic is proposed, which selects VM for migration to maintain the balance of SLA. Additionally, it incorporate VM placement policy through categorization of non-overutilized servers as- balanced, under-utilized and critical. CloudSim toolkit is used to simulate the proposed work on real-world work load traces of CoMon Project define by PlanetLab. Simulation results shows that the proposed policies is most energy efficient compared to others in terms of reduction in both electricity usage and SLA violation.

Stage specific feeding attributes and mobilization of nutrients in Mexican beetle, Zygogramma bicolorata Pallister on Parthenium hysterophorus L.

        Patel Priya,Singh Shailesh,Patel Arvind Kumar,Kumar Bhupendra,Singh Arvind Kumar,Kumar Dinesh 한국응용곤충학회 2020 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.23 No.2

Parthenium hysterophorus L. (Asteraceae) is a toxic weed of agricultural farms, pastures and wastelands with a pan-tropical distribution. The weed causes a reduction in crop production of agricultural fields and severe health problems in humans. The Mexican beetle, Zygogramma bicolorata Pallister (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) is among the most promising candidates for the weed biocontrol. However, no previous study has evaluated assimilation of nutrients in this beetle. In the present study, feeding attributes and assimilation of nutrients by larvae of Z. bicolorata were assessed on the weed. Results revealed that the first larval instars of Z. bicolorata exhibited lowest consumption rates, and accumulated minimum concentrations of glucose, proteins and triglycerides in their body. They showed compensatory feeding, and displayed highest food utilization efficiencies and developmental rates. In contrast, the fourth larval instars exhibited higher food consumption rates and conversion efficiencies, but displayed lowest developmental rates. Accumulation of food reserves was also recorded maximum for the fourth larval instars. Overall, the findings may aid current mass-rearing efforts for Z. bicolorata in laboratories, but field trials are still needed to strengthen the present findings.

BURP domain-containing genes in legumes: genome-wide identification, structure, and expression analysis under stresses and development

        Chitkara Pragya,Poddar Nikita,Singh Amarjeet,Kumar Shailesh 한국식물생명공학회 2022 Plant biotechnology reports Vol.16 No.4

BURP domain-containing proteins are a plant-specific protein family which play an important role in plant metabolism and development. These proteins have also been involved in various abiotic and biotic stress responses. In this study, genome-wide identification and characterization of BURP domain protein encoding gene family is performed in four important legumes, Phaseolus vulgaris, Cicer arietinum, Cajanus cajan, and Vigna radiata. BURP genes were distributed randomly across chromosomes in all four legume plants. The phylogenetic analysis classified all BURP proteins into five major subfamilies, namely, USP-like, RD22-like, BNM2-like, PG1β-like, and BURPV. Our findings revealed that BURP gene family descended from common ancestors with segmental gene duplication events playing a critical role in their evolution and expansion in legumes. The intron–exon and conserved protein motifs analysis revealed that BURP genes are structurally conserved in legumes. The promoter analysis revealed the presence of hormone, and stress-responsive cis-regulatory elements in BURP promoters, implying that BURP functions in both hormone and abiotic stress signaling. Global expression analysis revealed that several BURP genes in all four legumes express differentially during plant development, and under biotic and abiotic stresses. This indicates crucial role of BURP proteins in regulating the development of legumes and adaptation to different abiotic/biotic stresses. This study will provide the starter for cloning and detail functional investigation of BURP proteins in legume crops.

Corrosion mitigation of steel rebars in chloride contaminated concrete pore solution using inhibitor: An electrochemical investigation

Lee, Han-Seung,Yang, Hyun-Min,Singh, Jitendra Kumar,Prasad, Shailesh Kumar,Yoo, Bongyoung Elsevier 2018 Construction and Building Materials Vol.173 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Inhibitor is one of the most accepted method to reduce, prolong the initiation of steel corrosion and increase the threshold value of Cl− and CO3 2− ions. In present study, we have mixed sodium salt of phosphate and benzoate along with benzo triazole in water to prepare the inhibitor. Open circuit potential (OCP) results show that 5 v/v% inhibitor was exhibited most positive (nobler) potential than others at its prolonged exposure in simulated concrete pore (SCP) + 3.5 wt% NaCl solution. The OCP of 3 and 5% inhibitor containing solution proved that these concentrations are away from under corrosion region of steel rebar even after 192 h of exposure in SCP + 3.5 wt% NaCl solution. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) results show that the charge transfers resistance (Rct) to be highest for 5% inhibitor and gradually decreased once the concentration was reduced with exposure periods. Potentiodynamic studies reveal that inhibitor shows passive properties due to adsorption of inhibitor molecules on steel surface and enhance the corrosion resistance properties. The efficiency was calculated using Rct and corrosion current density (Icorr) process and found that 3 and 5% inhibitor exhibit around 89 and 96%, respectively after 1 h of exposure in SCP + 3.5 wt% NaCl solution.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> The prepared inhibitor has worked effectively to reduce the corrosion of steel. </LI> <LI> Synthesized inhibitor work as anodic inhibitor. </LI> <LI> High concentration of inhibitor is required to mitigate the corrosion of steel. </LI> <LI> 96% efficiency was found for 5 v/v% inhibitor after 1 h of exposure. </LI> </UL> </P>
