Accuracy analysis of generalized discrete Fourier transform‑based harmonics extraction in presence of background harmonics

        Shuo Zhang,Yuzheng Xia,Tao Yang,Xiang Li,Daorong Lu,Haibing Hu 전력전자학회 2022 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.22 No.1

The generalized discrete Fourier transform (GDFT) realizes the rapid extraction of specific order harmonics, and shortens the extraction time to 1/3 of a fundamental cycle (6.7 ms at 50 Hz grid) for 6r ± 1 order harmonics. However, the GDFT becomes less accurate when the system presents background harmonics other than specific-order harmonics in the inputs. Therefore, this paper analyzes the influence introduced by these background harmonics on the GDFT. First, the frequency feature of the GDFT is derived by a geometric method based on the z-domain unit circle. Then, the extraction of the 6r ± 1 order harmonics is taken as an example to show the extraction accuracy of the GDFT. The Accuracy of Harmonic Extraction (AHE) index, is also given to evaluate the accuracy of the extraction. Simulation and experimental results confirmed the correctness of the theoretical analysis by showing that the GDFT has the same accuracy as the RDFT when only 6r ± 1 order harmonics are involved. However, if there are other background harmonics in the inputs, the extraction accuracy is affected greatly. Therefore, when the background harmonics cannot be ignored, it is necessary to analyze the AHE of the GDFT. When AHE > 95%, the GDFT has good accuracy and is applicable to real applications.

Photosynthetic inhibition and oxidative stress to the toxic Phaeocystis globosa caused by a diketopiperazine isolated from products of algicidal bacterium metabolism

        Shuo Tan,Xiaoli Hu,Pinghe Yin,Ling Zhao 한국미생물학회 2016 The journal of microbiology Vol.54 No.5

Algicidal bacteria have been turned out to be available for inhibiting Phaeocystis globosa which frequently caused harmful algal blooms and threatened to economic development and ecological balance. A marine bacterium Bacillus sp. Ts-12 exhibited significant algicidal activity against P. globosa by indirect attack. In present study, an algicidal compound was isolated by silica gel column, Sephadex G-15 column and HPLC, further identified as hexahydropyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrazine- 1,4-dione, cyclo-(Pro-Gly), by GC-MS and 1H-NMR. Cyclo-(Pro-Gly) significantly increased the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) within P. globosa cells, further activating the enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant systems, including superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione (GSH) and ascorbic acid (AsA). The increase in methane dicarboxylic aldehyde (MDA) content showed that the surplus ROS induced lipid peroxidation on membrane system. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) and flow cytometry (FCM) analysis revealed that cyclo-(Pro-Gly) caused reduction of Chl-a content, destruction of cell membrane integrity, chloroplasts and nuclear structure. Real-time PCR assay showed that the transcriptions of photosynthesis related genes (psbA, psbD, rbcL) were significantly inhibited. This study indicated that cyclo-(Pro-Gly) from marine Bacillus sp. Ts-12 exerted photosynthetic inhibition and oxidative stress to P. globosa and eventually led to the algal cells lysis. This algicidal compound might be potential bio-agent for controlling P. globosa red tide.

HSP70 attenuates compression-induced apoptosis of nucleus pulposus cells by suppressing mitochondrial fission via upregulating the expression of SIRT3

        Hu Binwu,Wang Peng,Zhang Shuo,Liu Weijian,Lv Xiao,Shi Deyao,Zhao Lei,Liu Hongjian,Wang Baichuan,Chen Songfeng,Shao Zengwu 생화학분자생물학회 2022 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.54 No.-

Compression-induced apoptosis of nucleus pulposus (NP) cells plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD). Recent studies have shown that the dysregulation of mitochondrial fission and fusion is implicated in the pathogenesis of a variety of diseases. However, its role in and regulatory effects on compression-induced apoptosis of NP cells have not yet been fully elucidated. Heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) is a major cytoprotective heat shock protein, but its physiological role in IVDD, especially its effect on mitochondrial fission and fusion, is still unknown. Herein, we found that compression could induce mitochondrial fission, which ultimately trigger apoptosis of NP cells via the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway. In addition, we identified the cytoprotective effects of HSP70 on NP cells, and we found that promoting the expression of HSP70 could protect NP cells from abnormal mechanical loading in vitro and in vivo. Finally, we showed that HSP70 inhibited compression-induced mitochondrial fission by promoting SIRT3 expression, thereby attenuating mitochondrial dysfunction and the production of reactive oxygen species and ultimately inhibiting the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway in NP cells. In conclusion, our results demonstrated that HSP70 could attenuate compression-induced apoptosis of NP cells by suppressing mitochondrial fission via upregulating SIRT3 expression. Promoting the expression of HSP70 might be a novel strategy for the treatment of IVDD.

"Insights into deactivation mechanism of Pd@CN catalyst in the liquid-phase hydrogenation of phenol to cyclohexanone"

        Rizhi Chen,Shuo Hu,Xiang Zhang,Zhengyan Qu,Hong Jiang,Yefei Liu,Jun Huang,Weihong Xing 한국공업화학회 2017 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.53 No.-

"The deactivation mechanism of Pd@CN catalyst in the liquid-phase phenol hydrogenation was investigated by designing many experiments. The phenol conversion decreased by 40% through five reaction cycles. The catalyst deactivation could be mainly ascribed to the surface coverage and the pore blockage with organic matters including cyclohexanone and other derivatives. Three after-treatment methods, i.e., water washing, drying and storing in water, strongly affected the catalytic activity of Pd@CN. After the reaction, by storing the recovered Pd@CN catalyst in water, its catalytic performance could be maintained. These findings provide in-depth insights on the deactivation and recycling of Pd@CN catalyst."

      • Development of Golf Industry in China and Evolution of Policies and Regulations

        Xiaoyu Zhang,Shuo Li,Qingtao Hu 동북아경상학회 2021 동북아경상연구 Vol.2 No.2

Purpose – Golf industry, as a high-tax industry, has gradually become an important economic source for local governments, and at the same time, it can promote the development of surrounding industries and the appreciation of real estate. Form a variety of golf club-centered resorts and make outstanding contributions to local tourism. Driven by high profits, China’s modern golf started late, but it developed rapidly. Although the rapidly developing golf industry brought a lot of tax revenue and promoted the surrounding industries, in the process of rapid development, it was inevitable that there were problems such as fighting for farmland and destroying the environment, which not only hindered the development of golf, but also caused people’s dissatisfaction due to illegal land occupation. Establish the future development direction through the research of existing problems. Design/Methodology/Approach – By combing China’s policies and regulations, this paper can intuitively show the Chinese government’s most direct attitude towards the golf industry in various periods, and can also reflect the development situation of golf in China from the side. Compared with the western countries, Japan and South Korea, the development of China’s golf industry is still relatively backward. By comparing the literature of the golf industry in Korea and China, this paper also draws on the problems in the development process of the golf industry in South Korea, draws lessons from it, sums up the problems existing in China’s golf industry at present, and thus better establishes the future development direction. Make China’s golf industry develop in the right direction. Findings – As long as China reasonably controls the development of the golf industry and adopts the policy of parallel dredging and blocking, golf will develop healthily in China and bring a lot of benefits to China to achieve a win-win situation. Research Implications – Golf industry can not only bring revenue to China, but also reduce environmental damage and find a reasonable development direction.

Force changes associated with differential activation of en-masse retraction and/or intrusion with clear aligners

Zhu, Ye,Hu, Wei,Li, Shuo The Korean Association Of Orthodontists 2021 대한치과교정학회지 Vol.51 No.1

Objective: To investigate the three-dimensional forces created by clear aligners on mandibular teeth during differential activation with en-masse retraction and/or intrusion in vitro. Methods: Six sets of clear aligners were designed for differential en-masse retraction and/or intrusion procedures in a first premolar extraction model. Group A0 was a control group with no activation. Groups A1-5 underwent different degrees of retractions and/or intrusions. Each group consisted of 10 aligners. Aligner forces were measured on a multi-axis force/torque transducer measurement system in real-time. Results: In the en-masse retraction groups (A1 and A2), lingual and extrusive forces were observed on the incisors; the canines mainly received distal forces; intrusive forces were seen on the second premolars; and the molars received mesial forces. In the en-masse retraction and intrusion groups (A3, A4, and A5), incisors also received lingual and extrusive forces; canines received distal and intrusive forces; mesial and extrusive forces were seen on the second premolars; and the second molars received distal and intrusive forces. The vertical forces on the incisors did not differ significantly among groups A1, A3, and A5. However, the vertical forces on the second premolars reversed from intrusion in group A1 to extrusion in groups A3 and A5. Conclusions: With clear aligners, the "bowing effect" is seen during en-masse anterior teeth retraction and can be partially relieved by performing en-masse retraction accompanied by anterior teeth intrusion. Vertical control of incisors remained unsolved during en-masse retraction, even when intrusive activation was added to the anterior teeth.

      • The Metallization of Diamond Grits

        Sung James-C.,Hu Shao-Chung,Chang Yen-Shuo 한국분말야금학회 2006 한국분말야금학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2006 No.1

A revolutionary "Active Braze Coated Diamond" (ABCD) has been developed for bonding diamond grits firmly in the metal matrix. The molten braze is wetted and reacted with diamond to form strong chemical bond at the interface so that the diamond does not become knocked out of tools. The ABC is a nickel alloy that can form metallurgical diffusion bondswith the metal matrix. In essence, ABCD turns diamond into a metal grain so that the diamond tools can be made by conventional powder metallurgical process without being concerned about the poor bonding between matrix metal powder and the diamond as before.

Long noncoding RNA UCA1 inhibits ischaemia/reperfusion injury induced cardiomyocytes apoptosis via suppression of endoplasmic reticulum stress

        Jing Chen,Qi Hu,Bo‑fang Zhang,Xiao‑pei Liu,Shuo Yang,Hong Jiang 한국유전학회 2019 Genes & Genomics Vol.41 No.7

Background Ischemia heart disease is one of the major causes of death worldwide which often associated with tissue infarction and limit the recovery of function. Multiple factors involved in the I/R-induced cardiomyocyte dysfunction which were consistent with a role of oxidative stress and altered endothelium-dependent responses. However, the pathogenic mechanisms in I/R injury remain unclear. Materials and methods The H9C2 cells were in the ischaemia/reperfusion (I/R) condition. After I/R, the cells were transfected with or without adenovirus-urothelial carcinoma associated 1(Ad-UCA1). Then qRT-PCR analysis was performed to quantify mRNA expression of different treatment groups. Cell apoptosis rate was assessed using flow cytometry and ER stress biomarker expression were measured by immunoblotting. Intracellular and mitochondrial ROS generation were assayed by fluorescence microscope after staining with the DCFDA or MitoSOX. Results I/R conditions trigger lncRNAs UCA1 expression, cellular and mitochondria ROS production, resulting in cell apoptosis through the induction of oxidative and ER stress. Overexpression of UCA1 protects H9C2 cells from I/R-induced ER stress and cell apoptosis. Moreover, UCA1 might be a potential regulator in the protective effect of I/R‑induced oxidative stress and mitochondria dysfunction. Subsequently, ER stress inhibitor attenuated the effect of siUCA1 induced injury in H9C2 cells. Conclusion The expression of UCA1 against I/R induced oxidative stress and mitochondria dysfunction via suppression of endoplasmic reticulum stress. UCA1 might be a biomarker to improved diagnosis of I/R injury.

Aeroengine performance degradation prediction method considering operating conditions

        Bang-Cheng Zhang,Shuo Gao,Zhong Zheng,Guanyu Hu 한국인터넷정보학회 2023 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.17 No.9

It is significant to predict the performance degradation of complex electromechanical systems. Among the existing performance degradation prediction models, belief rule base (BRB) is a model that deal with quantitative data and qualitative information with uncertainty. However, when analyzing dynamic systems where observable indicators change frequently over time and working conditions, the traditional belief rule base (BRB) can not adapt to frequent changes in working conditions, such as the prediction of aeroengine performance degradation considering working condition. For the sake of settling this problem, this paper puts forward a new hidden belief rule base (HBRB) prediction method, in which the performance of aeroengines is regarded as hidden behavior, and operating conditions are used as observable indicators of the HBRB model to describe the hidden behavior to solve the problem of performance degradation prediction under different times and operating conditions. The performance degradation prediction case study of turbofan aeroengine simulation experiments proves the advantages of HBRB model, and the results testify the effectiveness and practicability of this method. Furthermore, it is compared with other advanced forecasting methods. The results testify this model can generate better predictions in aspects of accuracy and interpretability.

      • Benzochloroporphyrin Derivative Induced Cytotoxicity and Inhibition of Tumor Recurrence During Photodynamic Therapy for Osteosarcoma

        Gong, Hai-Yang,Sun, Meng-Xiong,Hu, Shuo,Tao, Ying-Ying,Gao, Bo,Li, Guo-Dong,Cai, Zheng-Dong,Yao, Jian-Zhong Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.5

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a promising cancer treatment modality that uses dye-sensitized photooxidation of biologic matter in target tissue. This study explored effects of the photosensitizer BCPD-17 during PDT for osteosarcoma. LM-8 osteosarcoma cells were treated with BCPD-17 and cell viability after laser irradiation was assessed in vitro with the 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay. The effects of BCPD-17 during PDT recurrence were then examined on tumor-bearing mice in vivo. BCPD-17 had dosedependent cytotoxic effects on LM-8 osteosarcoma cells after laser irradiation which also had energy-dependent effects on the cells. The rate of local recurrence was reduced when marginal resection of mice tumors was followed by BCPD-17-mediated PDT. Our results indicated BCPD-17-mediated PDT in combination with marginal resection of tumors is a potentially new effective treatment for osteosarcoma.
